Are you wearing bootcut jeans/trousers again?

I'm seeing them everywhere at the moment. Does this mean I can dig out the ones at the back of my wardrobe again??😊

I wear only straight leg jeans. Classic and never date. The height of the rise is irrelevant unless you want to tuck in your top.

mistermagpie · 05/02/2020 10:25

God, boot cut jeans and high boots were my staple in the 90s - I wouldn't be caught dead in such frump-wear now. They just make me look awful.

Mind you I am tall with long legs so look pretty good in skinny and straight cuts and I find they are more versatile shoe-wise as well.

Bella2020 · 05/02/2020 10:25

I wear slim boot cut. They're the most flattering style on me. I believe we need to think more about what flatters our figures than what is supposedly in fashion. Skinny jeans were wrong on so many levels for a lot of women, weren't they.

@BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo you just saved me from a purchase! Thank you for that photo!! 🙏

You don't have to wear them at half mast! That looks ridiculous. Grin

MorrisZapp · 05/02/2020 12:04

YES BUT

remember that time Colleen Rooney wore flares that covered her feet, she looked like a bizarre footless person.

DreamingofSunshine · 05/02/2020 12:34

Any recs for slim bootcut jeans? I've been wearing jeggings since having a baby but photos suggest that it isn't a good look for me! I'm 5ft5, long legged and a size 10/12 and a bit of an apple shape.

peachgreen · 05/02/2020 12:47

Bootcut - never EVER again, I honestly don't think they look good on anyone.

Proper smart high-waisted wide-legged trousers are lovely with heels though and some women can pull off flared jeans.

missmouse101 · 05/02/2020 12:52

Yes, I never stopped. Wear them most weekends.

Bluntness100 · 05/02/2020 12:53

It's a no from me too. I wouldn't say never again, and I am now wearing some straight legged ones, but boot cut is still a bit done for me at the moment,

anunseemlylovefordustin · 05/02/2020 13:09

Never stopped! They're the style that suits me best - I wear skinnies with wellies for dog walks, but skinnies make my legs look like bowling pins. Was overjoyed to find some super high waist super stretchy bootlegs at simply be, I've bought four pairs in case they stop making them :D

peachgreen · 05/02/2020 13:38

Bootleg fans - I'd love to see the way you're styling them as I'm starting to think I must be wrong!

inwood · 05/02/2020 13:39

They make my arse look awesome but I can't be doing with wet trouser legs so it's a no from me.

mistermagpie · 05/02/2020 13:43

It does depend on your figure but I never see people in bootlegs in the real world - it's all skinny's and 'mom' or boyfriend jeans here.

JillAmanda · 05/02/2020 13:46

Apologies for ‘the boot’ and ‘the jean’. In my head I’m being funny not an actual wank

😁

I get you, @pictish

Hell will freeze over before I say “a jean” or similar in seriousness (see also referring to an item of clothing as a “piece”) but I do enjoy saying things like “today I am wearing a naked eye” or “I do believe my arse needs a rather larger tight” and sniggering to myself.

QueSera · 05/02/2020 13:46

All my bootcut/flared trousers are in a box under my bed - I had been waiting for styles to change back, but to be honest I am so happy with low-cut skinny trousers that I don't think I'll ever go back to bootcut/flares or high-waisted - would all feel so odd!

Kalifa · 05/02/2020 13:48

Bootcut trousers make big bums and hips look smaller.

JillAmanda · 05/02/2020 13:49

Oh and I shall certainly be treating myself to a bootcut jean as soon as I’m thinner. I think they can be very flattering. They can balance a large thigh as opposed to skinnies which make my legs look like parsnips.

RancidOldHag · 05/02/2020 15:54

Legs are meant to taper.

Bootcut adds volume in exactly the wrong place, and makes those large of thigh look massive all the way down.

They only look passingly good on the tall, long-limbed and willowy.

MellowBird85 · 05/02/2020 16:04

I never stopped either. CANNOT get on with skinnies.

ExpletiveDelighted · 05/02/2020 16:13

That's what happens to me Rancid, they make my legs look huge all the way down.

ClementineWardobe · 05/02/2020 16:19

@DreamingofSunshine levi 315. The best slim bootcut

OverthinkingThis · 05/02/2020 16:24

Nope, I see bootcuts in the shops but I don't know who is buying them as everyone around me is still in skinnies!

peachgreen · 05/02/2020 16:35

Totally agree @RancidOldHag, they give everyone elephant legs I think.

DreamingofSunshine · 05/02/2020 18:44

@ClementineWardobe thank you! I'll have a look.
