Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

Wow. I am now sure - if there was any doubt - that Erdem is my very worst designer. Poor Matilde.

paradyning · 06/03/2020 20:59

Where's Max when you need her

justasking111 · 06/03/2020 21:01

Seeing pictures of clothes in 2 dimensions really does not do them justice. In real life they may all look gorgeous.

Is it not funny that slender Kate is not slavishly emulated size wise but the Kardashians are.

itswinetime · 06/03/2020 21:07

I agree justasking I'm often not a fan of an outfit but I warm to it seeing it in a video I'm sure that would be even more true in person.

Personally I would rather have Kate's figure than Kardashian but I'm not disciplined enough for either Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2020 21:18

I would say Kate's figure is easier to emulate than Kim K's, which looks almost unnatural.

OP posts:
Spudlet · 06/03/2020 21:20

I thought Kim K had quite famously had a lot of work done? And she’s meant to be into waist training and all that malarkey as well.

Haggisfish · 06/03/2020 21:32

Yes Kim k has had arse implants!

allibaby · 06/03/2020 21:36

@AudacityOfHope such childish responses Hmm

I'm not trying to derail the thread as I like coming on (and lurking) but my opinion is that some of the comments regarding Kate Cross the line.

I loved Meghan in the White outfit.
I think White looks fab against her skin tone.

MotherofPearl · 06/03/2020 21:40

Uh-oh. The black boots again.

Actually this combo is fine. Camilla has a nice warm face I always think.

Maybe Camilla just really likes those boots. I've had to bin my favourite navy suede boots this week after about six years I think, and I'm most unhappy about it. It's tricky finding boots when you're a summer, the general easy to find options are black or chocolate brown so navy/burgundy/grey boots become firm favourites when I can find them. My favourite boots are purple suede but I keep them for best. Seeing as I have no life and 'best' means they live in their box, they remain in excellent condition ten years on Grin

frugalkitty · 06/03/2020 21:46

Or, maybe Camilla lurks on these threads and seeing the general reaction to Kate's different green coats is just playing with us and just has ten pairs exactly the same Wink

paradyning · 06/03/2020 21:50

Cans looks great. Like the little puffy bits on her shoulders.

The Figi comparison isn't a great one - it sprang to mind because I remember the dress wowed but they weren't in Figi for 6/7 outfits worth of time so percentage of outfits wise Meghan was probably in the flag colour more than Kate was! It was pointed out that both Meghan and the Queen wore green in Ireland and they were left off for not looking like costume - but Kate was in (admittedly fairly horrible) dresses not a red wig and some reject from the River Dance wardrobe. Ireland is particularly tricky for the British monarchy. Red/white/blue probably wouldn't go down well. Orange could be contentious. Us mere mortals don't have to over think the message that could be taken from our clothes. Kate doesn't necessarily get it totally right but she rarely gets it spectacularly wrong which given all the factors she has to consider is quite a feat in itself.

mistermagpie · 06/03/2020 22:01

I like CPV's ankle boots a lot, gives the look a bit of an edge.

Gotta love Camilla and her favourite boots, but she looks good there. She actually always looks nice in he real and seems like she really gets involved at events.

I didn't like Meghan's white outfit. It just seemed a bit too summery abc I'm not sure the skirt's texture was doing much for her.

Re the Kate criticism - I genuinely can't think of a time she hasn't looked nice. Yeah she's picked the odd bad dress but she has lovely hair and a great figure, plus a big smile, and so still looks better than most people on their best day.

I actually like her coat dresses and think they serve a useful purpose. The type of events she wears them to are the type of thing that I would be in an utter spin about what to wear. In reality most people wouldn't have a clue what to wear to these things and often they are outdoors so if she picked a nice dress it would be covered by her coat anyway. May as well combine the two.

Spudlet · 06/03/2020 22:02

I think it’s the level of formality that she has to reach that make things feel costume-y sometimes. Meghan never had to be as formal, her position (and no doubt also her personal style) is different. The Queen is a totally different generation, one which does often dress more formally. But Kate is still a young woman (go easy, anyone commenting on that, I’m the same age!) and in general, women of our age do not need to dress so formally. So it looks a bit - odd I suppose, though I’m not sure that’s the word I want. It’s not something we’re used to seeing. Therefore, it can look a bit unnatural.

mistermagpie · 06/03/2020 22:02

Spelling was terrible there sorry!

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2020 22:07

What's Kate and William's next tour? I heard rumours of one a while ago but can't remember what it was. South America?

N0tfinished · 06/03/2020 22:20

I do have an opinion on Kate's green white & gold... as I'm Irish. I didn't feel insulted or patronized... I just thought she was working to signal their positive intentions, maybe a bit over the top, but charming nonetheless. I loved how engaged & warm they were. A British Royal playing hurling is a complete first.

I'm guessing their job was Boris-related damage limitation & working to maintain connections between our countries post Brexit.

All in all I had a v positive impression.

MotherofPearl · 06/03/2020 22:25

I really love Leti's hair. She looks good as usual but I'm personally not keen on that pink and prefer her in bolder colours.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2020 22:27

Not fashion-related but we were chatting about Princess Haya who ran away from her husband a while ago and the court has released a judgement on the case.
