Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

A British Royal playing hurling is a complete first.

Prince Charles had a go in 2017

allibaby · 06/03/2020 22:35

@thisenglishlife who are the trolls?

@N0tfinished that is lovely to hear.
I don't know what people get so offended at her wearing Green in Ireland or Tartan in Scotland.
I also think it is quite endearing.

Just a thought with regards to Camilla wearing her trusty old boots and the Queen wearing her trusty old Black shoes.
It coukd be something to do with insoles.
I have specially made insoles because I have foot problems but they only seem to be comfortable in one particular pair of trainers. I have tried them in other shoes but they just don't feel right so if I'm going to be on my feet for a while I always wear the same pair of trainers.
If trainers are not appropriate then I usually have to grin and bear the pain.
Just a thought.

itswinetime · 06/03/2020 22:43

Weren't there rumours of an Australian tour for William and Kate? I think during his speech at the U.K.-Africa summit William made some comments that could hint at a tour but nothing more definite than that...I would imagine we will see a fair number of tours this year as the U.K. tries to firm up alliances post brexit.

Was there also talk of a state visit soon or did I imagine that?

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2020 22:46

@itswinetime you didn't imagine it, the Japanese royals were due to visit this spring but I guess coronavirus may play havoc with those plans.

Well this kicked off a bit.

Whattheother2catsprefer
for a few posters she can't win - e.g. frequent comments that she dress too old but when she wears a different skirt shape it's too girly, she too wedded to skinny jeans but when she wears cropped wide legs they are monstrosities.

I largely agree with you here. Some threads ago I asked what DO people actually like about Kate’s clothes (and did get some nice replies) because I got a bit fed up with the endless deconstruction of it all. While I have to accept that the thread has a UK focus 😉 for me personally it becomes a bit samey at times and there is not much said about fashion and what we want to say with our clothes, which I find the most interesting part about royal dressing. If she’s not wearing interesting clothes then the conversation should peter out shouldn’t it? What is there to say about skinny jeans over and over.

Which brings me to the literal dressing and honouring the place you are visiting etc. I too think it’s fun to see how royal women do this on state visits or similar. The thing in Japan whatever it was that everyone went to last year was an example - chrysanthemum prints on dresses and what have you. I personally agree that one of the best ways to do this is to wear local designers or in some way support or highlight good design in some way. Why do we still have royalty I mean - one answer is representation and fundamentally PR. CPV does PR for Swedish designers and fashion all the time. I love it when Kate does similar. There is no empire, so the UKRF have a different role to fill and promoting British business is surely a massive part.

The Ireland green might be coincidental because it’s a good colour on her and she wears it a lot, but it would have been a great statement to wear an Irish designer. That’s building bridges and good PR. Like I’ve said before - if your role is largely to be a clothes horse you might as well use it. With good staff the effort involved should be minimal.

And I really appreciate the Erdems!

Leti in that pink trouser suit looks every inch the newsreader 😁

I read about the courts judgment about the Dubai kidnappings - good! Take the fucker down, I say.

drina27 · 06/03/2020 23:31

@banivani

You are like a welcome breath of fresh air.

banivani · 06/03/2020 23:39

Drina if you are my age then thank you for the compliment but if you’re a youngster you might be being sarcastic at me now and the clue is that you didn’t end the sentence with an exclamation mark. So just so you know I’ve decided you’re def 40+ so I can bask Grin

@BlingLoving
@Lunde
@mrscampbellblackagain

Thank you all for your tips. I will hopefully find something soon!

mathanxiety · 07/03/2020 04:22

I wouldn't feel insulted or patronised about KM wearing green in Ireland either.

However - when you choose what you see as a salient point about people you are meeting and emphasise that, you are edging toward crassness. She does it a lot in her official visits all over the place, so I'm not taking umbrage on behalf of Ireland specifically. It's a poor reflection on her and her stylists and advisors imo. It's like serving Irish stew to your Irish guests, curry to Indians, etc.

paradyning · 07/03/2020 05:28

Bea in a fab black cape sleeve dress and ankle straps! She also has a very cute B bracelet.
The less said about E's brown suede shoes the better in my opinion.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 07/03/2020 06:53

In the interests of these threads I’m going to actually try & seek out an Erdem number when I’m next in London & report back. Won’t be for a couple of weeks/month yet. But I want to see what on Earth makes people want to wear the designs. Because it isn’t for the photos.

Welshponyslave · 07/03/2020 06:56

I am a bit of a committed lurker to these threads (first one I check on a mor I guess before dragging myself up) but wanted to say that Meghan’s white top was dreamy. She always looks beautiful but that top made her look exquisite. Exactly how I look in my dreams 😂

Becles · 07/03/2020 06:59

Love the whole outfit, although a slightly lower neckline would have been good.

Two points though

  1. bare legs - the other thread we don't mention would be frothing about the obvious signs of insincerity or attention seeking by now.

  2. Edo is wearing SPARKLY trousers! Rubbish shoes, but this could be the worthy male successor to Charles in the fashion dabbler stakes. At the very least we get more than dad wear to talk about. Yes you heard me, SPARKLY trousers. Be still my heart 🥳

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/03/2020 07:09

Bea looks as if she’s lost weight in those pics. And I’m probably way behind the times but is that a tattoo on her wrist.

She looks really well and her legs look fab. Was it not cold in London?

paradyning · 07/03/2020 07:14

How did I miss the sparkly trousers?!

paradyning · 07/03/2020 07:15

It's a club entrance stamp! Even royalty need one

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/03/2020 07:20

Oh thanks. I don’t get out much 😂

paradyning · 07/03/2020 07:25

I thought it was a tattoo at first too 😂

SunshineCake · 07/03/2020 07:25

I don't think it is news that Meghan won't be in the UK for a long while.

I've just read that Sophie buys the odd thing for Catherine and is now also a secret shopper for the Queen.

LizziesTwin · 07/03/2020 07:27

Bea isn’t working in that photo, she’s been papped coming out of a restaurant, she’s also not a senior member of the RF.

I don’t care whether people wear tights or not but I’d wear them for work events in a formal setting.

mistermagpie · 07/03/2020 07:27

Bea looks nice, I like her belt a lot and she has lovely coloured hair.

Leti upthread also has great hair but that pink trouser suit is the exact shade of pink I hate! Kate would look good in that cut of trousers though - I think it's a much sharper look than the wide-leg culottes or the drapey flared ones she wore with that purple blouse that time.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 07/03/2020 08:00

I couldn’t give a stuff about bare legs. I’ve said it on these threads & the other. I go bare legged when I can so I’m no one to judge.

Inniu · 07/03/2020 08:26

Would Camilla be wearing medical stockings under those boots.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/03/2020 08:42

Is she unwell?

OP posts:
FiveTwoFaster · 07/03/2020 09:21

I think she’s got a bruise or marks or something so wants them covered up.

Or she could just really love the boots!
