I bought this coat... The colour is more vibrant than the full length pics show (my 10yr old was the photographer). Slightly concerned my youngest thought it was a dressing gown...

Is the coat supposed to be crumpled/wrinkled like that? To me it looks really poor quality and for that I don't like it. You on the other hand have an amazing figure and posture OP, you can pull anything off. I'd go for a wool coat in one size up and it'll look fab on you.

Sooverthemill · 16/02/2020 07:58

@FuckingHateRats this coat is too big for you just like the jumper Dress you posted here the other day. Do you hate your body so much? Surely not, there are tons of oversize/ boyfriend style coats around in that colour, look for one of those that fits you

Bluesheep8 · 16/02/2020 08:02

I don't like it on you. At all. Sorry. Your hair is stunning though!

this, even the best cut cannot make up for the material. I think it looks often better not to have the latest fashion than having it in a cheap, low quality and disposble way.

rainpain · 16/02/2020 08:58

I like oversize & don't subscribe to the rule that all clothes must be super flattering however I think you need a smaller size.

FuckingHateRats · 16/02/2020 10:26

It was £80. It's going back, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for an alternative. Hopefully bag something as the winter stock goes into sale.

It's nice but not £80 nice.

dairyfairies · 16/02/2020 10:56

this is nowhere near worth £80. I thought it was a £25 Primark version or something like that. Good idea to return it, OP. It's really not a nice well fitting coat.

cakeandchampagne · 16/02/2020 14:00

@FuckingHateRats I’d like to see the picture of your old favorite oversize coat.

Iamthewombat · 16/02/2020 14:48

I wouldn’t because if I don’t like it I might upset the OP.

FuckingHateRats · 16/02/2020 15:13

It's okay, I'm thick of skin and I am going to carry on wearing my old faithful regardless haha.

I'm slumming about in leggings, a hoodie and my hair all masked up in a towel turban just now but I'll take one tomorrow on my way out to work :)

It’s got a Stacey Dooley vibe about it.

mnthrowaway202020 · 16/02/2020 15:29

For what it’s worth, I understand the look that you were going for with this coat. The style in general is trendy and versatile, it’s just that this specific one isn’t quite right, especially not at £80 - you can find better!

goose1964 · 16/02/2020 16:18

My first thought was too big, it's bunching around your waist.

PattiPrice · 17/02/2020 01:21

I thought it looked really cool.

I don’t think oversized is popular on MN. I remember threads slating Meghan Markle for wearing similar style coats. I thought she always looked great.

I like oversized and the colour was a nice change from tan/black/grey/navy.

FuckingHateRats · 17/02/2020 07:51

As requested, my staple coat.

Which is much less overwhelming to my eye and looks really good

NiteFlights · 17/02/2020 08:57

That’s much better. Thanks for posting it. I still think it’s a bit big for you actually - hard to tell but the shoulders look big.

I do get the appeal of oversized clothes, though I’m too short for an oversized coat - I have a few quite boxy jumpers and cardigans which I love, and I never wear anything really fitted. But you do seem to want to hide your sihouette completely perhaps by wearing things that are just too big and I think that rarely works.

ElderAve · 17/02/2020 09:03

My rule is always that if you have to ask it goes back. You'll never love it more than when it's brand new.

peachgreen · 17/02/2020 09:05

Much better length!

FuckingHateRats · 17/02/2020 09:08

I think that's just for coats - today I'm wearing skinny jeans and a fairly fitting blouse, and I'm often in fitted tops tucked into trousers. Once the coat is off you can see I have a shape going on!

Where are your tan shoes from? I love them!
You have a great style FuckingHateRats

FuckingHateRats · 17/02/2020 09:15

They are ASOS. I have them in tan, burgundy and black and they are my staple work flats. If you search 'Vamp flats' they'll come up :)

Once the coat is off you can see I have a shape going on! I stand corrected Grin I like the shoes too!

StarlightLady · 17/02/2020 09:38

Staple cost is much nicer in my view.
