so, while rome burns I think I will fiddle with my beauty regime Grin I am thinking long baths,, depilation, total exfoliation, body lotion, wearing a hair mask ALL DAY, doing nails, wearing face cream slathered on and letting it sink in then NO make up (poor old dh! he has no idea who he is really married to! Grin) for the first few days, then

wearing my very fancy pjs/ kaftans and big earrings

going through the cocktail cabinet and experimenting and generally wafting about in a haze of Tom Ford and gin?

anyone in?

morning! I love that phrase @vancleefarpels

I honestly believe thats its good for my mental health to continue doing my usual 'self care' routine, its helps to give structure to my day and just generally cheers me up.

one lovely thing that has happened is that my neighbour who lives above who is a concert pianist is self isolating and practicing every afternoon we all open our windows to listen, its like a free concert Smile at the time I thought it was quite mad to get a grand piano up to the 3rd floor, the flooring had to be strengthed and it was all a performance Grin now, its lovely.

Oh how wonderful, a free personal piano concert every day! ❤️

Graffitiqueen · 20/03/2020 09:27

I've got a sheet mask and footner to do tonight. While I'm sitting with those on I will shop online for luxe loungewear.

thebabessavedme · 20/03/2020 09:49

and just to share something that makes me laugh averytime I see him on the telly now, one of the bbc news guys said that 'Rishi Sunak is about to reveal his package' humour of a teenager I know but it makes me titter! ooooerrrr mrs Grin

Great thread!

I'd love to join you, now that I have time to use my stash of lotions and potions.

I've let my routines slip, so I'm going to make more effort generally.

I decided recently, after some poor treatment at my usual hairdresser, to cut my own fringe and do my roots at home for a few months. Consequently, I picked up a couple of packs of home dye (it's something I've done before when I was a bit short of cash). I have some half price ogx coconut shampoo and conditioner, which makes my hair nice and soft. And some Olaplex 3 lying around, which I haven't used for ages.

My plan is to stop using straighteners routinely, but still blow-dry my hair (I wash it every other day, but will see if I can move that out to every third day or twice a week), do a pedicure and keep on top of that, continue to keep my nails short and buff them, use cuticle oil and hand cream every day.

I have rosacea, and Rosex gel on prescription is keeping my skin calm. I'm going to stop wearing foundation for a while and put some tanning drops (tan luxe) in my normal night serum. I already use a daytime moisturiser with a high SPF.

That should be enough to start with. I'm off to get my summer maxis out. Smile

chipsandpeas · 20/03/2020 13:07

im joining in im using this time to moisturise like mad and use nothing on my hair - not dying it unless i absolutely have to, hopefully not being blow dryed, straightened etc will help it a bit

since im working from home im going to use lunchtimes to still go for a walk, mainy on the treadmill tho but will occasionally go outside

was thinking about slapping a footner on but since im probably not going on holiday i may keep that for another time

hotcrossbun4321 · 20/03/2020 15:09

Good idea! I’m trying to look on the bright side - I’m saving 2 hours a day on commuting by working at home, so I could put that time to good use with some exercise.

Since I’m not getting my nails done this month I’ve bought 3 new Essie colours online so I’m going to give myself a nice pretty spring manicure with Fiji

TeaAddict235 · 20/03/2020 16:27

Oh that's lovely @thebabessavedme ! How constant and calming at this time. The neighbour might start belting out some horror music tunes soon, reflecting their frustration Grin

Fridays are usually my bath night, including wine and face mask. But I seem to have lost my sense of taste since my MILD cold ( must emphasise that as I do not have the virus), so it all might have to be missed this evening. I need to tend to my ends myself and maybe use another hair concoction, whilst watching YouTube.

