Anybody got recommendations for dyeing eyebrows and lashes? My eyes are starting to look like those holes in the snow Smile

CurbsideProphet · 14/04/2020 18:51

I need to wax my underarms and bikini line, but I've paid to have them done for 16 years Blush any advice?

BunnytheHoneyBee · 14/04/2020 23:15

Hi this is right up my street

I would like to lose half a stone if I can so I’m trying not to snack too much. I’m actually not doing too badly on that. I’m doing body combat on YouTube every other day. I’m trying to do 10,000 steps a day but that’s actually quite tough if my non-workout days and it requires a walk of close to an hour or lots of house work!

Also:
Tria laser hair removal
Microneedling face
Body brushing
Body buttering
Sorting out my cracked heels!

I got a laser wrinkle thing in a FabFitFun box so might try that and I have no shortage of products to use.

I think strips might be easiest if you are starting out. Veet is reliable. Maybe start with v small areas so you’re not pulling on your skin too much.

CurbsideProphet · 15/04/2020 13:07

@BunnytheHoneyBee when I was googling I found old mumsnet threads where posters were saying not to use Veet at home, as the strips kept getting stuck 😱

BunnytheHoneyBee · 15/04/2020 13:46

@CurbsideProphet Oh dear! Maybe don’t use it then! I used them but years ago and they were fine. I preferred warm wax that you heat yourself but it’s faffy and messy obviously. My aunt swears by the cheap ones you can get in Home Bargains but not sure what they’re called

CurbsideProphet · 15/04/2020 15:19

@BunnytheHoneyBee the salon I go to uses hot wax, but that's probably not a good idea for a beginner 😂 I'll keep googling for now!

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 21/04/2020 09:58

How are you all doing princesses? I currently have 1 gel nailed big toe on each foot as I lost my mojo after that Confused

The body brushing is fab though, and I love The ordinary acid mask. I have kept up my nail buffing too and they have honestly never looked better.

I want some new things to throw into the mix though, maybe I should finish my pedicure before I add to my routine though Grin

ChicCroissant · 21/04/2020 23:24

Doing OK here, probably need to replace the varnish on my toes now though. Did actually manage a smidge of makeup today, no base but mascara/blusher/tinted lip balm. Need to up the exercise a bit, but still walking most evenings - just need to add a bit of toning work during the day.

Still using up shower gels and perfume, not finished any yet!

I'm in. So far:

  1. I've lost a stone, but weight loss completely stalled and really pissing me off (another 2 to go).
  2. Running (well jogging) every other day. I hate it, but I'm doing it.
  3. Retinol - my face is 'purging'. I look like Freddy Kruger.
  4. Only drinking Fri/Sat. This Is Tough. See point 15.
  5. Loads of water and green tea
  6. Whitening teeth (had some bleach leftover) -pausing for a not as my teeth are super sensitive (not a good combo with home schooling...)
  7. Actually using my lumea
  8. Footnered
10. Opalex in my hair constantly - v impressed by this! 12. Looking at my weights... Watching live workouts (haven't attempted one yet) 13. Exfoliation and moisturising daily. Hands a lost cause though. Loads of suncream on Freddy face. 14. Will at some point sort out my wardrobe but no motivation right now 15. Trying really hard not to feel really fucking frustrated every day😬 16. Taking vitamins, iron, d3, a b vit combo, drinking lemon and ginger hit water, probiotics. 17. Eating low carb, lots of veggies - although no appetite really, so point 1 even more frustrating. 18. Trying not to look completely haggard and like I've only had 3 hours sleep, when I have. Really struggling to sleep, having weird dreams - woke up at 3am and started looking for a cloth to clean the windows....🤨 19. Fighting the Very Strong urge to sit on my arse eating biscuits, drinking wine, and crying all day (am also grieving, bastard virus.)
Mawbags · 22/04/2020 21:22

You’re doing brilliantly Maud, although I’m so sorry that you have suffered your own loss through this.

OP posts:
ButterbingQueen · 24/04/2020 05:51

I’m so sorry to hear that Maud. I hope you’re doing as well as possible in the circumstances.

