Now this is SERIOUS - WWW's 10year younger boot camp, SEPT 07, WEEK ONE, all welcom

WideWebWitch · 03/09/2007 08:25

Hello! This is week one (again since we all kind of limped off the last one, given school holidays etc) of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a resuklt. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I am feeling very determined, having been on a very slippery slope over recent weeks...

Wow, lots of new, keen Bootcampers, that's great. Welcome new and old!

I'm in again and am going to try and be REALLY serious this week (excluding yesterday!) DD starts Reception next week and one of my main aims when starting Bootcamp months ago was to NOT look like the oldest mum at the school gate even though I probably would be. Monday will be the test

Wilbur - another of my aims was to shift the last 8lbs of baby weight too and I did manage it though a family reunion/party trip to the Isle of Man in the last fortnight has meant that I may have to shift some of it all over again The trip was VERY high on happiness though so worth it!!

I struggle with the water too (and the number of times I have to find a toilet in a hurry!) but find sitting with a bottle of water at the computer helps.

Good luck all.

Hello. Can I join please? I need to shift, ahem, quite a few pounds but most of all want to stop feeling sluggish. DS1 back at school tomorrow (bunting at the ready!) and DS2 at pre-school next week so no excuses for not exercising. Have Flexitol, use sunscreen, water intake needs to be massively increased. Drink way too much coffee and although I eat quite healthy veggie meals I am a chronic snacker.

winnie · 04/09/2007 09:19

Hello everyone.

I had a good day yesterday.
Did 12000 steps, ate healthily,no booze, about 1litre of water (could do better, all the usual cleansing, pampering palava Played basketball with ds Was in bed reading at 10.15. Must use sunscreen everyday.

WWW, I have noticed brown age 'spots' around my hair line/ forehead this summer which is decidedly worrying

I am determined. Having lost 3 1/2 stone doing this (but having lost nothing over the summer) I need to kick myself into action to get rid of the remaining excess by the new year. That is my goal anyway ... [dreaming emoticon]

winnie · 04/09/2007 09:20

Yes, where is Batters & Marina?

legalalien · 04/09/2007 09:32

feeling very proud of myself because after a rubbish day at work yesterday, managed to limit myself to a bowl of thai chicken soup and one glass of wine, plus a bottle of water for dinner! Didn't cook the Thai chicken soup from scratch, but I was home alone (apart from somnolent toddler), so am letting myself off.

have done flexitol... does orange juice sort of count as water? Seem to have got into the habit of drinking half a litre of Pret orange juice for breakfast - it seems healthy enough to count for something?

smugmumofboys · 04/09/2007 09:47

Have just been to shave legs, apply body lotion and my morning dose of Flexitol! Can I be so bold as to recommend Clinique Super City Block as a fab sunscreen? It's a very light foundation with an SPF40. It's great.

So what's the line on coffee? How much (real) am I allowed? Please say at least a couple of mugs.

uptomyeyes · 04/09/2007 10:08

Oh can I join please! The kids have gone back to school today and I'm sure half the mums in DS2's class were looking at my holiday weight gain and thinking- mmm is she pregnant again?

Already do the sunscreen and going to bed early (by 9.30pm) - though getting to sleep is my problem. I can work up to 2 litres of water and can probably get a handle on my evening glass of wine.
I am pretty happy most of the time - especially now the kids have gone back to school! Struggle with exercise....that will be where I need motivation.

Off to get the flexitol - after a summer in Birks my heels are grim...

bagpuss · 04/09/2007 11:52

Morning all, Smugmum, I was going to ask about what type of sunscreen but I see you've already answered my question .

Was quite good yesterday, managed no snacking between meals and no booze (gave it up over a year ago), about a litre of water and probably about the same of tea . Exercise was severely lacking and dinner was pasta carbonara which wasn't very healthy, followed by a small amount of Green and Black's Maya Gold.

This morning I skipped breakfast though so I'm starving now, having spent the day so far sewing name tapes for the new school term. Need that Flexitol more than anything though - uptomyeyes, I'm sure your heels aren't nearly as grim as mine...

winnie · 04/09/2007 12:03

bagpuss, Maya Gold doesn't count

In answer to the question about coffee. Giving it up is not a part of this bootcamp... it's a step too far for many of us However, when I started this I had an eight cup a day VERY strong black coffee habit. I cut it out but not for long as coffee really is my drug of choice but now I am down to two or three cups which is much better and I've given up on all those crappy, taste less cappuccino imitations one finds in the high street too.

