@MotherofPearl well pepto bismol is an excellent description

SenecaFallsRedux · 15/02/2020 20:42

That is an interesting read. I wish we could hear more from Catherine from time to time. I think that because she is so good at the royal-ribbon-cutting kind of engagements that some might perceive her as lacking substance. But she is clearly an intelligent and thoughtful woman who does her homework and is devoted to her passions.

And, no camping for me either. I like my creature comforts, but I do have admiration for people who like to do that sort of thing. (I just channeled Maggie Smith as Jean Brodie when I said that. "For people who like that sort of thing, that is the sort of thing they like.") Smile

frugalkitty · 15/02/2020 20:57

I'm not a natural outside person either (hayfever and mega fear of wasps Blush) but I do enjoy camping.....the way we do it, with electric hook up, fridge, straighteners, hot water water bottle and my Cath Kidston pillowcases. I'm a high maintenance camper Grin

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 15/02/2020 21:35

It was very interesting reading that. I don’t do the outdoors much due to disabilities but I try & do things that they will remember.

TSSDNCOP · 15/02/2020 21:36

Oh dear, I made a dreadful threadal faux pas not being able to remember the number of Vogue questions.

Just listened to the podcast. I agree she comes across really well! Rarely to we hear her in conversation for such a long period of time she sounds happy, knowledgeable and friendly. Difficult to fake that for 35 mins I’d say.

Hairydilemma · 16/02/2020 08:05

G: Did you know he was going to be a boy?
D: I didn’t know, no it was a surprise. But also seeing… you know your husband, William, and things like that. (Huh?)

I wonder if here she was going to say something along the lines of ‘seeing how happy William was to have a boy’ or ‘William really wanted a boy’ or ‘I think husbands tend to want a boy first’, and then realised it would be out there forever so changed her mind and hence this slightly discombobulated sentence?

paradyning · 16/02/2020 08:13

Love these shoes M has on

rothys.com/products/the-point-black-honeycomb

Have been wanting to buy a pair since the first time I saw her in them but ££

JayAlfredPrufrock · 16/02/2020 08:17

I think you’re right Hairy.

myrtleWilson · 16/02/2020 08:24

I think the answer about seeing William wasn't necessarily intended to be specifically about whether first born was a boy but part of a wider response to the question 'what was it like to hold him' - the nature of a podcast is that it is more conversational where questions and answers collide more than in a formal interview.

I too thought she came across very well and deeply committed to this area of work.

In terms of the indoor/outdoor chat on here - my view is succinctly summed up by the Lemonheads "I can’t go away with you on a rock climbing weekend / what if something’s on TV and it’s never shown again?" Grin

PeakingDuck · 16/02/2020 08:30

But also seeing… you know your husband, William, and things like that. (Huh?)

That wasn’t the full sentence though, was it?

It was..

no it was a surprise. But also seeing… you know your husband, William, and things like that. Seeing the pure joy of his face it was really special.

So, while it wasn’t the most polished of sentences, it was hardly nonsensical?

The Rothy shoes are very pointy - not very foot shaped iykwim. ConSOLE (excuse pun ) yourself with that fact. Your feet wouldn't thank you.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/02/2020 09:40

Meghan looking very Meghany in a Misha Nonoo shirt. Harry looks very happy. And they appear to be flying economy!

@paradyning I'm not keen on pointy toes. I think I prefer the
round-toed version of that shoe.

Thanks for the public service tip there Bean. My feet and my wallet thank you too.
Like the round toe too Queen...

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/02/2020 10:08

I didn't think they were that expensive but for that price I'd probably want leather!

Didn't quote you or @ you, but only stated the name as it had already been quoted incorrectly and I put 73 incase anyone else wanted to look it up

Hairydilemma · 16/02/2020 10:56

Peaking, ah, I’d only read the post above quoting it. Your version makes more sense.

thisenglishlife · 16/02/2020 12:29

I suppose saying:
"But also seeing… you know your husband, William, and things like that."
does sound odd, but the statement makes sense all in all.

I enjoyed the podcast and I liked that Kate said that even though her HG was bad, she knew that others had HG much worse than her. She also came across as a devoted mother.

A English lecturer did a piece about her use of the 'youthful'/'American' like, DOC said:
and I was like
it’s like wow gosh
you’re kind of like
George and Charlotte were like
and you’re like
We were like
William was like
Third time round you’re like
And she said the phrase 'things like that' 18 times

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 16/02/2020 13:35

Meghan looks lovely in those pictures. Her casual style is what she seems most comfortable in.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 16/02/2020 13:41

If God had meant for us to sleep on the ground he wouldn’t have created super king beds and luxury hotels. I can’t think of anything worse than camping. It would be a relationship red flag.

Spudlet · 16/02/2020 16:51

Lol I like camping! DH likes bed and breakfasts Grin

Unfortunately I have managed to persuade him to go camping twice and both times we’ve experienced some minor catastrophe which has turned him against it even more... he will do camping pods though, hoping to take DS to one soon for his first camping experience! I think he’ll absolutely love it Smile

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/02/2020 17:28

"Camping pods" always reminds me of the infamous Tristan and Molly MN tale of woo!

mrscampbellblackagain · 16/02/2020 18:36

DH has realised with holidays that I am very 'extra'. He takes the children camping and I stay at home. We were meant to camp 2 years ago and I had a dreadful ear infection/perforated ear drum, he still laughs at the extremes I would go to in order to avoid camping.

This is not royalty related but watched Emma today at the cinema - highly recommend! I want to frolic in sprigged muslin.

Back to RF stuff, Harry looked good getting off the plane and MM always does casual well.

Horsemad · 16/02/2020 18:37

Imo, holiday facilities should always be better than your day to day life!
