That's it, I'm divorcing EL Doublewear!

I bloody give up HmmAngry

I LOVE this stuff but cannot for the life of me get properly shade matched.

I am a bit lighter than Mac NW20,so fair skinned with rosy undertones.

If I use Fresco in DW it's good but slight too dark so I just need to go slightly lighter.

I have tried Pale Almond, Dawn ( because I read you should NEVER use a cool toned foundation as it will look hideous Confused) and yesterday got matched with Cool Beige but it STILL doesn't look right.

I tried a Clinique foundation in Alabaster which was the most perfect colour ever ,think it was Even Better Foundation but it doesn't last more than a couple of hours. What's the best Clinique foundation, anyone know?

Dear God,it can't be this hard to find a foundation, surely?

If I mix Bourjois Healthy Mix with Fresco I get a better colour.

Sigh....

What other foundations are as good coverage as Double Wear please?

Smile

Best foundation I've tried and I've tried ALOT is definitely Chanel also the staff are really good they never push anything.
I do sometimes go back to EL especially if they've got a nice gift offer but the Chanel is better and lasts for ages

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 16:52

Which Chanel please?

I've worn a lot, used to be a slave to double wear! I've also used lots of Chanel but I don't love their colour shades.
I'm using Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion at the moment, really lovely consistency (similar to double wear but not as drying)

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 16:56

I must have weird skin as I don't find DW drying at all, it's sooooo good just crap shades Sad

I'm taking note and will get samples, thanks for your input.

Try this findation.com/ for finding your shade in another brand, so if the Clinique one works you can see all the others that are the same or very similar shades across other makes then pick a nice durable one to try. I used it the other day because I was having a hard time finding something the same colour as a Benefit one, but without the flakeyness it was giving me all of a sudden

socksandshoes1 · 23/01/2020 16:59

Findation is great - here's the results for Alabaster: findation.com/searches/20812765

socksandshoes1 · 23/01/2020 17:00

Have you tried Double Wear in shade Intensity 1.0, as it's saying that is your match?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 17:03

No I haven't tried intensity 1.0.

I've tried the findation site before but it didn't match me well ,thanks though.

Right,I'll look at intensity 1.0....

So I should be looking at Cool Bone then?

OP posts:
BeeyatchPlease · 23/01/2020 17:05

I too was matched as pure beige 2c1 but it just wasn't right. Although I have a cool undertone, for some reason the neutral 2n1 desert beige was perfect on me. Love my DW, nothing I got else compares to it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 17:06

My neck is really pale and my skin under the redness is really pale too. Cool Bone might be ok...

I am on 2c2 which is think is the almond one. I am Irish very very pale with pink undertones

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 17:09

Desert beige looks hopeful from Google!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 17:10

Pale Almond was too yellow iirc.

Have you tried mixing two shades together? I do this in winter as my usual foundation shade feels too dark for winter skin.

brassbrass · 23/01/2020 17:13

Snap came on here to suggest mixing 2 DW shades

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 17:42

I'll give it a go although I've just looked at myself wearing pure beige and I think I have a yellow hueConfused

Maybe if fresco just needs to be lighter I should try those lightening drops you can buy?

mrslaughan · 23/01/2020 18:13

I'm NW20 in MAC - and Chanel has the best match to my skin tone. Any of the foundations (I have a couple of different ones - but all beige rose

bakedbeanzontoast · 23/01/2020 18:14

Try Laura mercies flawless finish

bakedbeanzontoast · 23/01/2020 18:18

And I totally hear you on the DW shades, although for me that foundation is just too mask like although I probably wasn't using the right stuff underneath.

Lucked · 23/01/2020 18:31

The fenty range has numerous shades and I think the coverage is good although the person who matched me originally in Boots was out by two shades! Got it sorted now.

Lucked · 23/01/2020 18:32

Just to say I was pure beige in DW but I am using a neutral in Fenty.

MrsAmaro · 23/01/2020 18:35

I originally got matched to Fresco but it was definitely making me look orange. I switched to Ecru and was much better.