Those hair videos are shamefully addictive though! I've learned how to trim my own ends with an online purchased salon sissors, how to test the pH and what not of my products, how to test for porosity and more, Goldilocks watch out! TeaAddict is coming to steal that crown Grin

VanCleefArpels · 20/03/2020 23:40

I find makeup videos amazingly relaxing. I’d never in a million years do my face like some of them do but it’s mesmerising. Tati Westbrook in particular has a really soothing voice

1forAll74 · 21/03/2020 03:52

I have a tin of emulsion paint to use up. (not on my face), I am giving my bedroom a freshen up, before I start any pampering.

blueberryyoghurt · 21/03/2020 04:47

I was thinking exactly this today! There have to be some perks of bend stuck at home at least!

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 21/03/2020 07:41

This is a great thread and it must be better for me to use up my pampering stash than my gin stash which is what I've been doing so far!

Willow4987 · 21/03/2020 07:56

What a great thread! I’ve decided to finally start a skincare routine and use all of the millions of face masks, lotions and potions I have. As well as using my lumea! I’ve also just tested myself to a new lipstick to brighten my days

Ninkanink · 21/03/2020 10:18

This morning I’m wearing a new set of pretty pyjamas with a coordinating dressing gown, and fluffy slippers with pearl and diamanté embellishment. I’ve put on blingy earrings and lipstick and I’m just going to relax and enjoy the solitude. We got married last month and we’re treating our voluntary isolation/social distancing as our cosy home honeymoon.

thebabessavedme · 21/03/2020 11:11

dh and I are going to stretch our legs with a walk in the park later, then I will be cooking a nice meal then relaxing in my snazzy pjs and blingy earrings while he makes us a cocktail.

we are told we are getting a piano recital about 8pm Smile

I'm very glad the pubs have shut, keeping my old dad out of his local has been a monumental task in which I restorted to emotional blackmail (thanks stanley Angry)

@ninkanink you do know that a baby boom is predicted for december don't you? Grin My brothers and I all have December birthdays due to cold easters Grin

Enjoy your 'homemoon' Grin (but be careful! Grin)

TheHoundsofLove · 21/03/2020 11:19

Like others, I'm going to use up all the packets of face masks and hair treatments that have previously been languishing in drawers. I'm also going to take the chance to grow my hair a bit. For anyone with a fringe - I bought some hairdressing scissors off of Amazon and my husband has become really good at keeping it trimmed in between appointments.
I'm also going to use the time to go through all my clothes and make an effort to wear as many items as possible...not all at the same time though! Grin

Ninkanink · 21/03/2020 11:23

Hahaha I’ve got the coil firmly in place! My babies are 24 and 21 years old now and much as I love snuggly newborns I’m not doing that all over again.

Ninkanink · 21/03/2020 11:24

Don’t bleach your hair! It’s so bad for it and you might as well give your hair the luxury of leaving it alone as much as possible for the time being (other than treatments to improve its condition).

itssquidstella · 21/03/2020 11:33

I've just bought some jogging bottoms from ASOS...thinking about developing my athleisure aesthetic in the coming weeks 😆

thebabessavedme · 21/03/2020 11:43

haha @Ninkanink I get you, my dd is 28, another would be akin to the second coming at my age Grin so basically you are just having a 'shagfest' you bad girl Grin enjoy enjoy!

think you may be right about the hair, I am trying to grow it atm so I guess buggering it up with a bad bleach do is not the best idea.

Can I join you please?!
I’m a nurse so still working but I’ve been making sure that my days off are full on pampering days!
I’ve been slathering on the face moisturiser and body lotion. My nails need to be short and plain but I’m using lots of moisturiser on them.
I might try a hair mask later. Does it go off if unopened? Also I might do my toenails a nice bright colour.
I need some nice pjs and some hairdressing scissors for my fringe. Any recommendations for scissors and any online tutorials?

Ninkanink · 21/03/2020 11:49

Flowers and big thanks to you and your colleagues and all the people bottom to top who ensure smooth as possible running of hospitals. Please tell everyone at work how much they’re appreciated, truly.
