So glad my thread from years back is finding new purpose.

I just painted my nails bright red.
Doing push ups and squats every day.
Bought some in shower hair colour gloss.
Slowly using up all the samples of masks and serums I've accumulated

Also - and this may be viewed as risky... started using braun IPL on low setting with a conductive gel on my face. Anyone ever tried this? I was going to a salon for IPL treatments...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2020 17:20

i read they are so bad for the environment
In what way? I cannot find anything ( searches keep directing me to "clothes" not "cloths" )

Surely better than micro grains ( even allowing for the fact plastic grains are banned )

They are re useable . Don't need detergents .

What's the environmental impact ?

Sammi38 · 29/03/2020 17:43

@Mawbags I’ve recently lost 6 stone really quickly (weight loss surgery) and at 39 I don’t think my face is particularly saggy. It is a lot slimmer and my cheekbones are more pronounced but no droopiness.

I have ordered some colour on esalon, as my grey roots are poking through my bleached hair, so I’ve chosen a darker richer colour. Apparently you get a personal blend after you fill in an online profile and send photos? If nothing else, it will save me the fortune a month I spend at the hairdressers.

I’ve got some eyebrow tint and a pair of tweezers.

I’ve also found some facial waxing strips in my bathroom, so I done my upper lip last night.

I’ve been sticking to my skincare routine.

Geepipe · 29/03/2020 17:47

I think i once read about the nylon process used to make them and stuff like them is really bad for the environment so i read about what it was made of rather than them themselves. Which is a shame as they are fantastic.

Terralee · 29/03/2020 18:09

@Sammi38 well done for losing 6 stone that's amazing!

I'm back onto calorie counting now - 1400 calories 4 days a week & 1500 calories on my 3 work days.
Got just under 2.5 stone to lose.

I had lost 8lbs in less than 2 weeks but put it back on by eating the treats on offer at work.
So I've banned myself from having anything extra at work, the problem is other people trying to encourage me to eat their treat food but they don't realise that I only have to look at food to put on lbs!
Also I don't fancy sharing food with other staff if I'm honest who may be carrying the virus!

ChicCroissant · 29/03/2020 21:20

Do we have the originator of the Princessing threads on? BlackSwan tell us about the first thread and the background, I'd love to hear the details Star

BlackSwan · 29/03/2020 22:23

Hello ChicCroissant, thanks for asking! It was a very long time ago, before Kate & Wills wedding. I had my first baby the year before, and had managed to pull myself together for a very chic wedding in Italy: crash diet, meticulous skin care regimen etc - all as though it were my own wedding I had to prepare for.

After that wedding, I felt like I needed a new set of goal posts. So the Royal Wedding became the target date for continued self-improvement. I thought it would help to have others on the bandwagon with me, with everyone contributing ideas for small things we would do each day to look and feel better.

Here we are in crazy 2020 and to many this kind of endeavour probably seems very frivolous. But I find the worse things are, the more important self care is. Perhaps its a control thing...

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 29/03/2020 22:39

I remember that thread @blackswan - lovely to see you back here! (I’ve name changed a million times since then)

Today I have felt horribly anxious so tonight I did a hair mask, hand mask, footner (for 3 hours - will my toes fall off?!) and then I did those face scraper thingies for microdermabrasion and lastly caster oil on my eyelashes and brows. It’s distracted me if nothing else!

Tomorrow I’m going to try drinking 2l water, vitamins, joe wicks for exercise and then I’m going to dig out my teeth whitening kit.

I may be a nervous wreck, but I’ll look good while I’m falling apart! Haha!

Eesha · 29/03/2020 22:41

@Terralee I think I'll be losing loads of weight as none of the independent deliveries I'm using deliver sweets so no more fun stuff in the house!

BlackSwan · 30/03/2020 06:57

Yes we could all use some distraction from crap news, fridge inventories and household politics!

