Will we see any royals out and about anytime soon?

Queen Margrethe is just about to turn 80, so some new official portraits have been released - presumably taken pre-lockdown. I think she's very poised and elegant - I guess her height helps. The blue dress looks good on her.

NMR also have a lot of the previous official portraits to look through, including some striking ones of when she was younger:

I didn't realise Queen M was close to 6ft tall. Christian is already taller than her and he's only about 15!

I like her dress - I always think of that shade as Dairy Milk blue.

Leti's dress has an historical vive about it too but from an earlier period 15th or 16th century.

Queen Mathilde was a lovely smiling bride.

She had argued with Paola about the flowers, as she wanted red to go with her attendants’ outfits, but Paola wanted white flowers. Eventually only the Cathedral altar had red flowers, and all the rest were white.

The Royal gardeners produced Mathilde’s vast bush like bouquet which weighed three and a half kilo, but somehow Mathilde kept smiling!

StartupRepair · 14/04/2020 21:43

Christian has such a teenage vibe of not really wanting to be in those photos, despite his polite smile.

Checking in!

CPF is still so damn cute.

Has anyone seen anything about Beatrice's wedding? I saw some commentary on Twitter but nothing else and I refuse to do DM or DE so not sure. Isn't it supposed to be soon? Is she delaying or going with the registry office with mum and dad only?

Tootreeticki · 15/04/2020 13:26

There has been no announcements regarding wether it will take place or not in May as planned. Only that the party is cancelled. Somehow I hope she'll marry very privately asap and get to get on with starting a family if that's what they want. And then a big fabulous mega blessing and party when it's all safe again. But who knows!

I like the York princesses and happen to think people are unnecessarily cruel about them, while cutting Harry and William far too much slack over the years.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/04/2020 14:33

I assume both wedding and party are off as the local authorities have cancelled all wedding ceremonies across the country for the next few months. My local registry office has cancelled them to the end of July.

A rare interview with Princess Anne in this months Vanity Fair. Interestingly, she reveals that she would've liked to have become an engineer!

Love the interview! And therein is the answer to how she keeps her figure - she basically doesn’t eat 😳

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 15/04/2020 19:46

Brilliant interview thank you for linking it Queen

MotherofPearl · 15/04/2020 20:20

Yes thanks for posting that interview @QueenOfTheAndals, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

@banivani, that's exactly what I thought! "I think during the day, eating’s not really an issue,” she tells me.

I, on the other hand, start thinking about lunch the moment I've finished my breakfast. Blush

AppleKatie · 15/04/2020 21:12

Enjoyed the interview but yes the lunch/refreshment comments sound exactly like my 65yo colleague with a similar figure- and point directly to disordered eating and accompanying misery. 😒

StartupRepair · 16/04/2020 03:15

I don't read it as disordered eating. I see it as her being one of those enviable people who really does not think much about food. It's just not a driver for her. Sadly I'm the opposite.

BeaLola · 16/04/2020 04:02

Slightly off topic but not all local authorities have cancelled weddings until July - our local authority had only cancelled them during the lockdown period

Dirtystreetpie · 16/04/2020 09:07

Interesting to see glimpse of Anne's life, though I'm sure we would all use our screens and devices less, if we had hundreds of acres of private Gloucestershire countryside for our personal amusement. Bad luck for all those with only a window box, balcony or back yard!

itswinetime · 16/04/2020 15:44

William has opened the nightingale NEC today still looking tanned and I think he may have let Kate loose with clippers as his hair looks shorter again

Interesting to see a glimpse of Anne's life, I agree if I had acres and stables and horses ect I'm sure finding things to do would be a lot easier 🤷🏻‍♀️
