I always love threads where people recommend things. I love exploring new stuff: ideas.
On the back of a thread a short time back I invested in some hourglass ambient lighting powder and blush and they’re game changers for me as I basically can’t go wrong and they make a huge difference to my face.
Face exercises too- suddenly my hollow under eye area is plumping up and I look loads better even though I shouldn’t ( thick with cold and menopausal lack of sleep)

Beauty Pie One Powder Wonder or something like that? Also their ceramide capsules.

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 28/01/2020 23:01

Not that recent but facial oil has made a massive difference to me - have got rid of all the dry patches on my face since I started it. My favourite is Aurelia... expensive but lasts ages.

Have really pared my skincare back since developing rosacea. I miss trying new things, so will live vicariously through this thread Grin

My best recent buy is Revlon's Candid concealer - OMG, it is my holy grail! Great coverage and doesn't sink into fine lines. I'm loving it and gutted I've spent so much cash on more expensive concealers over the years, only to find the Revlon one which is a fiver.

Avon's Vitamin C serum is another wonder product - I'm on my third bottle. It really is fantastic. I hated the gritty feel of the Ordinary Vit C.

Not a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury (over-rated I feel) but I do love the Collagen Lip Bath lip gloss. I need to find a cheaper alternative!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/01/2020 00:18

I bought the candid concealer today,o can confirm it's incredible. I love the Revlon eye primer (brightener) too. I am seriously tempted by the foundation too.

BitOfFun · 29/01/2020 00:28

Phoera foundation/concealer. I bought it online after one of those Facebook adverts, thinking it would be too good to be true. However, it's absolutely amazing- far better than anything more expensive I've used. It's around £7, I think.

I'm really ill (and look it) at the moment, but when I've got this on, I look as healthy as Gwyneth Paltrow Grin.

Another vote for The Ordinary. Hylaronic 2% and the retinoids are great. Vitamin C thingy they do is harsh and does tingle but the trick is to use sparingly, at night, mix it with something blander like their plant squalene and it really is like a mini face lift cone the morning. Each pot around a fiver so good value.

Elllllle · 29/01/2020 07:24

After trying a million and one Vit C serums, Ive discovered the LRP Vitamin C10 serum after a rec on here. It is absolutely magic and is such a smooth base for makeup, ive found myself using this and the melt in spf cream instead of a primer. It also contains salicylic acid which may be why I havent had issues with breakouts.

puppymouse · 29/01/2020 07:26

My Dsis lives in Asia and gave me a couple of Korean Innisfree products for Christmas.

I use the face wash daily and it's brilliant. I think it lifts and plumps my skin plus I haven't had a single spot since using it I don't think.

BigButtons · 29/01/2020 07:28

I need to get some more squalene oil.
I do use tretinoin at night. I do derma rolling with an electric dermastamp.
I am lazy with my vit c. I just sprinkle some in my hada labo lotion in the morning let it dissolve and put it on my face.
I am on the look out for a good water proof mascara though. I have very oily lids and everything smudges.
I used the NO7 tubing mascara for ages, but feel that they've changed the product somehow. Anyone got any recs for mascara that really won't go anywhere?

I'm really liking Glossier ... the serums and the Cloud Paint blusher are lovely ... but the lid star eyeshadow and Milky jelly cleanser are a bit crap so I'd give those 2 a miss !

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/01/2020 07:43

Maybelline Collosal mascara, yellow tube with purple writing on it. Comes off with water but doesn't shift at all.

cloudchaos · 29/01/2020 08:22

skinceuticals glycolic 10. In fact I'm loving everything Skinceuticals at the moment.

Ohyesiam · 29/01/2020 08:57

I have sun damage and a lot of redness.
I was on a site cashed Byrdie and they had various The Ordinary regimes for different skin problems, so I got a morning and a night regime for pigmentation, ( about £60 the lot) and there results are amazing!
I’ve started using a sheer foundation that I had given up on several years ago as it wasn’t giving me enough coverage.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 29/01/2020 09:38

I've been using some Nourish London products recently, and absolutely love the argan skin rescue. I'm going to look at the facial exercises mentioned, thanks for the tip!

mrslebon · 29/01/2020 09:39

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor - I'm seriously tempted by the Revlon Candid foundation too! I tried a tiny bit on my chin while I was in Sains and it was a tad chalky, but I'd need to try applying it with a brush I think.

