I think I'll give Tea Tonique a go Pears. I think of the more masculine fragrances as suitable for cooler weather, but I'm willing to be open-minded!
How was the chiro yoikes?
Eyesight is deteriorating. I have to close one eye to see my monitor. Sad

teta · 25/06/2020 09:06

Woke up at 5.30 as ds1 was still up cooking pancakes and is now fully nocturnal. I have to get up at 7 am to let the dog out. So as a really light sleeper I'm getting very little sleep as everyone bloody keeps on waking me up.
Sotd - about 10 sprays of Hermes Pamplemousse Rose .

Calmasasleepycat · 25/06/2020 12:05

Flora, I’m so sorry about your eye. You must be desperate for your op. Is there any news on when it might be?

I tried Tea Tonique this morning. Pears, you’re quite right. It’s lovely in the heat, a non-smoky tea, citrusy on top but with something pleasingly earthy in it.

yoikes · 25/06/2020 13:30

flora I feel for you. Its horrible isnt it? :(

Chiro went ok. My neck made some very horrific noises!

Boglins · 25/06/2020 20:53

@MrsPerks

Classic picks Teta - fingers crossed for you! I've recently picked up a 10ml of Diorella (new in dogstooth packaging) and it is marvelous, slightly dirty mossy lemon. Just do love the 70s for that moment when perfume was able to be gender-bustingly complex/cerebral and skanky all at once.

Your Korres sounds perfect for the weather, Pots! My ears pricked up in case that was the J-C Ellena one, but I think he was responsible for their White Tea, Bergamot and Freesia?

Ooh I have that Korres MrsP, I never knew it was a J-C Ellena one! It's also a very good hot weather scent, nice and light and summery!

Flora, how scary! I hope your op comes around soon Flowers

MrsPerks · 26/06/2020 01:54

Eye issues don't sound very nice Flora and Yoikes. Flowers

SotD #1 Babylon Sunset, SotD #2 Midnight in the Palace Garden, lots of jasmine and ripe fruit.

yoikes · 26/06/2020 07:51

Did update update guys!?

Went for my follow up and - basically - they don't know what's wrong and its watch and wait situation.

Sigh.

Have a good day all....I think itll be extra sexiest scent again today x

teta · 26/06/2020 08:33

Gosh @Yoikes that sounds incredibly frustrating and worrying . @Calmasasleepycat
I'm sorry to hear you have eye issues too.
Ooh - big clap of thunder ⚡⚡.
Il Profvmo Fleur de Bambi will be Sotd. Watery green lotus, bamboo and a rice note. Cooling and tropical.

Calmasasleepycat · 26/06/2020 09:35

SOTD Theo Fennell Scent EDT. The skankiness in this is not so noticeable, perhaps because of the heat, and the florals beautifully enhanced. I normally think of this as a winter perfume but I’m really enjoying it today. 😊

MrsPerks · 26/06/2020 09:38

My old cherry tree has a rampant rambling rose growing through it. It looks spectacular at the moment, huge cascades of off-white roses with yellow stamens. I've come out to the most fabulous musky-spicy rose fragrance ever (and the hum of hundreds of bumble bees who have arrived to enjoy the moment too). I want a perfume that smells of this rose! Perhaps with some honeysuckle, jasmine and linden blossom in the background?

teta · 26/06/2020 10:12

Sounds stunning @MrsPerks. I adore Roses and have several in my garden and many Rise perfumes. The closest I can come to that description is Rosine Rose d'ete. It's a musky Rose with Linden blossom and Mimosa but it's rendered fresh with citrus's and Galbanum . No spicy facets sadly. You might find another Rose in the Rosine stable that's a better match though. Or Nahema - a spicy rich floral with virtually every flower you can think of.

MrsPerks · 26/06/2020 10:18

Thanks Teta - going off to explore right now! Have your vintage finds arrived yet?

PearsMorgan · 26/06/2020 13:38

My Ffern Summer arrived. It’s nice, but not that different to spring (with a bit of orange and ?cinnamon). Not sure this one’s a keeper.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/06/2020 20:14

SOTD Stella. Sorry to hear of poorly perfumistas.

I’m finished work for six weeks! I thought it was next Friday, I have completely lost track of time. I am not sure lockdown holiday will be great, but I am glad to be free of kitchen table/laptop.

Boglins · 26/06/2020 20:16

MrsP, I've got the PP version of Nahema if you'd like it when I venture back into a post office? It's not my bag at all!

yoikes · 26/06/2020 20:20

Ds1 broke up today. Very odd and anticlimactic.

Oh! I've applied for a job! It's a 6 month contract, home based, pt. Probably won't get it but....it's online group co ordinator for a charity.

FloraMacDonald · 27/06/2020 10:17

Ooh good luck yoikes!
I've mostly been wearing Scherzo & Vetiver Insolent recently. I can't get enough of them! I'm unconvinced by Tea Tonique in the heat though. It may have evaporated instantly though, as it was 30+ the day I tried it. 🌞

teta · 27/06/2020 12:13

Sounds perfect for you @Yoikes.
Wearing my new vintage Paris mini today.
I'm surrounded by lush link roses

teta · 27/06/2020 12:15

Or 'pink'.
I didn't even press post then. Must have been my elbow.

FloraMacDonald · 27/06/2020 13:44

I wore a lot of YSL Paris, back in the day, @teta! I thought I was très sophisticated. Grin

Greenpop21 · 27/06/2020 13:56

Gucci Envy dupe from PP is smelling good today. Now renamed Florence. Waiting for them to restock so I can buy the spray.

teta · 27/06/2020 14:55

😁 Me too.
Though I loved the Roses then and not so much the sandalwood base notes. My mini isn't vintage I think ... as compared to some vintage edt I have it's Lacking aldehydes and oomph.
@Greenpop21 I've been meaning to try the Envy copy for a while. Now you've reminded me.
I bought the Jo Malone copies from Aldi the other day. The Rose scent diffuser is truly lovely and is currently scenting my hallway. The lemon & basil handwash also smells pretty authentic .
@PearsMorgan I'm unimpressed by the summer Ffern too. I think it's too similar to Spring and will be returning it.To me it's just not a summer perfume at all - too many spicy warm culinary elements. I've kept spring 20 but returned winter 19 and sold autumn 19. None of them compare to the stunning summer 2019 that comprised of warm fresh and citrus notes plus sensual incense. Its genuinely unusual and so unique.

PearsMorgan · 27/06/2020 15:41

@teta that summer 19 sounds delightful. I gave the new summer another go today and felt the same about it - decided I’m going to return it. I also returned winter because it smelled like Karvol.

I also got my Demeter/Library of fragrance order this week. Grapefruit one is nice, frankincense one smells bizarrely of maple syrup but the kids like it. Best of the bunch is a tester of white tuberose they threw in - clean and green. Also a mango tester which is going to the kids.

MrsPerks · 27/06/2020 16:05

That's very kind, Boglins - let me know what I can swap with you in return? And apologies, Kali I think I may owe you my address?

Job sounds right up your street, Yoikes - good luck!

My rambling rose is still absolutely lovely, I wish I could take a smello-graph and share with you! It's a fabulous scent which fills the garden.

teta · 27/06/2020 17:00

Take a picture @MrsPerks and we can imagine the smell . What variety is it?
I've found another rose perfume that's spicy.
Mona Di Orio Etoile d' Rose . I've tried it and it's beautiful .
