I always love threads where people recommend things. I love exploring new stuff: ideas.
On the back of a thread a short time back I invested in some hourglass ambient lighting powder and blush and they’re game changers for me as I basically can’t go wrong and they make a huge difference to my face.
Face exercises too- suddenly my hollow under eye area is plumping up and I look loads better even though I shouldn’t ( thick with cold and menopausal lack of sleep)

@Ohyesiam they are all free!
The first three series she has an exercise Along with me routine. You do 2 weeks of 50 reps per exercise, 2 weeks at 100 then if brave 2 weeks of 150.
She says you can also do 3 weeks of 50 and 3 of 100.
Basically you stick with each series for 6 weeks then move onto the next.
She does detailed demos for each exercise in each series. I advise watching them when you start out.
Each series has 6 exercises I think: forehead, eyes, cheeks, jaw, neck and an extra put in.
It’s easy. Start with series one 🙂

@Ohyesiam no it doesn’t matter. I too am used to face exercises. Sometimes I do them in order, sometimes I mix and match. I have some favourites from other progs that I throw in too.
What I like about her in particular is the way she explains how it is all working and why and I often need to recheck that I’m doing them properly.( I’m not always!)

@Shookethtothecore I'm 48 and apart from fine lines, my skin is better than it was in my 30s. My skin type is normal/oily T zone. I used to use Clarins all the time but without any real reason other than the products smell nice and make you feel good. I also used to use face wipes to remove my make up - not good! I haven't looked back since discovering double cleansing and using 'actives' in my routine such as vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and glycolic acid. For dehydrated skin, you might want to try a product containing hyaluronic acid (e.g. I use Eucerin's Hyaluron Filler day cream) or try a serum containing hyaluronic acid (The Inkey, Garden of Wisdom). I also rate Superdrug's own brand if you want to try something out at a good price point. For under eyes, this is the holy grail question really! I've tried loads of products and my favourites have been the Bobbi Brown hydrating eye cream and my current fave is Polaar Icy Magic.

Just popped on to say 'The Ordinary'

Was recommended to me on her and has changed my life!
Went from ridiculously ineffective and hugely expensive products to these, which just work perfectly, with only active ingredients and no stupid perfumes and packaging.

Ohyesiam · 29/01/2020 16:23

That all makes sense, @BigButtons thanks. It’s quite a time commitment!

BigButtons · 29/01/2020 16:40

@Ohyesiam I don’t think of it like that.
What matters with facial exercises, as you most likely know, is that you do them regularly and are patient results-wise.

With this regime I noticed much fuller cheek bones very quickly and my neck has no dangly bits anywhere! My under eyes have suddenly filled in- but that took some time.

I never spend more than a total of ten mins a day . Often times I’ll fit in odd exercises when I can during the day.
It’s also important to give you’d muscles z couple of rest days a week.
I only dig down to you tube if I have forgotten the routine.

Ooh .. Skin Food also !!! I slap it on as an overnight treatment for my dry skin

Littlefiendsusan · 29/01/2020 23:48

Superdrug's Hyaluronic Face spray is brilliant for keeping the crepey look at bay and makes you look all dewy.

BigButtons · 30/01/2020 06:48

I am really enjoying looking up all your suggestions. It’s keeping me entertained and stopping me doing what I am supposed to be doing!

Pure moisturiser from M&S. it was in the advent calendar and I've repurchased. It's made my oily skin really soft but not shiny.

Urban Decay eye pencil - recommended on a thread on here. It just doesn't budge and an amazing choice of colours.

Traditionalwife · 30/01/2020 11:36

These will make you glow:
Thayers witch hazel
Cetaphil
Soap and glory vitamin c face wash
African black soap
Makeup:
Elizabeth Arden moisture lipstick as I find matte can make peoples lips look dry and crusty.
Clinique even better refresh foundation, medium coverage and a dewy finish because I hate matte things they make you look dry and older than what you are.
A brown kohl become black liquid eyeliner is harsh brown is more flattering and slightly smudged is also less harsh
I want to get:
a cream natural looking pink blush as I said I hate powders..
And I also want a non sticky clear gloss to put over my lipstick.

*because

BlueEyedFloozy · 30/01/2020 11:41

I don't really wear make up but my stupidly sensitive, eczema prone skin is clearing up and looking much better since i started using an Enjo mitt to wash and putting on a bit of Helio-care each morning which I got in Spain. It's a UV 50 tinted moisturing gel and it's amazing!

At night I exfoliate/wash with a teaspoon of porridge oats.

sergeantmajor · 30/01/2020 14:30

Love these threads but they always prove expensive...

BigButtons · 30/01/2020 15:02

@sargeantmajor that’s very true!

I got prescribed Eucerin Urea cream from the doctor (but it can be bought cheaply without prescription) and it is the best thing for dry skin! I slather a layer on at night time and wake up with baby soft skin.

Notsure94 · 30/01/2020 18:20

The Ordinary range is pretty cheap. Serums are around a fiver if memory serves. Ok not Poundland cheap but definitely good value for money.

MamaFlintstone · 30/01/2020 18:24

Lancôme teint idole nude foundation is my favourite make up buy of the past 6 month.

It’s light coverage and feels glowy but also lasts really well, and that’s not a combination I’ve managed to successfully find before.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 30/01/2020 18:37

Glossier stretch concealer, on my wish list for ages and finally bought it, adore it!

Nudestix blushers.

It Cosmetics CC cream

ELF The New Classics eyeshadow palette

Essence mascara

All new products in the last month or two which I really really love.

Alicatz66 · 30/01/2020 18:43

@traditionalwife. Try Glossier Cloud Paint blusher. It's brilliant and a little bit goes a long way

TheLadyAnneNeville · 30/01/2020 19:04

Dr Organic Collagen Cream with Black Pearl. Makes my skin plumped.

BigButtons · 30/01/2020 19:26

That reminds me I have a glossier cloud paint blusher- must dig if out. I really liked it. Although I am currently in love with my new hourglass one.

I've been using CEO glow by Sunday Riley and I love it, makes skin so soft and gooey. Stinks though!!

Pajamagirl · 30/01/2020 19:45

It’s not new but new to me
Mac strobe cream in pink light
Gives a lit from within glow , it’s £25 but I love it and will repurchase