@Alicatz66 - agree that Glossier Cloud Paint is fab! And you only need the tiniest little bit. The stretch concealer is also good but only as a 'halfway through the day top up' kind of concealer. It doesn't have enough coverage for me to use it on its own.

I used to use a lot of The Ordinary range but kind of fell out of love. Garden of Wisdom and The Inkey are good alternatives.

MsChatterbox · 29/01/2020 09:39

Cleansing face with baby oil and a cotton pad!

BigButtons · 29/01/2020 10:31

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor I will definitely get the Maybelline mascara thanks.

This one, there's a few that look similar so a bit confusing but this is the one

Lamentations · 29/01/2020 10:54

I live a proper thick lip balm and after years of only rating Nuxe I've discovered Glossier balm.com. The rose balm is so good.

I love Hourglass Dim Light, but tried the ELF Illuminating Palette as I like trying known dupes and its identical, but a fraction of the price. Wouldn't go back to Hourglass now.

Also ELF Bronzing Palette in Golden (I swirl a brush over all the colours to mix them), doesn't look muddy but gives a fantastic sort of lit from within glowy tan, I've repurchased many times now.

Blue tinted eye drops, really make your eyes sparkle and makes a huge difference to my face. I only use occasionally though.

Physicians Formula CC cream, a dupe of IT Cosmetics CC cream, looks and feels identical on but doesn't have silicone (which the IT one does) and silicones cause breakouts on me. Plus its much cheaper.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter, its the only expensive product I'll continue to repurchase and its my Holy Grail. No matter how tired, flu ridden or run down I look it erases all that and gives me film star skin every time. The transformation is genuinely shocking, and it doesn't dry my skin out. It also looks amazing without makeup over the top.

Nyx blushes in Electro and Red. I used to go for subtler coloured blusher, but tried these on a whim and a very sparing amount of vivid blusher looks so much better on me, more natural too.

Lastly, putting Vaseline all over my face before bed as the last step in my skincare routine. I will never go back to not doing this as it makes such a huge difference to my skin. Doesn't clog pores and sort of locks in your skincare and helps it work more effectively. I wake up with glowy plump skin every morning, no small feat as I have insomnia.

EatenByDinosaurs · 29/01/2020 11:15

Hmmm sorry, got a bit carried away! Blush

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/01/2020 11:25

I rate Vaseline too for combating winter skin.

Just thought if another - Catrice lipglosses. Apparently they're a dupe of the Clarins ones. They're amazing anyway.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 29/01/2020 11:39

All the Jordan Samuel Skin products. I’ve got both cleansers, Hydrate the mist and Hydrate the serum and the Performance cream. My skin is glowing.

I’m very oily with a tendency towards little bumpy spots but my skin was really dehydrated and JSS is the only thing that’s made it lovely and plump without increasing oil production.

I’ve just got a Dermatica prescription ( 1% adapalene 4% niacinemide) but I’m less than a week in so can’t comment on effectiveness as yet.

Ohyesiam · 29/01/2020 13:12

Hi @BigButtons
I’m interested in the face workout you were talking about. I had a look on YouTube and it seems very complicated!
Did you buy the whole system? If not how does it work? Do you watch each individual exercise to learn it, then do series one with increasing reps, then on to series 2 etc?
Each series does not seem a complete set, I did series one for eg and there were no neck exercises in it. So if there are not consecutive, how are they ordered?

She advises in one of the learning videos about looking at her earlier videos on that exercise. I’m not sure how to date them, and does it even matter?
I’m
Used to face exercises, but want to build on what I do. Am I over thinking it somehow?
Thanks

Shookethtothecore · 29/01/2020 13:55

What skin types and ages do you have for these products? I’m 35 and noticing my normal Clarins stuff isn’t working so well anymore. Especially my eye bags! Very dehydrated skin and I just look dull and tired a lot
