I always love threads where people recommend things. I love exploring new stuff: ideas.
On the back of a thread a short time back I invested in some hourglass ambient lighting powder and blush and they’re game changers for me as I basically can’t go wrong and they make a huge difference to my face.
Face exercises too- suddenly my hollow under eye area is plumping up and I look loads better even though I shouldn’t ( thick with cold and menopausal lack of sleep)

@BigButtons

I’ve been doing face fitnez from you tube. Really nice woman , despite slightly naff name. She does mouth exercises that have really pumped my lips well. I’ve given the Face aerobics a whirl on your recommendation and aim to follow the whole program. I will continue a couple of lip exercises as Peta of face aerobics doesn’t seem to do any of those, not in series one anyway.

@WineOrGin The Ordinary are responsible for me no longer wearing foundation after 15 years of daily wear. And usually this time of year it’s when I need it most.
I went to a site called Byrdie( don’t know how to link, sorry) . They have The Ordinary regimes for specific skin conditions, so acne and blemishes, ageing, pigmentation etc. I spent about £50 for the most impressive results.

I've recently started using Lidl's Cien Q10 serum. Its brilliant! My skin glows like never before, and its only £2.99. Absolute bargain.

BigButtons · 02/02/2020 10:22

@Lojoh can you link to the vitamin bar soaps? I use hadalabo products to clean my face. I love them.
@Ohyesiam you are right her lip exercises aren’t great. I will deffo check out your lady-my lips are thin and getting thinner! I like to pick out exercises from different programs that work best for me. Face aerobics is amazing god my cheeks eyes and neck.

I second the Lidl serum and classic moisturiser- fab for dry skin and not irritating at all.

Lojoh · 02/02/2020 10:47

For vitamin soap I ordered SOME BY MI brand from Yesstyle cause they have alllll the sunscreen and much cheaper than amazon, but if there's a better source I would love to know.

It's not gonna do the same as leave-on vit-c serums on your face - I use it on my body. (I don't use any cleansers on my face at all, just a sonic face brush and lukewarm water.)

I love this thread.

Can you dermaplane at home?

Ohyesiam · 02/02/2020 13:07

Can subside explain derma plaining a bit please? I know a like bit but it would be great to hear from someone who does it.

Thanks

Ohyesiam · 02/02/2020 17:21

I’ll try againConfused
Can anyone explain remaining please?

Laquila · 02/02/2020 18:34

😆 Ohyes I guess we all just thought it'd be a better option than Brexit

ClientQueen · 02/02/2020 18:42

I dermaplane with a scalpel
Basically it gets rid of any dead skin cells and peach fuzz. I do it on dry skin with a sharp scalpel

Ohyesiam · 02/02/2020 21:18

@Laquila you world be right!

@ClientQueen thanks.

BigButtons · 02/02/2020 22:07

I’m wondering about the Becca backlighting filter. I’ve heard nothing but good things.

@JillAmanda yep, it’s really easy! i buy the blades from amazon for about three quid. there’s loads of youtube videos that show you how to do it. i used to get my whole face threaded (ouch!) but dermaplaning is so much easier and faster. i do it every 2 weeks and it takes me about five minutes. honestly my skin looks amazing! i had some scarring on my cheek from when i was younger and picked my spots and it’s even improved that.

Expo · 02/02/2020 22:57

Oooo love this thread!

Things I really notice:

  • tretinoin (super strong retinol)
  • The Ordinary niacinamide
  • Philips Lumea - wow
  • stila liquid eyeshadow glitter
  • Sunday Riley lactic acid (only avail as glycolic in UK)
bakedbeanzontoast · 02/02/2020 23:47

Laura Mercier caviar stick
Claudelie detox oil for oily skin

Liveandforget · 03/02/2020 00:11

@sunshineandshowers21 oooh could you post a link to the dermaplaning blades? Thanks in advance

sunshineandshowers21 · 03/02/2020 12:28

@Liveandforget not sure how to link from the app but these are the ones i use. if you type in dermaplaning blades on amazon they’re one of the first results.

Shookethtothecore · 03/02/2020 12:37

I dermalplane my own skin using those aswell it’s mega easy

Shookethtothecore · 03/02/2020 12:38

Derma plane*

BigButtons · 03/02/2020 14:02

Do you get stubble if your dermaplane?

OP posts:
sunshineandshowers21 · 03/02/2020 16:54

@BigButtons no, no stubble. something about the blades not removing the hair from the root so the hair just comes back as it was before.

PontiacBandit · 03/02/2020 16:57

Not a product but a treatment. I had dermaplaning for the first time last Friday and my skin on my face has never felt so good. It has felt baby soft ever since.

PontiacBandit · 03/02/2020 16:59

Oops didn't see page 2 where I've cross posted

JillAmanda · 03/02/2020 17:02

Well I’ve just dry shaved my face with a disposable razor.... it’s beautifully soft but it did feel a bit itchy and irritated for a bit afterwards.

I’m guessing dermaplaning is better?
