That's it, I'm divorcing EL Doublewear!

I bloody give up HmmAngry

I LOVE this stuff but cannot for the life of me get properly shade matched.

I am a bit lighter than Mac NW20,so fair skinned with rosy undertones.

If I use Fresco in DW it's good but slight too dark so I just need to go slightly lighter.

I have tried Pale Almond, Dawn ( because I read you should NEVER use a cool toned foundation as it will look hideous Confused) and yesterday got matched with Cool Beige but it STILL doesn't look right.

I tried a Clinique foundation in Alabaster which was the most perfect colour ever ,think it was Even Better Foundation but it doesn't last more than a couple of hours. What's the best Clinique foundation, anyone know?

Dear God,it can't be this hard to find a foundation, surely?

If I mix Bourjois Healthy Mix with Fresco I get a better colour.

Sigh....

What other foundations are as good coverage as Double Wear please?

Smile

@Elllllle sorry for delay in replying. I have used both the custom cover drops and the foundation. For variable cover the drops are great because you can either use them on their own for full cover or add them to your moisturiser in varying quantities for pretty much any range of cover you like, right through to just a sheer tint.

Mysocalledlifex · 04/02/2020 18:42

Im nc15 mac ive started using cyo long lasting foundation in shade 101 its cheap but is just as good as mac.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/02/2020 18:43

I've tried the CYO, it's nice but doesn't last as long as DW on me- honestly, I need cement 😉

You sound a bit similar to me and I’m Ecru in double wear and Mont Blanc in Nars Sheer glow. Cool Ivory in Bobbi Brown is also pretty good too. Maybe look at those?

oohnicevase · 04/02/2020 21:09

Try primark double coverage matte foundation .. colour match and quality is amazing?

oohnicevase · 04/02/2020 21:10

Thats is meant to be !!!! Not ?

noodlezoodle · 04/02/2020 22:29

OP I've got the Body Shop lightening and bronzing drops and they are really good - usually only need one or two drops to get the result you need. I am rarely an exact match in foundation colours so they've saved me a fortune over the last couple of years.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/02/2020 12:42

I was in town so bought the Conceal and Define foundation in F3 it's the most PERFECT colour but it's a bit dry,I might have to mix is with some moisturiser. I also got some lightner but could only get a Collection one as couldn't find any other brand who stocked them in our tiny town.

Conceal and Define doesn't work at ALL HmmSad but if nothing else I'll take it to the EL counter and see what shade is similar.

Why don't you just mix colours to get a shade that matches. I sometimes mix 3 different foundations to get the right shade, depending on my tan at the time. I'm very very pale NW 12 in mac.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/02/2020 22:33

Because I haven't found anything that mixes with the DW that looks how I'd like it. I'm going to try the whitening drops tomorrow with DW.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/02/2020 22:34

Plus when you start mixing DW it looses some of its oomph ime.

BusterGonad · 05/02/2020 23:04

I'm cool vanilla in DW but desert beige in the DW cushion thingy (like a stick foundation with a sponge on the end).

BusterGonad · 05/02/2020 23:07

Just to add in No7 I'm cool ivory.

BusterGonad · 05/02/2020 23:08

Op why don't you get a cool toned DW and mix it with your warned toned DW?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/02/2020 23:21

I have a cool toned DW,Fresco and Cool Beige are cool toned. The warmer colours are too yellow for me,make me look like a Simpson Grin

**pure beige not cool beige

BusterGonad · 06/02/2020 05:08

Oh sorry, I mean a much lighter one then so you can mix with one of your too dark ones.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/02/2020 09:42

That's a really good idea, I could get the lightest DW and use it as you would lightening drops.

Just put my slap on and used the Collection lightening primer and it's a good colour now, I'll see how it lasts through the day.

OP posts:
BusterGonad · 06/02/2020 10:06

And that way op you've not wasted money on the darker ones and you can change it with the seasons, I've got Laura Mercier ones and I mix them together to shade I want. And I can also use the paler one under my eyes etc.

BusterGonad · 06/02/2020 10:44

I've got 2 Laura Mercier ones I mean, one called Creme and one in Ecru. The Ecru is lovely and gives my face a bit of warmth and is great in the summer, the creme is a tad pale but works well in the winter and cools down the Ecru in between

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/02/2020 11:39

So far I like the Fresco mixed with lightening drops- just looked in the car mirror and looks fab. Car mirrors always highlight anything dodgyGrin

Great news!

tiddlerthefish · 06/02/2020 12:27

I wear DW and am pale and pink. I use IC1 Shell. They discontinued it for a while a few years back but bought it back because it was missed by us pale people! It really is quite light but perfect for me.

MustBeThin · 06/02/2020 13:22

I use NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, it's full coverage, doesn't look cakey and I've worn it for 13-14 hours many times and it still looks the same as when I first applied it. I think there're around 40 shades too, I'm literally ghost pale and struggle to find foundation light enough but their fairest shade Oslo is too pale for me which is unheard of.
