Now this is SERIOUS - WWW's 10year younger boot camp, SEPT 07, WEEK ONE, all welcom

WideWebWitch · 03/09/2007 08:25

Hello! This is week one (again since we all kind of limped off the last one, given school holidays etc) of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a resuklt. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I am feeling very determined, having been on a very slippery slope over recent weeks...

I would love to join in, but I have an exam on October 18th, so some late nights are certainly on the cards. I could do the other stuff though

Wilbur · 03/09/2007 16:36

I will join too - need a kick up the bum to lose the last 8lbs of baby weight (since I am not having any more babies and therefore no longer have an excuse) and generally get my groove back. The light is appearing at the end of the tunnel with ds2 off to nursery for 3 mornings a week this term. 3 whole mornings - what will I do with myself? Anyway, I am supposed to be getting down to some work, and not mumsnetting, so I will check in when I can.

legalalien · 03/09/2007 16:39

I don't like drinking water that much. Am alternating the stuff from the water cooler with the "stimulating hydration" of volvic revive....

bagpuss · 03/09/2007 16:43

I'll join in too if that's OK? Have lost a lot of weight in the last 12 months and just need to keep it off now. We got back from our holiday on Friday and my jeans are feeling a bit tight now.

I probably won't be able to get going on the exercise until the older two children are back at school on Thursday, that way I can do the school run on foot and add a bit extra on the way back to make up my 30 mins.

ahh sober, you have made me feel much better, ive put 9lbs on over the summer!

please can you tell me about your soup?

jaynehater · 03/09/2007 19:34

In the three hours since I signed up, I've drunk 1 glass of water - about 3/4 pint. At this rate, I'll have drunk today's ration by....Wednesday

Must try harder.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 03/09/2007 20:36

My goodness it's busy here today!

Had a fabulous SUNNY day at the beach, did lots of running on the sand to justify eating an ice cream. Toiled in the rockpools and bought home a bag of mussels which I cooked for dinner. With cream. And white wine. But hey, I get points for fresh shellfish, yes?

Everything else quite good - not enough water so I'm going to have another large glass now and take my iron supplement.

Definitely need an early night and will have to set my alarm for tomorrows school run.

dissle · 03/09/2007 20:39

tell us about your miso soup please sober.
ive had my 2litrese of water and written down every thing ive eaten today.

its a start.

Batters, where are you?
I just used your excellent walkit website (here for anyone who's interested) to calculate that I walked 3 miles in London today plus I reckon I did another half a mile this end. Calories burned are a measly 250 or something but hey, it's better than nothing.

although I did walk to a Pizza Express, sadly, where I consumed an American Hot and half a bottle of Pinot Grigio. Oh well, it was a big day

Tomorrow I will be More Serious about this!

Sobernow that sounds delicious, must give it a try. Can you freeze it at all do you know?

Well my start at the new bootcamp hasn't gone very well, packet of M&Ms and a glass of wine for tea

WideWebWitch · 03/09/2007 21:32

Although I REALLY should have used sunscreen. Will remember tomorrow.
Has anyone else got brown age spots on the backs of their hands? What can be done? Anything? AAaaagggh, I'm not ready for them.

Age spots - I have what look like very faint light brown freckles on the backs of my hands. There aren't many. But I'm sure they never used to be there.

Is this the start of something I'm not going to like?

jaynehater · 03/09/2007 22:37

Ahem, Bedfordshire, Duchess

Please tell me that there is a difference between freckles and age spots on the back of your hand. Aren't age spots pretty big??

Google Earth is also very good for homing in on somewhere and measuring a route pretty accurately.

I did half a boot-camp. Nando's with kids, followed by my life-force being slowly sucked out in toy shops by them, but drank lots of water, wore sunscreen and had chicken, tomatoes and olives for dinner (and a mini-Maltesers packet to feed my choc habit). Did not do rebounding as hoped because of lack of life-force but tomorrow school begins (hooray) although I'll probably be stuck in traffic most of tomorrow because of the tube strike (booooo).

moonshine · 03/09/2007 22:52

Ooops, we're meant to be in bed aren't we

WideWebWitch · 03/09/2007 22:53

BED NOW ALL OF US!

OP posts:
amateurarsedoctor · 03/09/2007 22:58

I'm well up for this!

I've been having "last suppers" for the last 5 days in preparation for the kids return to school and my return to healthy eating/drinking/exercising.

Don't get me wrong, I've adored the summer hols but have eaten and drunk myself a stone heavier (with the help of some prescription medication) and I'm determined to shift it and stop feeling like a slug.

Count me in.

Night all.X

bamamama · 04/09/2007 05:28

morning all! As suspected I now have the hip joints of a ninety year old. No more hiking round the lake for me for a while. Hope everyone is bootcamping in ernest - I seem to have even cracked the water intake in the last few days so I'm feeling righteous. Miso soup looks lovely Sobernow, ta for the recipe. I have spent the morning looking for liver spots. I think I can just about let them pass as freckles. It just if they start joining up I'm in trouble....

bamamama · 04/09/2007 06:51

sobernow - just re-read soup recipe. Is that 2 bulbs of garlic or 2 cloves...?
