That's it, I'm divorcing EL Doublewear!

I bloody give up HmmAngry

I LOVE this stuff but cannot for the life of me get properly shade matched.

I am a bit lighter than Mac NW20,so fair skinned with rosy undertones.

If I use Fresco in DW it's good but slight too dark so I just need to go slightly lighter.

I have tried Pale Almond, Dawn ( because I read you should NEVER use a cool toned foundation as it will look hideous Confused) and yesterday got matched with Cool Beige but it STILL doesn't look right.

I tried a Clinique foundation in Alabaster which was the most perfect colour ever ,think it was Even Better Foundation but it doesn't last more than a couple of hours. What's the best Clinique foundation, anyone know?

Dear God,it can't be this hard to find a foundation, surely?

If I mix Bourjois Healthy Mix with Fresco I get a better colour.

Sigh....

What other foundations are as good coverage as Double Wear please?

Smile

I use Cover FX. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Sakura7 · 04/02/2020 00:15

The NW shades in Mac are cool toned and the NCs are warm. For some reason they name them the opposite way round. The NWs have pinky undertones and the NCs have golden undertones. I have cool toned pale Irish skin and NW13 is perfect for me. When I used Double Wear I found Ecru my best match.

Elllllle · 04/02/2020 00:44

@ElloBrian which coverfx? What sort of finish and coverage does it have?

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 04/02/2020 01:13

I'm alabaster in the clinique foundation (forget the exact name of the foundation i tried but it was definitely clinque) and i'm Intensity 1.0 in double wear light foundation. sometimes need intensity 0.5 in the very depths of winter. I'm very pale with pink undertones

BitOfFun · 04/02/2020 02:06

I heartily recommend Phoera. You'd need to find their website to view the shades, but the coverage is UNBEATABLE.

themental · 04/02/2020 06:59

I wondered if someone would recommend Phoera! I order it from Amazon, so cheap and the coverage is insane. The shades aren't great so you might have to mix, but it's worth it.

emsyj37 · 04/02/2020 08:54

I was matched as Fresco in DW and it was ever so slightly too dark, so I went back and asked what was the same tone but one shade lighter and got Desert Beige, which was perfect. I've tried so many other foundations but I keep coming back to DW, nothing else is quite the same.

MinesaPinot · 04/02/2020 09:08

I'm Alabaster in Clinique foundation - I use Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer. Best liquid one I've found.

MerryGrinchmas1 · 04/02/2020 09:26

I had pure beige as a match but it looked a bit orange on me so I didn't like it. I've gone for 2C0 cool vanilla now and it's a much better match!

Iooselipssinkships · 04/02/2020 09:31

Mix them! I mix a few different foundation colours together including DW, Loreal Infallible and No7 Stay Matte, just a little bit of each and it works a treat. Doesnt look cakey or full on either. The colours I use are when I'm pale in Winter and tanned in Summer. Some are just slightly off so tweeking them enables me to get a good match.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/02/2020 09:36

I've woken up with itchy eyelids so looks like I can't wear the Catrice one for any length of time so back to the drawing board with DW.

I've mixed it with Health Serum today and it's a perfect colour. Next time I'm near a EL counter I'll get a sample of Desert Beige. I wondered about Cool Vanilla, will try that too.

The hunt continues.

I wear Callico from the HydraLuminous no7 range. I’m fair, cool - slight pink undertones.
It’s brilliant. It’s the 2nd fairest.

withlotsoflove · 04/02/2020 15:27

If you’d like me to post a temporary picture- let me know.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/02/2020 15:42

Thank you, I was matched for hydroluminous but didn't get on with it at all, it ages me dreadfully and it did the opposite of what it's meant to do ConfusedGrin

Oh that’s such bad luck. I’ve never heard anyone not love it. Sorry. :(

bambiqueen · 04/02/2020 16:47

I'm very pale with pink tones,DW in Ivory Nude is perfect

withlotsoflove · 04/02/2020 16:48

The Korean BB creams are really brilliant too.
Missha make a wonderful one in a red tube.
You’d probably need 21.
I’d recommend getting it from yesstyle.com as the market is saturated with fakes!
They ship from Hong Kong.

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 04/02/2020 17:40

I wear alabaster in Clinique if I’m using that one and I use ivory nude in DW, fresco is quite a pinky undertone and desert beige I found went quite yellow on me but Ivory nude is perfect. It’s 1N1 I think in DW. Definitely as I for a sample first though and try it.

Freshstart40 · 04/02/2020 17:41

ecru is the shade I use. My complexion sounds v similar to yours.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/02/2020 17:43

Thanks for all the suggestions folks, really appreciate it!

I think I might try the Korean one. I've ordered samples of DW and I'll get some white foundation drops tomorrow to see if I can tone down the Fresco .

OP posts:
Puppydogg1 · 04/02/2020 17:45

I had the same problem with double wear, fresco was slightly too dark and cool beige wasn't right.
I use Desert Beige and it's a wonderful match!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/02/2020 18:04

I've just looked at reviews of the Korean BB, it won't be good enough coverage for me,I can see from the video ( I need cement 😉) and it's too dewy. Dewy doesn't work for me,I just look sweaty . How attractive 🙄

You can buy foundation lighteners and darkeners and mix them with some of your foundation! Lots of companies do them - The Body Shop, NYX, Revolution, Nip & Fab, etc.