I’m going to join this thread if possible. I was a sleep-deprived mess and was wanting to make more of an effort before this virus hit but now we can’t even (really) leave the house, I’m keen to make more of an effort to eat well, exercise and generally do what I can to feel a little better!

ButterbingQueen · 24/04/2020 05:55

(Posted too soon)

I’ve been eating slightly more fruit and veg and slightly less sugar, but I definitely need to work on this. I’ve also adopted a vague skincare regime, as opposed to just washing my face in the shower, putting on moisturiser and hoping for the best!

In the future, once lockdown is over and also once I’ve stopped breastfeeding, I’m hoping to get my teeth whitened. I’m nervous though!

Eesha · 24/04/2020 06:03

@ButterbingQueen just with regards to whitening, my friend is a dentist so did my trays and all I do is buy the gels every year. It does make a big difference even though my teeth were pretty white before (i thought) and after that, I got more compliments.

ButterbingQueen · 24/04/2020 06:09

Thanks @Eesha! That’s what I’m thinking of doing. Or possibly that ‘Zoom’ whitening. I’m just nervous about it being painful as I have very sensitive teeth!

Eesha · 24/04/2020 06:58

@ButterbingQueen i think you always read horror stories with these things but I didn't really notice with my teeth. I wore them overnight with gel for a few days and that was it. It's probably the one thing plus threading which changed my look extremely positively.

Llamallamadingdong · 24/04/2020 07:54

I feel like I really need to get on this. I did start reasonably well on the other thread but work sort of took over and I wasn’t feeling great mentally.

I’ve been consistent with:

  1. Daily supplements- multi vitamin and omega 7.
  2. Moisturising my hands- they’re still cracked though.
  3. Manicure at the weekends.
  4. Daily exercise- mostly just a walk but some cardio and yoga.

I need to start: some sort of hair treatment (what is this olaplex you speak of?) and sorting out my feet which are very dry.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 24/04/2020 07:58

Hi all, I am up for joining in! I've let things slide in lockdown so much that even dp, who is usually my biggest cheerleader, suggested that I looked a little 'peelly-wally' the other day Grin Shock

My biggest issue atm is my skin - hormonal acne coupled with increased consumption of booze and sugar has wrecked it recently. I'm scared of using anything really new on it whilst it's freaking out, so have resorted to benzoyl peroxide and jojoba oil which sorted it a few years ago when I had my last chronic mega-breakout. No makeup and plenty of water will also help, hopefully.

So this my princessing list:

  • no makeup
  • meticulous skincare every morning and evening
  • water water water
  • probiotic supplements
  • moisturise every day including hand cream
  • only wash my hair twice a week (over-washing dries it out)
  • leave-in conditioner twice a week
  • no nail varnish - treat a fungal nail infection on my toes [bleaugh] - but lots of jojoba oil rubbed in every day. And no biting!
  • water water water
  • booze twice a week, not every frickin night as we're doing at the moment
  • some yoga every day, even if it's just 15 mins
  • a daily walk in the fresh air - I've let that slide because I just cba some days
  • water water water
  • continue with the intermittent fasting because I like it and it works and I feel so much better when I'm not mindlessly pushing food into my mouth all day
Eesha · 24/04/2020 08:07

@Llamallamadingdong interested in what people say about Olaplex. I used a 'celeb ' hairdresser once and he recommended Olaplex 2 as a leave in conditioner for me. He said it would improve the condition after colouring and all the products have great reviews. However every time I attempted to ask about it in salons, they said it wouldn't work at home unless I was an expert at using it! Not sure if they are trying to dissuade me from doing it myself.

Mawbags · 24/04/2020 09:17

I am buying an LED mask
Starting retinol

Anybody talking about tooth whitening... mine are white and I use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash every day while in the shower. Gives them a good ten min soak.

OP posts:
Llamallamadingdong · 25/04/2020 22:26

@Mawbags don’t you feel a bit sick after 10 minutes of mouthwash?!

Mawbags · 25/04/2020 23:25

Nah you get used to it
It does work
But I live in fear of accidentally swallowing it and following trumps medical advice!!
