Will we see any royals out and about anytime soon?

QueenoftheAndals was any poster able to see photo 3 on that Town and Country link ?

AdaColeman · 08/05/2020 19:16

Thanks for posting that lovely photograph of Margaret, in her wonderful dress and of course the fabulous Poltimore tiara.
I remember going up to town the following day to see The Mall decorated with archways of roses.
Afterwards, we went for lunch to Martinez Spanish Restaurant in Swallow Street, once patronised by King Alfonso and later by General Franco. Such happy times!

UkuleleRose · 08/05/2020 19:24

Lady Eloise, google "princess anne covid video" and it will come up. (The video)

MotherofPearl · 08/05/2020 19:37

Gosh, no matter how expensive they might be, I really dislike knickknacks and china figurines. Though my favourite great aunt used to collect Lladro figurines so I do sort of have a soft spot for them - just not in my own home!

MotherofPearl · 08/05/2020 19:42

I was wondering if any of you have read The Last of the Duchess by Caroline Blackwood, about the final years of Wallis Simpson? I read a review of a different Blackwood novel and then this popped up, and I wondered if it's any good? It's described as part biography, part comedy of manners...

What a lovely memory, AdaColeman.
I couldn't see the Princess Anne section either.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2020 21:03

HM in pearls and periwinkle blue for her speech.

HM looked fab!!

paradyning · 08/05/2020 21:25

Love those Art Deco aquamarine brooches!

BigGlasses · 08/05/2020 21:27

Quite liked Camilla’s outfit earlier today, but haven’t seen a full length picture of it though. Not sure about Charles’s waistcoat, looked a bit weird with the lapel sort of bit.

Queen looks lovely as usual. Anyone recognise the brooches? She quite often picks something meaningful.

paradyning · 08/05/2020 22:17

There's some info on them here

Thank you UkuleleRose

CarrotVan · 09/05/2020 08:09

@BigGlasses I thought the same re lapels but then saw a full length photo. He’s in a full kilt suit which makes the lapels more in keeping

CarrotVan · 09/05/2020 08:14

I like that Prince Charles has a set up of boxes and books to get his webcam at the right angle and height. My “workstation” is much the same

MsJuniper · 09/05/2020 08:14

I came here to see if anyone knew about the brooches so thanks for the link. I thought they resembled two planes in flight, but DH thought I was imagining it.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 09/05/2020 08:17

Thank you paradyning it’s always interesting to read about the detail. I loved how HM had a photo of her dad & army hat on the desk.

StartupRepair · 09/05/2020 08:36

The brooches are really lovely.
I guess if you have staff to dust them, you might feel differently towards multiple ornaments.

LadyEloise · 09/05/2020 08:59

Princess Anne has a lot of little porcelain animals too. Smile

BlingLoving · 09/05/2020 10:26

I love a brooch but have never really cracked how to wear them. I had a gorgeous one I'd always coveted of my mothers and when she died I pinned it to a jacket on a day I was going into town and then having dinner with girlfriends. I lost the jacket, and the brooch (and we weren't even drunk). I've always been 100% certain it was left at the restaurant and for whatever reason they refused to admit it and have never stepped foot in there again. Possibly unfair but...

Anyway, I've never attempted the brooch thing again. It's too scary and so the one or two of my mum's I have remain in my jewellery box.

Kate in an old LK Bennett dress. William has a shark like smile here!

Nice dress, but the seam under the bust is in an odd place!

I remember buying a beautiful Butler and Wilson brooch when I was a poor student and it had fallen off by the end of the day. It put me off buying brooches again. Also, my dresses (I pretty much live in dresses) are usually of a thin or delicate fabric and my jackets are of very thick fabrics - which makes brooch wearing difficult.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 09/05/2020 11:17

Oh Bling I’d do the same in your shoes. I have something of my grans & I don’t wear it either.

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/05/2020 13:09

I'm not sure Zoom is that flattering to William. He's leaning in too close!

thisenglishlife · 09/05/2020 15:15

I agree @QueenOfTheAndals
In the lighter blue shirt here he looks fine, in the darker blue jumper photo he's too close again

You might be able to have a jeweler add a bail to the back of the brooch and wear it as a pendant. I have one like that that was my grandmother's.
