Anything you have found a waste of money and wish you didn’t purchase, I’ll start Kevin A contour pallet! Looks grey on my face

OP posts:
BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 20/02/2020 22:04

They'll be the best!
The MN Perfumistas keep PP in business. I have about 80 of their perfumes.

beanaseireann · 20/02/2020 23:26

I also hated Weleda Skin Food and the tube burst.
I won't rebuy.

AgentCooper · 20/02/2020 23:35

Double Wear Light. Though thankfully I didn’t actually buy it, just used a sample for a few days. I had barely worn make up on mat leave and wanted to look groomed for returning to work so I went to the Estée Lauder counter. I hated it. It smelled like foosty old talc, aged me horribly and made my skin look flat and dry.

I’ve never found a foundation that works for me tbh, so am sticking with my Clinique CC cream.

Starksforthewin · 21/02/2020 03:16

I’ve long been astonished at the hype around Charlotte Tilbury.

They must have a marketing budget the size of the GDP of a country!

Everything I’ve tried has been awful. Eye shadows that flake, pencils that don’t sharpen properly ( even with their own £££££ sharpener 🙄), dry lipsticks, I could go on and on.

Now they’ve brought out a whole range around ‘Pillow Talk’ their most promoted lipstick. Extending a lip shade to eyeshadows, nail products etc is a stretch too far.

Is she just well connected? Her entire brand is tarnished for me.

TeaAddict235 · 21/02/2020 11:25

Totally agree @BookMeOnTheSudExpress I find that too many sheep on MN rave on about Cos and Hush and their clothes are sludge green for the woman who is scared to love colour and shape or style. I don't want to look like a bat or a wombat for that matter. Fanks

You get this whole "have you tried Cos?" When someone is looking for a white t shirt/ a jumper/ a dress / a bogey. Of FFS

beanaseireann · 21/02/2020 12:49

I like Cos Blush

damnthatanxiety · 22/02/2020 08:39

TeaAddict235, wow, reel in the anger. For the 'woman who is scared to love colour'. Why can't you just accept that some people like brights and some like muted instead of feeling the need to judge other people with judgements like 'scared'. Just don't do that. Stop being mean and judgemental. What is wrong with people FFS.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/02/2020 10:56

Oh pish, people judge all the time,no point pretending we don't. There was a time when MN celebrated judginess by donning our judgey pants, sadly those days are gone. I read Tea's post as half joking.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 22/02/2020 11:07

I like muted beiges and taupe because I look like death warmed up in bold colours.

Shit, I’ve said it again!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/02/2020 11:09

LOLGrin

FakeFraudSquad · 22/02/2020 11:28

Just sneaking in and sneaking back out again to whisper that I also hate the Cos look. It would do nothing for me and a lot of it reminds me of some sort of a Communist work uniform. Also don’t like Hush that much. Sorry Style and Beauty. I do like Mint Velvet though if that redeems me a little.

gingersausage · 22/02/2020 11:53

I’ve lost track of what we’re “supposed” to like these days 🤣. With all the shill-bots it’s hard to know.

dkl55 · 22/02/2020 12:06

fake - agree. Cos looks awful on me. I have a friend who loooks amazing in it and no she's not 6ft and skinny.

Fedupwithmyhouse · 22/02/2020 12:07

A Bobbi Brown face powder that had a sparkle in it - I look like I’ve just ran a 10k when I wear it.

dkl55 · 22/02/2020 12:09

Oh and chanel varnish. AWFUL.

TitsInAbsentia · 22/02/2020 18:49

For those who too napalmed their teenage skin with the ten o six, I'd forgotten all about it!!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 22/02/2020 19:01

ShookethtotheCore, thanks for the flash balm tip, I think it's a great product but I've been doing it all wrong. I will now follow your instructions and do it better! Grin

I'm nodding at all the CT comments - apart from the full-fat mascara, for me, it's the best one I've used yet. Everything else - lip-gloss and airbrush gloop, terrible, seeks out and plants itself in every single pore.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 22/02/2020 19:02

Tits, I remember that! The smell of it just came back to me seeing that poster. Yes. Napalm, that's what it was.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 22/02/2020 19:15

Armani luminous foundation

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 22/02/2020 19:27

Having just pulled the totally crap Decleor lip balm out of my pocket, I'll add that to the list.
Now, Carmex, for about £8 less, is a holy grail.

CallofDoodee · 22/02/2020 19:32

Huda Bombshell liquid lipstick. I must have weird colouring or something because it was straight up shit brown on me!

Thecazelets · 22/02/2020 20:03

Too many to list them all but a few highlights include:

Trish McEvoy lipstick - went all wobbly and kept falling out of the case after a few uses
Bobbi Brown stick foundation - my face was like an oil slick after an hour
Laura Mercia Silk Creme foundation - Grainy, separated, simultaneously thick and poor coverage. Worst foundation I have ever used.
Pixi Glow tonic - did nothing at all as far as I could see
Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer - made my hair feel simultaneously greasy and straw-like
Omorovicza moisturiser - brought me out in spots
Anything from the Protect and Perfect Boots range - brings me out in huge, painful spots
Egyptian Magic cream- huge pot of grease that I realised I have no idea what to do with
Mac Studio Fix powder foundation - packaging broke almost immediately and it hardened and caked so it was impossible to apply, also smelt very strange after a few weeks

I have so far resisted buying anything from the CT range and am currently using a very limited selection of tried and tested products which I know work for me. I love makeup but it makes me cross and sad that so many hyped products are so bad, especially when they're so expensive - and non-returnable.

TitsInAbsentia · 22/02/2020 20:10

I've got one of those lumea ipl things...cost a fortune, doesn't work on me. I really must find a darker haired fairer skinned person to donate it to.

CT magic cream...there was no magical revelation at the end of the £70 Hmm

Sarah Chapman several of the products, and the plastic wheely facial massager...the only thing I looked after many uses was stupid....

I do however like the ordinary products, but I use specific products that are the same ingredients as a load of skinceuticals I was advised to use by a skin care consultant, saved a fortune. I think there is a temptation to use them all but you really just need to use one or two specific things for your 'issues'.

beanaseireann · 22/02/2020 20:30

Thecazelets
I agre with you re the Egyptian Magic Cream.
The only magic in it is in the title that ensured I parted with my hard earned cash for a useless cream.

shirleyschmidt · 22/02/2020 20:50

Lancôme Prep and Matte primer - seems to result in dried-on, cakey foundation.

I'd asked for my usual Prep and Hydrate and was handed the wrong one, didn't notice until I got home 😫
