Thank you Chage I shall do that and watch with a very large drink to keep me going - thanks fir telling meWine

Episcomama · 10/02/2020 02:53

Julia Louis Dreyfus killed it! Just beautiful. (Pity about the lame award intro though...)

locoroco · 10/02/2020 05:09

Underwhelmed, so much black, black & pale together, nude colours & ruffles. Where's all the gems? Charlize wins for me, super elegant & statuesque.

I love the colour of Florence's dress & Mindy looked great in yellow. Penélope Cruz got the best Chanel. Margot Robbie needs a new stylist, she's so beautiful & used to have some amazing red carpet looks but something always looks off now.

I love Brie's cape & dress but think the colour washes her out. Renée looks good but I think she has worn better recently.

I really didn't like the pink & black dresses or Saoirse's

Here's the 2020 best dressed lists from Cosmo and Vogue.

Very few were fabulous this year.
Rene's was lovely.
Penelope Cruz looked great.
Laura Dern - not sure about the tassels.
Lily Aldridge was beautiful.
Saoirse Ronan - what was she thinking?
She needs to talk to Helen Cody, she's not a famous designer but is a brilliant one.
Catriona Balfe - the dress just doesn't do her justice, awful.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2020 07:39

No gown really stands out for me this year. I'd probably give it to Janelle Monae or Charlize Theron for their relatively plain dresses. Brie Larson would've been best dressed for me (love a cape!) if she'd worn a colour other than beige.

Saoirse's dress and hair were dreadful, and how can a beautiful woman like Caitriona Balfour keep getting it so wrong?

Agree re Laura Dern @beanaseireann, and she usually looks fabulous. I don't know what prompted her to don a Vegas stripper's bra!

DandyDuchess · 10/02/2020 07:45

I loved Billie Eilish & Natalie Portman.

Found Charlize & Renee’s dresses so boring.

Agree about Brie Larson - gorgeous dress and cape, perfectly fitted her, but colour washed her out and was meh.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 07:46

When I go to collect my awards I shall wear dungarees...

DandyDuchess · 10/02/2020 07:46

Laura Dern was a WTF were you thinking??!!!

hopeishere · 10/02/2020 07:46

Renee's dress is nice if a bit boring.

Lily Aldridge is gorgeous.

Don't like Laura Dern's the tassels are a weird addition.

Saiorse Ronan's is dreadful. It looks like two different dresses put together. Don't like those short fringes either.

hopeishere · 10/02/2020 07:49

Olivia Coleman's dress has way too much going on!! Buttons sleeves cape different colours and fabrics....

frugalkitty · 10/02/2020 07:57

Woken up this morning to find myself rather disappointed with the gowns from last night. I loved Renee's but even that hasn't really got the wow factor.

queenofarles · 10/02/2020 08:10

Penélopes vintage Chanel for me, perfection

the rest looks horrible , Versace is looking so dated lately all satin and beading yuck!

Brad Pitt and Joaquin Phoenix are looking so fine Blush
Brad looks better now than he did in his thirties.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2020 08:20

I liked how Billie Eilish subverted the Chanel suit and made it her own. It isn't anything I'd wear in a million years but she remained true to herself and looked supremely confident.

I also liked Natalie Portman's statement cape, embroidered with the names of all the women directors who didn't get nominated this year.

What I have seen so far has been largely disappointing. I loved Florence Pugh. I liked a few other (Margot Robbie, Renee Zellwegger).

I think Olicia Colman needs a new stylist, her red carpet wear is just not flattering.

MarshaBradyo · 10/02/2020 08:35

Keanu looked good.

The dresses were a let down. Janelle M looks good, as does Sigourney and Mindy

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2020 08:37

The Mail (never known for their fashion forwardness) have named Janelle as one of the worst dressed of the night!

beanaseireann · 10/02/2020 08:54

So many looked washed out in the dresses. The colours did nothing for them.
I'm sure stylists get paid a pretty penny. I'd sack some of them Smile

BlingLoving · 10/02/2020 09:17

Catriona Balfe was so disappointing. The top half kept coming up and then I'd see the bloody mermaid skirt thing and just go Ugh. Frankly tuxedo trousers or something would have been so much different. Also her lipstick clashed with her top! Grin

I don't know who Zazie Beetz is but she looked great.

Contraversially, I loved the top half of Laura Dern's dress but thought the skirt was awful. Completely unflattering and pointless. The top half felt a bit like a 20s flapper dress then it all just disintegrated into badly fitting prom dress.

Olivia Coleman, bless her, really doesn't get red carpet dressing does she? She looks like she had her velour trackies converted for the occasion.

The problem with some strapless/one shoulder dresses is that there's a real risk of some weird skin overhang, even on the slimmest of women. Regina King had some in some pictures. And in the pictures of Renee I've seen she's holding her arm out in such a way that I can't help thinking she's terrified that if she drops it, she'll have hanging skin.... Also how does she cope with one long sleeve and one bare arm? That would drive me crazy!?

Penelope Cruz might be my best dressed I think. Just a tiny bit quirky without being too hard core. I also loved Charlize. Scarlett could make a sack look good.

Sandra Oh's dress was surprisingly fun.

whitershadeofpale · 10/02/2020 09:26

Some Vanity Fair photos coming through www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-7985641/Sofia-Vergara-Jessica-Alba-Gabrielle-Union-lead-stars-annual-Vanity-Fair-Oscar-Party.html

Christy Tiegan’s is horrible and looks like it has greasy stains on the top.

I think I must be one of the few who doesn’t like Charlize Theron’s.
It’s the arm falling down bit- it would annoy me and I think it looks stupid. For a plain black dress Emma Roberts is my winner tonight.

locoroco · 10/02/2020 09:28

I liked Jessica Alba's VF dress, the nude suits her.

locoroco · 10/02/2020 09:34

wtf is Kim K & Suki Waterhouse wearing!!

The colour of Chrissy Ts dress is good on her but yeah weird stains & bad shape.
I love Kerry Washington's outfit, I'm so sick of sheer.
