KaliforniaDreamz · 09/07/2020 19:45

crimsonkangaroo.co.uk

just bought a load of milton lloyds from here for cheap thrills.

teta · 09/07/2020 20:36

I think Chanel are fairly threatening/hostile to everyone threatening to besmirch their name . Not just the copies, eBay ,the grey market etc. Often decant sellers are stopped from selling Chanel decants, but then a few months later they reappear again 😁.
Im very happy as I've just managed to score a bottle of Phaedon Hesperys in the Sens sale at a much cheaper price than the UK one. It's my unicorn ... and smells just like the old Clairol Essences Shampoo.
Sotd is Miller Harris Fleur Du Matin.

XingMing · 09/07/2020 21:12

May a recidivist dip back in, please? Some stalwarts might remember me. Just to say, I've had a spritz of Chergui, which is ridiculous in July.

KaliforniaDreamz · 09/07/2020 21:47

I've not been here that long but i remember you x

yoikes · 09/07/2020 21:59

Hi Xing welcome back
I'm going to buy some wax melts

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/07/2020 22:52

So cold and wet here I am in MMM Fireplace! I was supposed to meet friends in the park but we had to cancel - the rain was, as we say here, “stottin’ off the ground”. Thank god we are allowed to go inside from tomorrow.

Hello, xing, nice to see you back!

Interesting that PP has been out of stock that long. Today I’ve rollerballed myself in Gucci Envy(Goochi Enveeeees PP) oil. It’s so good and like the original but I’d like to overlay with the spray ideally.

yoikes · 10/07/2020 08:17

Morning
Ds2 finishes primary school today
Ds1 had his 1st driving lesson yesterday
I'm feeling a bit discombobulated!

teta · 10/07/2020 11:26

It's the end of an era @yoikes. It made me sad when mine finished .
Hi @XingMing welcome back.
@Greenpop21 each time you mention the Envy copy - I really want to try it.
I have just discovered a new perfume brand - Rogue Perfumery . How did I miss it? They use lots of oakmoss in their perfumes and I've just ordered some samples from scent samples.
It's all very exciting ☺️.

yoikes · 10/07/2020 13:27

Listening to slipping through my fingers by abba was not - perhaps - the best idea 😪

So now I'm trying to cheer up listening to the ramones Grin

Sotd modern muse nuit. Woody patchouli loveliness.

I went for fragrance dust in the end - ordered no malone velvet rose and oud and burberry body.

But I've treated myself to a new mug and some earrings today too. Oooops.

Have a good weekend all x

KaliforniaDreamz · 10/07/2020 15:37

Ah Yoikes end of primary is a tough one x

I ordered Milton Lloyd 'copies' of Youth Dew, Coco and Coco Mademoiselle, clinique aromatics and something called kashmir that may or may not be a copy of sikkim by lancome.

no idea what they'll be like but for £20 who cares i just wanted a cheap treat.

Happy weekend all.

yoikes · 10/07/2020 15:59

Ha! I nearly ordered ML kashmir yesterday!

Greenpop21 · 10/07/2020 17:53

End of primary for your last child is a moment that catches you off guard. My DD1 went to uni last year. I deliberately avoided that ABBA song! As it turns out she’s been home since March due to the pandemic so you never know what’s around the corner. I try to live in the moment but it’s hard.

yoikes · 10/07/2020 18:03

It's caught me rather off guard!
I guess pandemic and all I'd put it to the back of my mind.

Dh likes modern muse nuit too :)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/07/2020 23:39

Suckers for that Amber yoikes

I am really sentimental and find the end of year really hard. Watching the current year 6 kids and parents on Thursday nearly killed me! That'll be me next year.

SOTD Terre de Hermes.(PP version) I love this.

yoikes · 11/07/2020 14:05

Very true kali! :)
Funnily enough ds2 is totally unbothered!
Ds1 is (socially distantly) meeting a friend today. It'll do him good.
I'm tired. Didn't sleep well.
Sotd avon lbd weekend
I may have DABT again :) I've ordered some burberry body.
Do let us know what you think of the ML dupes!

teta · 11/07/2020 14:20

I’m trying to flog some of my perfumes on a Facebook site.
I’ve mastered eBay selling but this is different. So frustrating ... I hate Facebook with a passion as well.
Sotd is Annick Goutal eau d’ Hadrian.

Calmasasleepycat · 11/07/2020 14:44

This weather is really strange. I was looking forward to a nice sunny day today, as forecast, but it’s quite chilly in between sunny moments.

Over the last few days, I have been wearing vintage perfumes:

Paloma Picasso - I regularly wore this to work in my twenties. It is a rich, powerful and deep floral, difficult to describe, but smells expensive. I have the modern version too, but it’s not as good.

Rochas Mystere - I wore this one in my late twenties and thirties. Heavy on the oak moss and civet, this is also a deep floral. It is so powerful and distinctive, I don’t know how I could have worn this to work but I did! 😨 I enjoy it very much but have to wear it when DH is out.

Diorella - This is new to me, bought second hand only a year or so ago. It is an oak mossy floral with lemony notes. To me the lemon is a lemon oil rather than bright citrus. I have no idea what the modern Diorella smells like, but I’m looking forward to trying it.

Today, I’m wearing Burberry Brit. On me this is all about the almond, with vanilla, citrus top notes and florals. It’s light but still lasts several hours.

All the talk about PP has made me look up their website again. I do adore some of the names. I really want to order “Arching Shrub”, which shares similar notes to JM Honeysuckle & Davana!

MrsPerks · 11/07/2020 15:30

Hey Xing - good to have you back with us!

Calm - I'm in vintage Diva. Have you tried it? Also a civet bomb, but a warmer, sweeter, powderier floral that Mystere. My little Mystere miniature is very dirty. Think it might be the cumin note rather than the civet that really makes it filthy? I've only smelt that note previously in Theo Fennell's Scent, and in Mystere it's a real unwashed hair kind of funk. I imagine you must like the original Magie Noire - all dark witchy moss and civet. I always think it belongs in the same bracket/breath as Paloma Picasso, even though they are quite different.

Teta - I'm not going near Facebook for similar reasons. Is that an old Eau d'Hadrien or a new one? Seems to have changed a fair bit - the mini in last year's HN box surprised me.

That's quite a double Yoikes. Hope Yoikes Minor manages to have a decent transition to secondary school. Like Kali, my turn next year.

Hope things have dried out/warmed up a bit Judy?

MrsPerks · 11/07/2020 15:40

Flora - no, not nearly erudite enough to have written anything on skin chemistry. I trust the Luca Turin/Tania Sanchez take on this - dryness of skin and skin temperature may affect the perception of top notes (as these factors will influence the rate of evaporation and this will be most noticeable for the most volatile elements = top notes). Beyond that, key differences are likely to be down to variation in our interpretation, description and taste (we 'bring our own filters').

teta · 11/07/2020 16:27

I don't think it's one of the newest eau d Hadrien ones @MrsPerks. It doesn't smell the same as it used to when I wore it for years in my 20's . The top notes are just as lovely but the cypress smells bitter and muddy - modern aroma chemicals I think. Or my body fighting back ?
Anyway I am flogging this and Chanel Beige Parfum - if any of you are interested. Will list on eBay tomorrow as well as fragrance groups.
@MrsPerks have you or anyone on here tried Rogue Perfumery Chypre Siam ? Or indeed any of the Perfumes in this range.

KaliforniaDreamz · 11/07/2020 17:55
