That's it, I'm divorcing EL Doublewear!

I bloody give up HmmAngry

I LOVE this stuff but cannot for the life of me get properly shade matched.

I am a bit lighter than Mac NW20,so fair skinned with rosy undertones.

If I use Fresco in DW it's good but slight too dark so I just need to go slightly lighter.

I have tried Pale Almond, Dawn ( because I read you should NEVER use a cool toned foundation as it will look hideous Confused) and yesterday got matched with Cool Beige but it STILL doesn't look right.

I tried a Clinique foundation in Alabaster which was the most perfect colour ever ,think it was Even Better Foundation but it doesn't last more than a couple of hours. What's the best Clinique foundation, anyone know?

Dear God,it can't be this hard to find a foundation, surely?

If I mix Bourjois Healthy Mix with Fresco I get a better colour.

Sigh....

What other foundations are as good coverage as Double Wear please?

Smile

Desert beige may work for you.

PreseaCombatir · 23/01/2020 18:45

The Vichy foundation is really good

kiddingmyfatself · 23/01/2020 18:45

Vitalumiere chanel is the one I use. I always go back to it and gets lots of compliments re my old lady skin because it, not me, is lovely.
I use there face powder to top up but it's not that great to be honest the Mac one is super.

ThreeBlindNice · 23/01/2020 18:50

I used to use Ester Lauder double wear, recently tried NARS and it is so much better

BadEyeBri · 23/01/2020 18:55

Another vote for Chanel vitalumiere (or however it's spelled) it's the only thing that looks good on my deathly white, ahem, I mean alabaster Irish skin Grin

cheesypeas123 · 23/01/2020 19:02

I used fresco for years but looking back it was too pink toned. I now use desert beige which is more neutral & matches when I fake tan or ecru is same undertone but paler.

Gillybobs · 23/01/2020 19:56

You need to try clinque beyond perfecting, fantastic coverage and staying power

ILoveWelshCakes123 · 23/01/2020 20:06

Get a sample of Clinique beyond perfect, I use ivory and love it.

It's full coverage does last but can transfer. Worth a try though.

Thanks for all your help, I'm making notes. Flowers

I'm pale and pink too, and the don't use cool foundation is completely wrong for me - anything warm toned just looks off. Nars have some really good pale options (I wear Mont Blanc which is pale with a pinkish undertone, there's also siberia and another super pale). Hourglass also have some good options, and urban decay all nighter in shade 0.5 is both pale and very long lasting

elc19 · 23/01/2020 20:15

I have been using cool bone in ES DW since I was 18 and I'm now 26, can never imagine using another foundation and the bottle lasts me a few months.

Have you tried mixing in a cheaper foundation that's lighter to lighten it up a bit or even a foundation mix (they usually come in white and you need a tiny dot of it) x

Zoflorabore · 23/01/2020 20:17

Hi I read a thread on here recently ( can’t remember the name of it ) about finding a foundation in a dewy look and the amount of people who recommended Clinique even better glow had me curious.

I went to Debenhams on Tuesday and got colour matched and it’s absolutely gorgeous but the only downside is the bottle is pretty small but I don’t wear foundation everyday anyway.

I had spent a small fortune on foundations over the years, my biggest mistake was a Dior one at £42 which looked like it had been trowelled on.

The consultant at Clinique was really good and asked me lots of questions and tried a few things out on me and we both agreed on the chosen one. She created a file for me and said my chosen foundation is now on record if I go to any Clinique counter in the UK. I hope you get sorted.

TheYearOfTheDog · 23/01/2020 20:19

It's usual for me to have to mix shades. The palest shade is too pale. The second palest shade is a bit too dark. Always had this problem. Now I have two on the go, not even the same brand necessarily and I mix in my palm.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 20:20

I am put off by Dior after a very mistake too!

In Healthy Mix I am Light Vanilla which is a better colour, more neutral I think so maybe the desert beige would be better? I'll try more samples...

@BadEyeBri I'll try that! going to ramble round BT tomorrow after work.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 23/01/2020 20:24

Just to warn you OP to stock up on Healthy Mix if it works for you

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 20:30

I have 6 bottles of Healthy MixGrin

Zoflorabore it's 30mls so the same as other foundations, just looks less, doesn't it?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 21:17

Just did the Findation again just to make sure and it matched me to Fresco.

leccybill · 23/01/2020 21:23

Ah, that's a shame about Bourjois, love Healthy Mix!

cookiemonster5 · 23/01/2020 21:24

I always use this www.temptalia.com/foundation-matrix/results/mac-cosmetics-pro-longwear-liquid-foundation/nw20/?formula=127469

I put in your mac foundation and it does recommend 2C1 but also 2C2 and 2C0.

MrMeSeeks · 23/01/2020 21:29

What about powder foundation? I gave up with clinque and EL.
If its not lasting long what about changing your setting spray?
Ive gone through. So many foundations and all it took was a new spray Confused
My friend had the same problem, she let me onto a great one.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/01/2020 22:12

I've used Bare Minerals and Lily Lolo in the past but they aren't heavy duty enough. People always talk about DW looking mask like etc but it just looks really natural ( well the finish does, were working on the shade 😉)

OP posts:
stickleback123 · 23/01/2020 22:43

Bare minerals aspen and DW dessert beige are fairly similar if that's any help those are the two shades I use

Aprilcherry04 · 23/01/2020 22:48

I'm pebble in ELDW. It's still my favourite. I use loreal in sand for every day

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/02/2020 23:27

Update

I have up with DW ,I have been using the Catrice HD which is a fab shade and better formula- apparently it's a Fenty dupe, almost identical ingredients. It's quite nice mixed with the DW too.