Deathraystare · 30/03/2020 09:17

Well I have made a start (big deal) . I used the Avon gold peel off face mask and smothered my poor dry hands in Atrixo. Well, it is a start!

Working up to dyeing my hair myself - always a messy business.

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 30/03/2020 11:01

@Deathraystare that’s a fab start. What is the gold mask? Sounds fancy! I got some cheap hand mask gloves off amazon and tried them for the first time yesterday. Was AMAZING. You put them on like footner gloves and my skin felt so soft afterwards. Will def try keep them in my beauty routine!

catinb0oots · 30/03/2020 12:59

I've got to start doing my skincare routine again. I've been a bit depressed these last few months and have completely neglected myself. Started this morning by applying my lovely bit c serum, have drunk a ton of water and as of yet have not eaten (fasting)

catinb0oots · 30/03/2020 13:00

Want to cry about my roots though

catinb0oots · 30/03/2020 13:01

Oh and can anyone recommend a deliciously smelling body cream?

I want to be soft and smooth and smell fabulous

ChicCroissant · 30/03/2020 13:55

I have found the first Princessing thread!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/a1156122-Project-Princess

It did have a list, I see that now - I've been on a few Princessing threads (recently, not the original) where we did our own lists. Either will work!

I'm using an Avon body lotion at the moment, have also used a Sanctuary one this week as well. Trying to use up the shower gel bottles that have about an inch of product in them to free up space (way too many products in the bathroom!). Also giving my feet a quick pumice in the shower every morning.

My hair isn't too bad (yet ...) as I had a cut booked shortly before lockdown luckily!

Deathraystare · 31/03/2020 08:14

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon -This one!

ReginaGeorgeous · 31/03/2020 08:58

My Lumea was delivered on Saturday morning so I had a good go of that. Not sure if I’ve missed patches on my calves though, will wait and see how the regrowth looks in a fortnight.

I’m going to have to try and take my gels off this week . I’ve bought the stylfile remover kit and a bottle of OPI Nail Envy.

OneOfTheGrundys · 31/03/2020 16:03

Regina how did you start with it? Considering one. Did you shave then do it?
Do you zap straight after shaving? Or wait so there’s teeny hairs peeping up? How can it see the hair to zap it if there’s none there?
I’ve developed hairy fingers recently. Eww. Want to zap them off.

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 31/03/2020 16:38

@oneofthegrundys I used to have one - I’m going to buy another when I get paid! I would shave and then just do the whole leg. If there’s a tiny hair there you get a little zap and smell burning! It’s not painful but it’s disconcerting! I still have bald patches on my legs and arms where it’s worked, but I need to get another one to keep on top of the treatments. It was a total game changer for me - I totally recommend!

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 31/03/2020 16:38

Ps I have hairy toes..... mine are gonna be zapped too!

OneOfTheGrundys · 31/03/2020 16:43

Ah that is good to know. Where did your other one go?!
I am unfortunately pale skinned with dark hair and as I age I can see the way things are going for me. Dark hairs in unfortunate places.

claireyjs · 31/03/2020 17:26

I'm 4 stone overweight...minus the 4lbs I've list so far. Going to try my best while cocooned as a single mum with 2 kids except for days I resume my alter ego as a teacher...

claireyjs · 31/03/2020 17:27

*lost

OJZJ · 31/03/2020 17:53

Well I thought lockdown was a great idea to start my diet I need to lose about 8 stone for healthy bmi however instead of conserving food for my child (as I reckon like others much worse is to come )and eatong ly diet shakes I have gone into locusts mode and bordom eating myself out of house and home.... eaten all the lockdown sweets, cracked open the Easter eggs and baked 3 bloody cakes today..... I NEVER bake but thought it would entertain my seven year old and use up mushy bananas he has decided he doesn't like banana cake so I will have to eat it all I will see if he like the lemon or chocolate cakes I made.... just sponge- no icing etc.... I think I will emerge from the lockdown looking like the cocoon never mind the hungry catapiller....good luck everyone
