Late 40s. Where do you shop

I’m not seeing much on my usual go to shops so Mint Velvet, Hush, Marks and John Lewis.

Looking for suggestions for other good online clothes shopping.

It's dire isn't it. I prefer independent boutiques but if we're talking high street, then I go to mainly river island, Sainsbury's, Tesco, mint velvet, h&m, Zara and I barely find anything in any of them.

Early 50s and joining you shamelessly as am in a navy/black trousered rut.

However, what I do if I have time, is look on the JL app rather than wandering round because they have 104 women's brands, do a bit of looking round and saving to wishlist etc then wait for discounts.

That's how I rediscovered Hobbs and Jigsaw. And (don't laugh) Betty Barclay have some lovely simple well made and we cut tops once you've passed through the animal/gaudy prints. But that's the same everywhere really.

Must admit, not seeing much that grabs me anywhere though at the moment.

Other Stories and Cos. Arket is ok and Massimo Dutti. I don’t go to any of the shops you mentioned.

I’ll take a look at jigsaw. Never heard of me and em. I’d forgotten about Cos.

I discovered Me & Em through their shameless product placement on here a few years ago (you know those threads where someone asks for recommendations and the first 10 responses go "try X" ) but it's lovely good quality, classy stuff. Wait for the sales though.
I have some wide leg Palazzo style trousers from there which had people for the first time in years say "oooh those are fab"

I have tried to look at Cos because I'm tall and I feel it should like me....but so far I just think wtf. I think maybe, like Zara, the website images don't do it justice. I might give it another go.

I'm early 40s but...
Whistles, zara, online boutiques like biscuit, all edinburgh, frontiers women edinburgh, the dressing room, the mercantile london. Also the "cheaper" ranges at Net-a-Porter and selfridges - these are mostly French or Scandinavian brands like: a stine Goya, ganni, leon & harper... the dressing room etc stocks the brands and then you can check out more on other websites if you want to see the full ranges. Ganni is expensive so I tend to wait for sales. selfridges does 75% off a few times a year.

Also Kitri and Finery for local ones.

I love the expensive places like Jigsaw and whistles and sometimes I might get inspiration on those sites (and also, often, buy things) but if I really won't stretch to their prices I look on zalando. They have great filters.

So if you put in ankle boots, and filter colour white, heel low, a hundred pairs will come up nearly.

Zalando also has ''inspire me'' like the other more expensive sites ! but I think you like a look you can then go and browse through a similar item in your price range.

Can I do white boots again at 49?? I had a pair in the 80s. I loved them.

John lewis have good filters too so if you're looking for a coral top you can look through hundreds.

I tend to half know what I want as well as being very open to being inspired.

I don't think we probably should have done white boots in the 80s either My friend and I were looking at photos the other week, I had white boots, red boots, yellow boots (wtf) I looked like I was auditioning for the Wiggles.

My go to’s are Boden, white stuff and fat face. Boden’s jersey dresses are unbeatable. White stuff and fat face sell nice knitwear.

I have also rediscovered Debenhams and principles has been good for work. I work in a school so need to be smart but not too formal so wrap dresses with a cardigan is my go to.

I’ve gained weight and am a 16/18 now with my weight on my stomach so finding it more difficult to dress myself in a style that I love.

Find summer dressing so much easier than winter. I hate trousers and jumpers. So usually layer up with long sleeve dresses and thicker cardigans and woollen tights.

I think it depends what you'd classify yourself as in terms of personal taste. Whether you're more on the classic side, conservative, fashioney etc

50, but haven't changed my shopping habits in the last few years. I live in a rural area so effectively shop online only.

I aim to buy organic for cotton / recycled for man-made etc, but find a lot of ethical clothing companies don't suit my style which limits things. (I prefer sharper / a bit more edgy, not drapy flowered prints.)

I've had a few things recently from Urban Outfitters (winter & summer versions of skater trousers & a jumpsuit), & tops from Monkii (I think part of H&M but seem to have more organic/recycled options). Both definitely have more 'grown up' offerings amongst the teenagey stuff.

I used to like Finisterre clothing but they've sized everything up & so recently even their small sizes have been too big for me (short-arse). But things I've bought in the past I still wear and wear.

My absolute favourite jumper is from Brora (lambswool), but their prices mean definitely sale only. Their other clothing also looks interesting & they generally seem to have quite a lot of sale offerings, but haven't bought anything as yet.

Hobbs is lovely too for ocassionware or Fenwright Manson

Sezane, French connection, AllSaints and Oliver Bonas are all favourites of mine in addition to a couple you've already mentioned (op). I very rarely shop in M&S and also can never find anything I like in Zara.

I'm 43 with a fairly low budget.
I like Zara, River Island & Oasis when I've got more money plus bits from Accessorize & trainers from Office or Schuh.
Otherwise its Primark, Dorothy Perkins, Tesco (surprisingly good for clothes / footwear & now have a sterling silver range).

Second urban outfitters and sezane! And Zalando!! Asos has a few good brands too. Weekday is a well priced Scandinavian one I like on there.

I’m mid-40s. I’m struggling with the new season stuff. I haven’t found anything I really like in Hush, Mint Velvet or Hobbs. I quite like a few things in Boden though.

More generally, I like Warehouse for knitwear, Gap for trousers, Jigsaw for fine knits and trainers, Hobbs for Jackets, and The Fold for work wear (it’s £££, but I have to dress very smartly for hearings).

Have you tried Baukjen? Sometimes they have nice stuff.
