Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

No that's what ordinary people eat to avoid putting on weight. Kate's chef probably whips up fabulous healthy meals for her!

What witchcraft do you think this chef can do?

CarrotVan · 02/04/2020 09:25

It would be good to see them dealing with home schooling, trying to work alongside the kids (having sent the nanny home on full pay...), being Zoom-bombed by the kids/dogs whilst on conference calls.

They could also volunteer for the NHS voluntary force or one of the many keeping in touch schemes.

CarrotVan · 02/04/2020 09:26

Also doing the Joe Wicks PE sessions and similar.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/04/2020 09:39

Haha, I don't know @AppleKatie but I'm sure Kate has access to the best!

Agree re home schooling @CarrotVan, and that would tie in with her interest in early years.

I'm still not convinced they have a chef as a matter of course. Nanny maria probably cooks for the kids a lot, sure. But the few pap pictures of Kate we get tend to be her doing ordinary things like shopping at Waitrose etc. I honestly just can't see her with a full on fancy chef every night. But absolutely has some kind of part time chef or service that would help with entertaining or at certain times etc.

Also, some of her charities are probably doing Covid 19 related support, she could get behind that. I haven't followed any of them but eg if they're doing group sessions by zoom, join in on one. Or if they're doing stories for kids, do the reading for one. Etc etc. I think that's probably the best and least intrusive way to get involved - be demonstrably involved in whatever their charities are already doing.

Heygirlheyboy · 02/04/2020 09:44

I know a family who have a housekeeper that prepares meals (lunch/dinner) It's not a fancy chef setup but end result is the same. Tbh it would be the first thing I'd do if I had the money, delicious and well balanced meals served up, thanks very much.

Read that Andrew PB has COVID, which is a concern for his family and Anne and Zara who were recently embracing him.

LadyEloise · 02/04/2020 10:23

Lurleene
CPV 's lounge is a little bland and grey.
Max's is described as having "calming blue..."
It's one if the least calm rooms I have ever seen. Smile
I haven't read any more of the article yet.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/04/2020 10:44

CPM's is exceedingly tasteful and exactly what I'd expect from her. Max's is very Max! I actually love the shots of HH and MM's home that they post on Instagram, it's very Scandi-chic.

Why am I not surprised that Max's sitting room is her sitting room 🙈

LadyEloise · 02/04/2020 12:01

Calming it's not.
It definitely has her exhuberance Smile

PinkSun9 · 02/04/2020 15:43

I wonder if things have changed drastically for the RF since the times of the Queen Mother re household staff. She had 83 full time personal staff, according to her Biographer William Shawcross.

queenofarles · 02/04/2020 17:37

Gosh CPM sitting room is very 80s.

QPV, Haakon &MM are very nice.

W&K’s is probably my fav.

queenofarles · 02/04/2020 17:43

And senecas post made go and research the private rooms at HW.
Obama’s rooms are really beautiful they were done by someone I’ve been following for a few years on insta Michael S Smith.

I suspect Kate eats very sensibly - so lots of delicious healthy food but a few drinks on a Friday night.

I have done so much bread making since lockdown, good job I got a peleton to off set the amount of bread I am now eating. I can see Kate fretting over her sourdough starter like me Wink

Lots of covid infections related to Cheltenham Festival (who Zara works for). She went to Italy, didn't isolate and then to The Cheltenham Festival, there were also a rugby match - all in the February to March period.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/04/2020 20:38

FFS Zara!

Charles is opening the new Nightingale hospital via video link today

MotherofPearl · 03/04/2020 08:40

Just looked at the royal sitting rooms. Most of them are too ornate and frilly for my taste. I don't like CPM's at all - those ice blue curtains are awful. I'd say that apart from that hideous valanced coffee table, I like HH & MM's the best.

BlingLoving · 03/04/2020 10:40

The vast bulk of those living room pictures are not likely to be the rooms the family actually relaxes in. They're more like "Drawing rooms" or "receiving rooms" of years before? Places you use for visits - where ladies could be visited by gentlemen or where you'd entertain your guests before or after dinner. So real rooms, with a real use, but they're unlikely to be the rooms the family are most comfortable in and curl up to read a book while the kids watch netflix.

Max's is a monstrosity. So her. I'd die in there.

StartupRepair · 03/04/2020 11:27

I thought Fred and Mary did quite a wild renovation a few years ago. Will see if I can find some photos.

thisenglishlife · 03/04/2020 11:43

That looks quite fun. CPM looks more like Kate than Carol and Pippa do.
