I always love threads where people recommend things. I love exploring new stuff: ideas.
On the back of a thread a short time back I invested in some hourglass ambient lighting powder and blush and they’re game changers for me as I basically can’t go wrong and they make a huge difference to my face.
Face exercises too- suddenly my hollow under eye area is plumping up and I look loads better even though I shouldn’t ( thick with cold and menopausal lack of sleep)

Neutrogena hydro boost skin moisturiser gel...love it..non greasy and works and about £8. A large jar.

latheritup · 31/01/2020 01:14

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream - phenomenal stuff!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 31/01/2020 02:33

I treated myself to La Roche Posay Toleraine ultra Night recently and already it's made a difference to my dry sensitive skin It looks brighter and smoother Worth every penny

Kwkwjwkek · 31/01/2020 02:48

Neutrogena hydroboost gel cream but for dry skin as it’s frangrance free. Don’t have dry skin but they don’t do a frangrance free for the normal version. But I really like the texture and it feels very cooling on the skin.

Aesop carmelia nut cream has saved my dry skin this winter, it's never looked better. It's rich and soothing but absorbs quickly so is good as a day cream as well as night. I use it alongside Emma Hardee's facial oil which I also love.
The it cosmetics CC cream is amazing - another vote for that from me (it's made me look far more human on the many mornings I've been up half the night with a new baby!)

norbert23 · 31/01/2020 03:21

Oops - Emma Hardie sorry. Blame my tired eyes!

sunshineandshowers21 · 31/01/2020 03:28

i’ve started dermaplaning my face and my skin has never looked better. i look so glowy and my skin is sooo smooth. my make up looks so much better now too. i wish i’d known about it years ago! only cost me £3 for the blades from amazon.

The ordinary retinol in squalene is very good. I didn't really have any wrinkles to begin with but I felt that using it would be useful and it is. The superdrug glycolic acid toner and overnight peel are really good too.

Ohyesiam · 31/01/2020 07:50

@BigButtons thanks for your comments on face exercises.

I’ve has really rapid and impressive results too, despite being 53. I’ve had people ask if I’ve had work doneGrin.

TheCoolerQueen · 31/01/2020 08:06

Maybelline Rose Poudre nail polish, it's a really flattering neutral pink

MrMeSeeks · 31/01/2020 08:41

The ordinary glycolic toner.
My friend swears by theinkey, she has multiple products by them and said the retinol and vitc in particular has worked wonders for skin!

totallynotchanging · 31/01/2020 16:13

Avon's Reversalist night cream, the one with the pump that you turn upside down every week. One side has retinol (iirc) Been using it consistently for 3 weeks. Brilliant- I've had two compliments on my skin this week. I have never ever had a compliment on my skin before!

BigButtons · 31/01/2020 16:59

@Ohyesiam which face exercise progs have you already been using? I'm always interested to shake things up a bit Smile

I second dermaplaning- x3 facial razors from Tesco for couple of £ and makeup looks so even and face clean looking!

noodlezoodle · 01/02/2020 23:12

Superdrug simply pure hydrating serum - only three quid and miles better than other hyaluronic serums I've tried - this is the only one that doesn't seem to be sticky.

IT cosmetics bye bye redness - I have rosacea and this is incredibly good for covering red but doesn't make you look ill or incredibly pale like some of the green toned redness products.

Kosas tinted face oil - reasonable coverage and very comfortable to wear, although it does cling to any dry patches if you have them.

BigButtons · 02/02/2020 06:58

Is derma planing basically like face shaving for women?

I really like bybi - I’m using the cleansing oil and a serum. Very soft skin!
You also send them the bottles when they are empty and they refill so guilt free eco wise!

Top 3 The Ordinary products, Wine and Gin : Niacinamide, Granactive Retinoid, The Buffet.

I have newly discovered Korean vitamin bar soaps - got a great vit-c and niacinamide one I bought on a whim when ordering sunscreen (far superior to UK brands). Amazing!

Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation. I have spent a decade and £££ looking for the right foundation. This one is light and creamy, goes on easily, stays put and has a natural skin tone with a bt of translucence. It's quite matte, but you can mix it with moisturiser or even pat a bit on top for a brighter finish. It's got a pump action, so less messy than some and a little goes a long way.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 02/02/2020 08:58

Glossier Lidstar cream eye shadow. Don't think I'll be going back to powdered eye shadow in a hurry Smile
