I bought this coat... The colour is more vibrant than the full length pics show (my 10yr old was the photographer). Slightly concerned my youngest thought it was a dressing gown...

I’m not keen at all.
Do you love it though? That’s what’s important.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/02/2020 22:50

I am small and curvy and I have an H&M oversized coat which I love, but I had to size down to make it look right. The small looks fashionably oversized whereas the medium looked like I was wearing my dad’s coat.

Ohyesiam · 15/02/2020 22:50

I love your style

Shamazing · 15/02/2020 22:53

No, I would definitely send it back.

Mixingitall · 15/02/2020 22:53

The colour and style suits you. I say return it and go down a size, and it will fit better.

Blingismything · 15/02/2020 22:57

I think you can do better, not keen on this colour also too voluminous. The style is lovely.

FuckingHateRats · 15/02/2020 23:21

It's completely sold out in all sizes now, so I can't swap for a smaller size 😬 I don't know, I think I love it but there is a lot of hate on this thread for it haha.

For those who don't like it, are you fans of oversized coats in general? I.e. would you think all oversized coats looked like they drowned me, or it is just this one in particular? I'm tempted to put a pic up of my favourite coat which I wear to death and is also oversized so you can compare.

I think the oversized look only really works on people that are very tall. This and the dress yesterday were just too big and baggy and in all honesty don’t flatter you. I can tell you are really keen on the oversized look though! I’m sure there will be something out there oversized that works for you. I don’t think I ever would have liked the dress but maybe a size down in the coat would have been ok. It’s definitely not a look I’d personally go for but I sometimes admire it on other people but like a PP said I think the oversized coats etc have to be really excellent quality and probably cost a lot in order to look chic rather than bag lady if that makes sense?

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 15/02/2020 23:30

Love it. However if you want rid and are a size 23 I'd happily take it off your hands! Grin

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 15/02/2020 23:31

Ps size 12 not 23! Angry

yogo · 15/02/2020 23:39

You look like you're wearing your MSN's dressing gown.

I love oversized coats but this one isn't good on you. I would return it.

yogo · 15/02/2020 23:39

Your nan's, not MSM

avocadont · 15/02/2020 23:52

Big coats are great and this one is fab on you

drina27 · 16/02/2020 00:59

You look great!

Letthemysterybe · 16/02/2020 01:16

I think that you look cool and are totally rocking the look.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 16/02/2020 01:28

I like the colour and you carry it off well. I prefer it open, when you have it tied at the waist it does look a bit like a dressing gown.

zurigirl · 16/02/2020 01:58

I think it looks great on you Smile

dontgobaconmyheart · 16/02/2020 02:51

I love the oversized look OP as a general rule but I do think it's a size too large and that makes it look untidy rather than oversized in an on trend sense. No issue with the tie waist, I like them and wear them and think done right they look cool.

I like the coat but think the quality doesn't look fantastic and also not sure on the colour now we are going into spring- I wouldnt get that much wear out of if even if I started wearing it now.

mnthrowaway202020 · 16/02/2020 03:07

I could only really judge if I knew how much it cost? Having slightly unflattering items in your wardrobe is fine if 1. You like them and 2. You can afford to keep it and also buy alternative flattering options

I am short so hyper sensitive to clothes that are too big as opposed to trendy oversized. The things that make this coat a no would be the massive sleeves - sleeves should comfortably reach your wrist without all the extra material gathering near your elbow/upper arm and also shouldn’t cover your hands. Then the length is too long, I think the coat needs to be more fitted to pull off this length. I know it has a belt but I hate the way the belt makes your coat gather like a tied-back-curtain. At such a long length I think it would only look decent with skirts, dresses and heels.

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 16/02/2020 06:54

It looks lovely, emphasises your tiny waist.

Hollyhead · 16/02/2020 07:24

Completely wrong colour on you, style ok but looks a bit long - I think it makes you look shorter than you probably are.

0verthehill · 16/02/2020 07:43

I love oversized anything. But not this coat on you, sorry. It's way too big. And I love the colour but I don't think it's the best colour for your skin tone.

Also if you're wearing something oversized then I think it should be worn lose. When you belt it, it looks really weird as there's far too much fabric. It can either be really baggy or belted but not both imo.

timeforawine · 16/02/2020 07:46

I agree with your youngest, it looks like a dressing gown. Sorry

NiteFlights · 16/02/2020 07:47

@FuckingHateRats yes, please post a pic of your other coat. I do usually like oversized coats - would be good to compare.

dairyfairies · 16/02/2020 07:51

horrible colour and you are totally swamped by it. get rid.
