Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

Anyone else feel Harry threw his toys out of the pram ?

On the contrary. He acted like a man and put his wife and family first. It must have been very difficult to walk away from it. Very progressive. I have a lot of admiration for him. Now if the other two would only do the same!

There are lots of good ways to take photos of people working. Look at the amazing photos of the JFK or Obama presidencies at work.

The Royals don’t have an Oval Office - for a start.

CarrotVan · 01/04/2020 12:30

The Oval office is just an office though. You can stage your photos more effectively

Clarence House have just posted a lovely sincere and heartfelt video message from Prince Charles.

Gooseysgirl · 01/04/2020 12:48

message from Prince Charles

queenofarles · 01/04/2020 13:04

Lovely message from PC, very well said. 👏🏻👏🏻

BelleharePenguin09 · 01/04/2020 13:10

The Oval Office IS the most famous office in the planet.

Barrack Obama was the president during a difficult time ,he probably was truly working in all those photos, he is very charismatic I must say.

Judging by her correspondence , Jackie could have been writing letters to Sister Parish or Oleg Cassini her couturier .
she did an incredible job redecorating the White House.

thisenglishlife · 01/04/2020 13:43

Good message from Charles.
Is the Queen OK?
No more Sussex Royal. sad
Anyone else feel Harry threw his toys out of the pram?

They are not allowed to use 'royal' anymore. They have to keep the page though, otherwise someone will take their handle or impersonate then. They can't have comments as there will be spam or hatred. They have apparently secured funding for their upcoming foundation.

FATEdestiny · 01/04/2020 14:19

I saw the message from Charles earlier. It think it important he did an address in order to reduce worry after his positive test.

It does concern me that we have not had an address from The Queen at all (aside from a written statement).

itswinetime · 01/04/2020 14:53

Charles's message was a bit waffling and all over the place for me it seemed to lack a point 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I agree I think it was mainly for us to see he is well and doing ok after his diagnosis.

I think it's a difficult balance for the royals at the moment....they can't do anything or say anything that hasn't been said by people much better placed than them (doctors, scientists ect). They can't visit and do the morale boosting they normally do and the more they show us of their isolation in palaces with staff ect the more likely people are to have less than warm and fuzzy feelings for them!

I think we will hear from the queen in person eventually but I think they are probably waiting till they need her to pick people up the most if I think there's only so many times a message like the one I would expect from her will have any effect.

I think it will be interesting to see what Harry and Meghan do now...it feels like it has been a longtime in this limbo like state and obviously current events mean they won't be doing anything fast. But until I have seen what it is they actually want to do now I think it's to soon to say anything about their decision to leave.

SenecaFallsRedux · 01/04/2020 15:20

That picture of President Obama working posted by CarrotVan is not in the Oval Office; it's the Treaty Room in the White House residence. Obama used it as a home office. It often doubled as a family room, too.

What rubbish when retired medical professionals can crawl out of retirement

Two very different things altogether.

thisenglishlife · 01/04/2020 15:27

The Sussexes still have:

Invictus Games

Endeavour Fund

Sentebale

Together Community project (possible plan to help with a second book. The first book meant that the kitchen could be open full time and do more to help the local community.)
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Once Harry left, Heads Together is a shell of what it used to be

-They still have their patronages
-There's Harry's separate project, a non profit focusing on sustainable travel and "supporting communities, wildlife and the environment". He did some work on this when he came back to the UK, a few weeks ago.
-They've hired Melinda Gate's foundation adviser - so their foundation has a great expert on board
-Also, Meghan's projects (while she was a royal), were all revealed after she had worked on the projects... They weren't teased.

So there's definitely been a history of identifying problems and coming up with successful projects based on these.

mrscampbellblackagain · 01/04/2020 18:26

I thought the H&M said they weren't setting up a foundation?

Hopefully they just get on with their lifes out of the spotlight as they wanted. No one will argue with that. Although I suspect they need to make some £££ as this couldn't have happened at a worse time economically for them. I bet Charles is looking at his investments and sighing a lot. Off to Zara for Camilla, Kate and Meghan for the foreseeable - no more couture Wink

Would like to see what Meghan wears though because I am shallow like that Wink

angstridden2 · 01/04/2020 19:36

It’s interesting that there are pics of Victoria of Sweden packing food boxes for the self isolated in Sweden..it would be nice to see some of our Royals doing something practical to help.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/04/2020 19:45

I think Sweden is not in lockdown?

OP posts:
itswinetime · 01/04/2020 21:19

Yeah I'm fairly sure Sweden is the last country in Europe to not be in lockdown.

StartupRepair · 01/04/2020 21:30

I kept trying to work out who was in the photo behind Charles.

itswinetime · 01/04/2020 22:27

Is it not the Queen Mother, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen?

Lurleene · 02/04/2020 00:56

I just saw this article on Royal living rooms and thought of this thread Hello

Sorry if it has been posted already but thought it may be fun to have a nosey.

mrscampbellblackagain · 02/04/2020 07:19

I think Kate would be criticised if she was seen packing food boxes - she isn't a key worker and it definitely wouldn't be essential travel.

I think Kate should do a youtube diary of a day in her life food and exercise wise - I would love to see that Wink

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/04/2020 07:27

Wouldn't we all @mrscampbellblackagain! I suspect a lot of her diet and exercise routine consists of having a private chef, personal trainer and who knows how many other members of household staff.

I wish she and William had taken a leaf out of the Spanish or Swedish royals' recent photos and chosen opportunities when they were actually working rather than posing.

I don’t think she could do a ‘here’s the three lettuce leaves and slice of avocado I eat for breakfast, she green ‘shake’ for lunch and the half a bit of steamed salmon for supper video’ without a massive backlash. I’d quite like to see more of these fabled tennis lessons with the kids though, that would be cute.
