Now this is SERIOUS - WWW's 10year younger boot camp, SEPT 07, WEEK ONE, all welcom

Hello! This is week one (again since we all kind of limped off the last one, given school holidays etc) of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a resuklt. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I am feeling very determined, having been on a very slippery slope over recent weeks...

WWW - if I were to roast beef tomorrow, how long will the left overs last in the fridge - specifically if rare (am getting excited about next weeks pack lunch for work)

I am going to a barbeque this evening so I know that I am going to drink wine and prpbably beer, eat salty fried snacks, dips - I'll try to stick to salsa not sour cream based, I will eat a whole variety of undercooked meat, though I have bought some monkfish and scallops to turn into kebabs, and I expect there to be Tiramisu for pudding. I will be too drunk when I get home to do my feet, but I shall hopefully be very happy.

There - it is easier to get my excuses in today than tomorrow when I will have a hangover and be full of regrets.

Hello. Not been on for a few days. Still a bit too snacky. but on the positive side, feet looking less craggy, peeing all the time due to mahooosive amounts of water and felt tiddly last night after one glass of red wine as I hadn't had any all week! Need to get up and move though this week.

WideWebWitch · 08/09/2007 14:23

uptomyeyes, we cooked it last Sunday and finished it on Thursday night so I reckon 4 days is fine in the fridge

Hi,

I claimed yesterday that I was logging off to do a workout DVD - well, liar, liar, pants on fire... I DID catch up with lots of friends yesterday and had a lovely time, which I reckon takes years off anyone.

I managed all week without alcohol and started today really well with a very vigorous circuits class. Just chilling this afternoon, catching up with application of various anti-ageing creams (nothing applied yesterday) and making a very healthy curry for tonight.

Still finding avoiding bingeing and drinking enough water my main challenges. However, I managed to get a dress on today which simply would not go on me last week, so bootcamp is working!

I've spent the morning moving electric fencing as the ponies have gone to eat the neighbours grass for them. Not exactly exercise but lots of fresh air.

I have just made an enormous fruit cake for DH but no doubt I'll eat a slice or two.

And I'm camping in the field with the DCs tonight which means no early night, no foot scrub, no body moisturising etc. We're having a bonfire so I'll be all stinky. And tomorrow I'll probably be too stiff to go running.

Bloomin' kids!

Patsy - hope you didn't singe your bottom.

Hello
terrible week for me but realised yesterday that I had pmt all last week. Hmm, no wonder it wasn't the house of happiness here. Poor dh.

Had bacon sandwich, chicken legs, potato wedges, Wotsits, tandoori chicken, wine yesterday

no exercise apart froma stroll around town.

I am torn about the house we liked (offered, it was turned down but now they've come back to us), we could get it and are seeing it again today but it was flooded and I'm suddenly realising I maybe ought to be concerned about that. But it is a bargain as a result. Sob.

No moving ponies around here but I did clean out guinea pigs - out doors but definitely not exercise.

WWW - I feel for you re your house dilemma. Was it flash flooding or is the house on the flood plain of a river? Could you speak to the current insurers and your own house insurers to see if it is insurable? There were freak flash floods a mile or so from me a couple of years ago - middle of London, basements and first floors were flooded when the sewers became overwhelmed during freak thunder storms - it hasn;t happened since and the properties still turn over so I presume the insurance isn't exhorbitant. On the other hand my BIL lives on a road that has flooded due to a river bursting its banks a couple of times. Those houses don't sell at all now.

Good luck

DuchessofN, I reckon all the 'not possible under canvas' stuff will have been more than made up for by the enromous amount of fresh air.

I have been a bit rubbish today re exercise (still hurting from yesterday's circuits), but I did go to a family party this lunchtime and come home perfectly sober - not like me at all. I also 'enjoyed' a sober Saturday night for the first time in many a moon. Would love to claim t hat I feel fabulous, but I am actually a bit tired and grumpy.

DH away all week, so rather than turn to wine for solace I am going to eat extra, extra healthily and read loads in the evening.

Hello. Have had an awful weekend foodwise but have purchased sun screen and am still putting foot cream and body lotion on too. Exercise has gone by the wayside unless you count walking around Manchester city centre and the Dr Who exhibition yesterday.

Belated happy birthday Winnie .

Pamina, so sorry to hear about your mum. Mine had a cancerous duodenum a few months ago and is now recovering from an operation to remove it - we are hoping that the operation has managed to remove the cancer for good but it is early days. Be kind to yourself . I hope the dds are well too btw.

www, what a dilemma, good luck with it.

www - can you please start next weeks thread bright and early so I can join in and be very very good. thank you.

IlDuchessadiNorksSposa · 09/09/2007 20:33

Camping was urgh. Both DS1 and I slept badly although DD1 slept like a log all night.
But lots of fresh air and quite healthy food today. I am making vegetable soup for tomorrow and can start running again properly as pre-school is back this week. I'm now off for a bath and moisturising and an early night.

Hello to everyone - including MI who I have seen elsewhere this evening - hope you had a good holiday!

WideWebWitch · 09/09/2007 21:26

Hello everyone, I might start a new thread tonight actually so I don't have to do it tomorrow. Oh I LOVE this time of year, hurrah for mists and mellow fruitfulness! I might actually start walking again this week, th eMoron is in front of me, will put it in my bag NOW.

We're not going to buy the house, it's a flood risk, and we prob wouldn't get a mortgage/insurance on it so never mind, we'll wait until next year when our deposit will be bigger etc. We're ok with it, it;s the right thing to do esp with the markets as they are - Prufrock, any views on what will happen?

Well done everoyne, new thread coming up.

NEW THREAD HERE

OP posts:
prufrock · 09/09/2007 21:54

Nope - housing market is completely irrational so not something I ever feel qualified to speculate on. Just buy a house because you love it and want to live in it.

Now is however a great time to have cash. Please don't tell me your savings are all just at your bank? Sainsburys are offering 6.25 at the moment, and Icesave 6.2. Internet accounts, so v. easy to manage. you can get your money back in 3 days (or nex day if you pay a CHAPS fee) and I know the Icesave one is really easy to open. (www.icesave.com)
