Is this too white to wear to a wedding?

Just bought this lovely dress (still waiting for it to arrive). Do you think I could wear it to a wedding in July? No biggie if not. It’s probably too white now I think about it 🤔

Is this too white to wear to a wedding?

Lovely dress. Perfectly formal enough if not worn with trainers but too white.

SinglePringle · 19/01/2020 23:32

(Just looked on The Outnet and there are a number of flat pink sandals - many shades from soft baby to shocking and from £75 for a pair of Michael Kors up to around £250 for other names. No Miu Miu though!)

Palavah · 19/01/2020 23:34

Too white

mumwon · 19/01/2020 23:35

would a belt work with this in a strong colour that matches one of the spots (like the blue?) & have bag to match? I am thinking dyed (faux Grin) leather? bright bold colour shoes

lolalovesroses · 19/01/2020 23:40

Where's the dress from?I really like it,but not for a wedding.

TheFormidableMrsC · 19/01/2020 23:41

I can't see what on earth is wrong with this for a wedding. I certainly wouldn't mistake somebody for the bride if they were wearing this. Bright, accent shoes and bag would be a good idea, I'd choose red I think. It's lovely!

I always wonder about these threads with wedding attire. I wouldn't dream of wearing a pure cream or white dress to a wedding but my own mum wore a beautiful cream suit to my wedding with accents of black and looked stunning! She just looked like the mother of the bride, the colour blended perfectly with the theme. Indeed, I have twice worn a beautifully cut cream trouser suit to summer weddings with appropriate monochrome accessories in terms of hat, shoes, bag. It never occurred to me that that wasn't OK Confused. I wore black to a winter wedding that took place in a dungeon, but then so did a lot of others. Apparently you shouldn't do that either...but it was absolutely appropriate given time of year and venue. Wear what you want as long as it's not floor length and white.

Too casual and too 'kids tv'

kinsss · 19/01/2020 23:58

Sorry now, but if you have to ask, you really know the answer.

Haworthia · 19/01/2020 23:59

Who are these crazies saying it’s too white? No bridal dresses look like that or have star print.

It’s completely fine.

minipie · 20/01/2020 00:15

I think completely fine too. Especially with a belt in one of the star colours. You’d need heels and dressy hair and make up to make it smart enough.

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/01/2020 00:19

Love the dress. Wear it with chunky statement necklace, shoes (converse) and bag that match - maybe a belt. I would go with navy or orange.

Popc0rn · 20/01/2020 00:30

Not too white, but it's too casual for a wedding.

Doyouavocado · 20/01/2020 00:40

I love it! Where from? X

BitOfFun · 20/01/2020 00:42

I think it looks fine for a wedding, especially as you will be accessorising with colour.

I don't really understand why some posters think it's too casual- where else would you wear it? It seems pretty much designed as a wedding guest outfit.

wetwiped · 20/01/2020 00:46

Not too white and love the dress.

Chochito · 20/01/2020 00:47

That dress is really casual, but it's nice.

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/01/2020 00:52

I am failing to see how this dress is too casual? It's styled as such in the picture because of the trainers...which let's face it, nobody is going to wear for a wedding. Heels and the right accessories and it'll be absolutely lovely.

McGruff · 20/01/2020 01:09

I love it. Killer heels in a bold colour with big chunky coloured accessories and a red lip. Gorgeous.

Ilovesausages · 20/01/2020 01:32

I love it. It would be fab for a wedding!

LesLavandes · 20/01/2020 02:27

Love it. Where did you get it from?

NotYourHun · 20/01/2020 02:34

Looks lovely, colours fine for a wedding. Only you will know if the wedding is supposed to be a ‘coast dress, terrible pashmina, ted baker shoes, fascinator monstrosity and fun handbag’,

😂😂😂 This.

MrsMaryBOOface · 20/01/2020 02:39

I LOVE it! I think it'll look fabulous at a wedding. My only concern would be sleeves at a July wedding if we have another hot summer.

OP said she can't wear heels- I would go for something like this but in a bright colour:

HeronLanyon · 20/01/2020 03:17

From a distance it might be too white. Up close probably not. It really depends on what type of wedding and what type of material it is and how it hangs/flows. Etc as to whether it would be ok. Ie whether you would feel good in it. I like it and agree it could carry a belt (Orange?) and shoes bag to dress it up and tone it down a bit. The stars are I think what would make me hesitate for a wedding but no idea why !
Probably need to get it in and then you’ll know.

georgialondon · 20/01/2020 06:23

Yes

MoltonSilver · 20/01/2020 07:52

My rule of thumb is if you have to ask the question then wear something else.

There's a whole rainbow of colours out there This time if year most things in the shops aren't white. You've gone for one of the very few things out there that is white.
