I bought this coat... The colour is more vibrant than the full length pics show (my 10yr old was the photographer). Slightly concerned my youngest thought it was a dressing gown...

Thank you. Sadly my size is sold out.

cakeandchampagne · 17/02/2020 12:58

I think your staple coat looks better than the new one.
Maybe another one will turn up on eBay.
The new one seems to be thicker material and much more material- did you measure & compare them?

PickleBottomNo3sMum · 17/02/2020 13:58

I love it but that because I recently bought something quite similar - slightly daker in colour and single breasted, not dressing-gown style though. Agree that a shorter size might work better, can you wait and see if any are returned?

PickleBottomNo3sMum · 17/02/2020 14:12

This is mine, different shape and colour you yours although the shape is prob more similar to your other coat. It probably is too long for me but I love it.

PickleBottomNo3sMum · 17/02/2020 14:14

Oops

Your own coat is much better, OP.

FuckingHateRats · 17/02/2020 15:49

picklebottom I love yours! Where is it from?

Looking at your new coat and your old coat, thought it might be a good compromise. It’s from &OtherStories, from last year I think. I got mine not long ago from eBay, they are quite £££ new. Just had a quick look and I can’t see any for sale at the moment but worth keeping an eye out. I am 12/14 and my coat is a 36 (10?) so you’ll need to size down.

Sorry it’s not v helpful of me to suggest something that’s not actually available at the mo Sad

FreakStar · 17/02/2020 16:13

Single breasted coats are so much more flattering- I would only ever go for for double breasted if the cut was slim and fitted. If you want a similar style but with less fabric then Other Stories have this one that looks nice. www.stories.com/en_gbp/clothing/jackets-coats/product.wool-blend-belted-long-coat-beige.0796677001.html

PickleBottomNo3sMum · 17/02/2020 17:21

Just had a look at DePop, they have a few nice OtherStories coats. I think dark purple/burgundy would look fab on you. Am just a tiny bit obsessed with coats 🤦🏻‍♀️

FuckingHateRats · 17/02/2020 21:18

Aargh am in a Depop rabbit hole!!!

Did you see the dark purple belted one OP? Suppose the trouble is you can’t try them on. I took a gamble on mine after stumbling across a photo of someone wearing it online.

FreakStar · 17/02/2020 22:39

I have that coat too Picklebottom but in Camel colour- I am a size 12 and got my regular size (size 40) so mine's more 'oversize' than yours but I think it's supposed to be- I prefer it a bit looser.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/02/2020 22:43

To be honest I too thought it was a dressing gown, sorry

SwansGlide · 17/02/2020 22:43

I'm very fond of vintage clothes in general but this looks like one of my gran's coats from the late 1970s and not in a good way.

There are far better versions of this type of duster coat out there. I'd keep looking!

yellowallpaper · 18/02/2020 23:35

It's swamping you. To carry this type of coat off, you need to be very tall, but you look quite dainty.

MyfanwyMontez · 18/02/2020 23:40

You look lovely, but my first thought on the coat was dressing gown.

FuckingHateRats · 19/02/2020 12:58

I'm 5ft 9, I don't know if that's considered tall or not?

I’m 5ft 2 and I’d certainly hope 5ft 9 is considered tall or I’d never find clothes to fit me!

Sooverthemill · 19/02/2020 14:16

@Patti I'm 5' 1 and anyone over 5'5 is a giant. @FuckingHateRats Of course you are tall!

drina27 · 19/02/2020 14:42

OP, you are tall. You must know that!

FuckingHateRats · 19/02/2020 17:33

Haha I think I'm just average but my husband is 6ft 5 so I think my perception is skewed!

Does he play rugby!?

lilgreen · 19/02/2020 18:34

My husband is 6ft 5 too but I’m 5ft 5!! You’re tall op!
