Anything you have found a waste of money and wish you didn’t purchase, I’ll start Kevin A contour pallet! Looks grey on my face

OP posts:
Cordial11 · 16/02/2020 13:01

Jane iredale makeup - crap

The Ordinary skincare - never seen any differences

MikeUniformMike · 16/02/2020 13:20

Perricone MD ‘cold plasma’ - I found it stinging and unpleasant. No discernible difference.

I like Nivea Soft - Astral seems to sit on top of my skin but is great for applying over serum.

Most of the luxury stuff I have tried hasn't been particularly impressive, and I suspect that magazine articles are influenced by advertising revenue.

ThinkingIsAllowed · 16/02/2020 13:36

Chanel nail varnish. Chips faster than Rimmel etc

itwaseverthus · 16/02/2020 14:08

Agree Thinking, was shocked at how poor the Chanel nail varnish performed. Lovely colours but woeful quality.

I don't get the love for Morocconoil hair oil either, left mine limp and flyaway.

Shookethtothecore · 16/02/2020 14:36

Hope the top worked- I would love a beauty swap shop!
Those who didn’t like the ordinary I do reccomend contacting there customer services, they gave me a great routine and recommendations based on the photo I sent them and my concerns, with their advice- I’ve really noticed a difference, before I was also underwhelmed

magicrainbowbeans · 16/02/2020 15:19

The Ordinary foundation was fine when applied then turned orange on my face after leaving home BlushAngry

Agree EA 8 hour is great for lips, wouldn't use it on my skin

Clinique moisturisers, my skin was pretty dry, worse than your average drug store product

A lot of products labelled for curly hair, are anything but

Benefit Hi Beam

CopperMugs · 16/02/2020 16:19

Babylis big hair
Chanel nail varnish
All Charlotte Tilbury
Guerlain meteorites

All recommended by Sali Hughes. All crap

snappycamper · 16/02/2020 20:30

Don't understand sali Hughes' popularity. So much of the stuff she's recommended is absolute crap

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/02/2020 20:48

Revolution Night Restore Oil - it was fine the first few times I tried it (I don't use it every night ,) then my skin decided it was completely overloaded and reacted by springing up 3 humongous spots .

I am 53 FFS . Spots !

I will recycle it to my elbows or something.

Every product I've ever tried for fine hair has been crap (volumising shampoos, sprays and so on). I've come to the co conclusion that it all basically does nothing, regardless of price. Ditto anything that claims to tighten pores.

Destinesia · 17/02/2020 20:04

@TheLadyAnneNeville

I find the post you wrote about Sali Hughes really unkind and not at all funny.

ScrambledSmegs · 17/02/2020 21:04

Going back a long, loooooong time here, but I'm convinced that all my skin woes can be traced back to using the bottled napalm that was Ten O Six. I swear it made my skin drier than the desert yet simultaneously greasy and spotty.

snappycamper · 17/02/2020 21:29

@dayslikethese1 totally agree on pore tightening/minimising products. Never tried one that has worked even slightly

GlitterToast · 17/02/2020 21:33

Babylis big hair
Kim kArdashian contour set
An Estee Lauder lipstick

Johnsonsfiat · 17/02/2020 21:49

I have never ever heard of The Ordinary. Is it in shops?
Bad products for me have been Aveda: tickles my scalp, bare minerals: powder makes u look powdery.
However, after nearly 50 years, I discovered the holy grail of conditioner. It's a thick gunky product in a pot by Pureology which has sadly been discontinued.

RuffleCrow · 17/02/2020 21:58

The only The Ordinary product that works for me is their niaciminide (for blocked/ large pores) it's the only thing that's made a lasting difference on my desperate dan- looking chin. Everything else from them has made my skin look worse.

Summer23 · 17/02/2020 22:12

CT Flawless foundation - great reviews but just looks weird on my skin

TheLadyAnneNeville · 17/02/2020 23:41

@Destinesia. I wasn’t trying to be funny. It’s an opinion. It’s a public forum. Prepare (from time to time) to be offended. I’ve never been tempted to buy much that Ms Hughes promotes because I don’t favour extreme pallor. Was it the term “death warmed up”? It’s a saying. It’s been a saying for many years. Today, having been in fields, freezing my nuts iff (also a saying) my friend said “come in and get warm ... you look like “DWU”. It’s an oft used phrase up here (in winter) where I live.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 18/02/2020 00:09

Lipsticks. Spent hundreds over the years buying them, giving them to friends and family and repeat. Finally decided, literally a few days ago, that I just don’t like bullet lipsticks and prefer gloss so I’ve given them all away now.

Powder bronzer and blusher, always makes me look like I’ve got far too much makeup on and i never look healthy, much prefer cream products.

Lip liners and eyeliners - same story as the lipsticks

Eyeshadow palettes, never use more than a few shades, I’ve switched to single shadows now and cream eyeshadow sticks

I’ve spent literally thousands over the years trying to find the perfect makeup collection, had drawers and drawers and drawers of the stuff which I’ve now spent almost six years decluttering. Just to get back to one makeup bag I used to have!!

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 18/02/2020 00:17

Oh and also I’ve always considered Charlotte Tilbury as one of my favourite brands but when I actually thought of all the products I’ve used and actually kept - it’s only been the Magic Foundation and the cream eyeshadow in Bette.

I’ve went through two bottles of the foundation but I prefer it cosmetics CC cream now so really I only have one CT product now

Deathraystare · 18/02/2020 10:18

I wish I could remember the names of the products but I can't. I have to wear waterproof mascara. Most of them are dry before I even use them for the first time. Unfortunately with my poor memory I keep buying the same ones again and again!

EuroMillionsWinner · 18/02/2020 10:23

Touche eclat. Total rip off.

beanaseireann · 18/02/2020 10:39

Frizz Ease - it didn't Sad

Someone mentioned Chanel bronzer.
I love my Chanel bronzer (it's a cream bronzer) and its W7 dupe.

beanaseireann · 18/02/2020 10:41

W7 dupe for Chanel is called Make Up and Glow bronzing base.
They may have discontinued it. Sad
