Is this too white to wear to a wedding?

Just bought this lovely dress (still waiting for it to arrive). Do you think I could wear it to a wedding in July? No biggie if not. It’s probably too white now I think about it 🤔

It’s supposed to be cream rather than white but still

I think it's too white, yes. It's probably not dressy enough either, though it might look more so with different shoes.

MoltonSilver · 19/01/2020 22:54

Yes, I think it's too white.

HairyToity · 19/01/2020 22:56

As long as accessories are a bold colour and not white or silver, I think it's fine for a wedding. Lovely dress.

happytobemrsg · 19/01/2020 23:04

I’d pick a colour out of the dress, coral maybe, for a clutch & chunky headband. Unfortunately I can’t walk in heels, so it’ll be sparkly flat sandals.

It wouldn't bother me if someone wore a dress that colour to my wedding but it's nowhere near dressy enough for a wedding imo even with heels

happytobemrsg · 19/01/2020 23:09

I can’t afford to buy a dress which can only be worn to the wedding so I guess I have to have it erring on the more casual side

OP posts:
Lipperfromchipper · 19/01/2020 23:13

No not too white but too casual imo.

Lipperfromchipper · 19/01/2020 23:14

Actually on closer inspection if you wear it with blue heels it would dress it up a lot more. Yeah go for it! It’s not too white, you’ll hardly outshine/look like the bride Confused

ballsdeep · 19/01/2020 23:14

Not dressy enough even with accessories. It looks like something you'd wear shooing on a Saturday

SunbeamsOverhead · 19/01/2020 23:15

Yes.

Deadsouls · 19/01/2020 23:15

I think it's too white

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 19/01/2020 23:16

I’m sorry OP, but I think it’s horrible. It’s looks like a cheap 80s style dress.

happytobemrsg · 19/01/2020 23:17

Very divided with at least one person hating it Grin

Of course it’s dressy enough for a wedding. It’ll look awesome, some bright accessories & it’s not too white.

BikeRunSki · 19/01/2020 23:18

It’s the type of thing a more relaxed/informal bride might get married in.

But then it’s not fit so enough to be a guest dress at a formal wedding.

JoanieCash · 19/01/2020 23:18

Looks lovely, colours fine for a wedding. Only you will know if the wedding is supposed to be a ‘coast dress, terrible pashmina, ted baker shoes, fascinator monstrosity and fun handbag’, or something more down to earth like this (usually the better weddings imho)

100% ‘occasional’ enough for a wedding, it’s lovely. Choose some beautiful and bold accessories and shoes, doesn’t need to be expensive. eBay is your friend! Looks nothing like a wedding dress either so I’d say go for it.

Luzina · 19/01/2020 23:22

Its not too casual for a wedding. It is too white though.

BronteSisters · 19/01/2020 23:23

Another voice saying it's not a wedding guest dress. Sorry. It's far too casual, even dressed up with heels. And yep, too white for me as well.

Sorry OP, I’m probably twice your age and just had horrible flashbacks. 😳

SinglePringle · 19/01/2020 23:24

Styled well, that would be a beautiful dress for a Spring wedding (especially on a younger woman)

So much nicer than the above mentioned Ted Baker / Coast / Hobbs etc one often sees.

Hairband and glitter Mary-James (like the Mui Mui ones - they come in flat or heels. Russell and Bromley do great copies too. If funds are tight, look for the latter on EBay) sound lovely.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 19/01/2020 23:25

Not too white, I don't think; but definitely too casual unless it's a rather casual wedding... it's the shape, it sort of just hangs, like a nighty with big shoulders. If it had a bit more shape, it'd look great with some heels.

That said, if it is a casual affair and you love it, get some bright accessories and it'll do okay.

AmelieTaylor · 19/01/2020 23:25

If the bride is wearing a traditional wedding dress this is fine for a guest. If she’s not then I wouldn’t.

I wouldn’t any way as it would be a giid foot too long and even re hemmed I’d look like a chubby 4 year old in it. Tall & elegant I’m not 🤣

Hope the wedding is fun!
