Are these sandals nice or granified?

I love these sea salt sandals buy both dh and dd say they are somewhat granified and not stylish. What does everyone think? Also do you prefer the black or tan colour?

Can we agree they are Granny chic!
They look comfy, they look like a classic sandal and I’d wear them because I think they’d be cute with shorts and a pair of tanned pin.

I prefer the tan rather than the black.
Granny Chic, it’s the future.

BumbleBeee69 · 09/04/2020 17:07

okay I'm still wearing crocs... shuffles off to corner of SHAME.... Hmm

LesLavandes · 09/04/2020 17:15

No support imo

notthemum · 09/04/2020 18:05

Quite granny (but that could be me being mean cos my hugely wide feet would never fit in them).

DuchessofBolton · 09/04/2020 18:16

Oh my god , don’t look like a granny! Look like a sheep.

JollyGiraffe12 · 09/04/2020 18:32

Perfectly normal sandals, I prefer the tan

fruitpastille · 09/04/2020 18:45

If you have slim ankles ankles and are quirky but stylish they will look good. If you are a bit sensible and sturdy they won't.

Doobigetta · 09/04/2020 19:53

The tan ones are ok and would get away with being called laid back cool if they were paired with a summer dress or shorts. The black ones look frumpy to me. Like they’d be paired with M&S Classic range slacks and a nice pastel blouse by someone who thinks all shoes must be black but wants to look summery.

Doobigetta · 09/04/2020 19:55

I think black sandals in general are bad. Tan accessories always look better in summer.

DameXanaduBramble · 09/04/2020 19:57

Fuck me, those Teva shoes are a bit scary.

lifeisgoodmostofthetime · 09/04/2020 22:29

I have the tan pair. They can look granny depending on what you wear them with. With a dress they look granny. With skinny jeans they look great.

Motherontheedge1 · 09/04/2020 22:31

Granny. Prefer the tan but don’t like either. Sorry.

PalacePaper · 10/04/2020 07:46

I think it depends on your personal style rather than how old or young you are. I personally really like the sandals OP, and am less keen on the more intricate or jewelled styles (for me) - but that's because I feel more 'me' in quite simple clothes and shoes. It doesn't really matter whether other people who have a similar style to me are older or younger than I am, and I find it a bit of a shame that the idea of someone older wearing the same thing as someone younger is somehow a negative.

Floisme · 10/04/2020 08:01

Your friendly reminder that 'granny' is not a state of dress or a state of mind. Don't make me get cross now.

Myself I prefer my sandals a bit clumpier and uglier - like my feet. I see no point in trying to disguise them. Some of those Tevas are more to my taste, although I would want more skin coverage as my feet burn.

dudsville · 10/04/2020 08:16

The ones you've posted OP are hip at the moment, well for a few years, so i think they're a safe bet. Also the ones that i would call "jesus" sandals, the ones that look line birkenstocks are equally hip. There others posted are of a different taste/style and may be equally current, i don't know, but to my mind look more dated (I'd this it's what we mean by granny).

PrimalLass · 10/04/2020 08:28

I like them. They are classics. I'm not keen on blingy sandals.

PrimalLass · 10/04/2020 08:30

I never like any of the sandals that people post as alternatives in these threads.

lastburritos · 10/04/2020 09:00

I got some last year....splashed out as they're expensive for me.
They were so poorly made. Stitching loose. Holes in the sole where the stitching had gone wrong and then been removed and redone. One tighter than the other. Returned them for a refund. So disappointed!

MaidenMotherCrone · 10/04/2020 09:23

I've never asked DH his opinion on such things before but just asked what he thought.

The kind of footwear you'd find a tan coloured tight covered elephants foot squashed into as it leaves a coach in Bognor.

It made me laugh anyway.

ironicname · 10/04/2020 09:37

I love them! Not granny at all.

Heygirlheyboy · 10/04/2020 09:44

60-75% gran Grin

Hilarious.

OP I like them, they're retro cool.

daisychain01 · 10/04/2020 10:08

My granny was a super-stylish lady (a bit Greta Garbo of her day), so I would see it as a compliment to wear grannified sandals!

Franticbutterfly · 10/04/2020 10:15

Granny all the way!

pinkmagic1 · 10/04/2020 11:54

That has made me howl Maidwnmothercrone and also put me off even more!
I love the White stuff ones daisychain01 posted a link too. Infact I think like them more and may have to place an order before I change my mind again!