Maya Gold is ESSENTIAL for happiness

Dinosaur · 04/09/2007 12:33

Oh WWW what a lifesaver, I so need this. The rolls of blubber round my middle have expanded horribly over the summer. Have signed up for Pilates though, starting week after next.

Did walk from Bethnal Green mega fast walking style this morning though .

Can anyone recommend good facial sunblock that will not bring meout in spots? I used to wear No 7 tinted moisturiser with sunblock all the time but have kind of gone off it.,..

winnie · 04/09/2007 12:41

batters, lovely to see you back.

Sadly I am nowhere near target and probably have the same to lose again. I have gone fromm being very, very, very fat to fat myself. Now the aim is to go from fat to less fat

SilentTerror · 04/09/2007 12:49

No exercise as such yesterday, too busy sorting out school stuff.
Drank loads of water though and no alcohol, but did have Kitkat last night!
Will try and jog/do exercise bike tonight.

rosmerta · 04/09/2007 13:18

Hi everyone!

Not doing too badly today, have had hummus and pitta for lunch but have avoided my usual biscuits/sweets afterwards and had an orange instead. I always forget how much I love oranges until I have one!

Dh is making a special effort to get home early tonight so I can go swimming.

jaynehater · 04/09/2007 13:40

Afternoon all!

Well, this is kicking in already - instead of hauling my grim-faced carcass to school in it's usual uncared-for state, I cleansed, moisturised, sunscreened, lobbed on some mascara, did the body cream thing too, but only on legs and arms (it was baltic here this morning, the thought of body lotion stored in a bathroom with sub-zero temps being applied to my torso was NOT happening)

  • and as a result, for once, I looked human Not quite yummy mummy, but, blimey, it's the most effort I've put into my own welfare before 9am since I worked full time. Rather liberating, thank you oh motivational ones [girn]
jaynehater · 04/09/2007 13:42

Lotion made my hands slippy?

Of course I can type grin, I'm not thick or anything

Well, I may well be drummed out on my first day. Went to bed last night at 2.30 - have an OU assignment due in by the end of today so not much choice really.

Have eaten fruit toast and butter (tut) for breakfast, mushroom omelette and salad for lunch. Haven't drunk enough water, and have drunk too much coffee (see above for excuse...)

Am moisturised and sunscreened.

Will not get enough walking done today - school run only as am stuck in front of the computer.

Will try to do better

PatsyCline · 04/09/2007 14:12

Can I join too, please?

Started well today as I went to salsa.

Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept - I don't do this normally and I have just acquired my first age spot on face - let that be a lesson to me! I have also vowed to use SPF50 on hands.

No or little booze in the week.- on wagon until Christmas

Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can - already on pretty good workout regime.

Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day - I find this one sooooooo hard, but will do it.

Apply body cream as often as possible - promise to do so before bed without fail.

Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff - have transformed feet already thanks to another MN thread and will keep up the good work.

Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if poss- DH not good on this and I can't sleep until he comes to bed. I will beg him.

Eat healthily - bit of an issue as I am a classic comfort eater, but trying to reform...

Be happy - I have TWO counsellors at the moment and my brain is already whipping into a happier shape.

Thanks for this.

Back tomorrow.

Woweeeeeee, Bootcamp must really work. I went back to Toddler group today after 2 weeks away and was gossiped about mercilessly, in the nicest possible way! Was told my hair looked wonderful (damn well should it cost a fortune!), that I looked 10 years younger (it works, it works ) and the phrase 'Yummy Mummy' was even used
To say that I'm walking on air is a MASSIVE understatement

Must celebrate with fruit and water NOT chocolate!

uptomyeyes · 04/09/2007 19:50

Day 1 has been a mixed bag for me. I did walk for 30 minutes, I am sunscreened, I'm getting there on the water, I finished a piece of work which made me feel good, drank only 1 coffee, ate no junk food and then it all fell apart......it was just sitting there in the fridge....if I didn't eat it nobody else would....a Belgium chocolate torte....I cut a thin slice and then another....now I feel crap.

No wine though!

I'm going to mousturise my feet now in an attempt to feel better.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 04/09/2007 20:08

feetheart - celebrate with a cup of fruit tea. Congratulations. You must feel fabbo!

Sobernow - was it DD1s first day? I hope she was OK when you picked her up. DS started Reception today, he was OK but exhausted and teary when he came home (fortunately at 1pm until Easter, he was only 4 in June).

I've had an OK day. Not enough exercise though. Will try and run tomorrow but I still have DD2 at home and tis difficult to fit it in.

jaynehater · 04/09/2007 20:10

I still didn't drink any water today.

Must try harder.
