Love both pairs of glasses @OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack Will suit you.
Looks like it’s going to be a dull morning here. Up early to prepare for a four hour meeting. Joy!
Have great days all Voguettes Flowers

Very belated happy new year Voguettes! How is everyone?

We had a crappy end of 2020 and start to 2021 so I have only had the chance to do a bit of lurking. Loved all the links, especially your bag @BlairWaldorfLovesShopping! It's funny to think that in the 10 months, I think I have barely used my handbags.

Not much fashion news here. I did buy this French connection lace velvet blouse a couple of weeks ago. I have continued to wear nice tops with jeans on weekdays and just using the lockdown to experiment with different types of tops. On Friday, I wore this Somerset By Alice Temperley tie neck jumper which I love. Someone commented on how smart I looked, and I realised that one little thing I have done to keep going over the last year is just keep my standards going, with hair, make up and clothes. It's been a small but important thing. Weekend wear is all cashmere sweaters and joggers!

Like most people, trying to manage the weight gain has been a struggle. I have been exercising 4 times a week but not having time to do much other moving around is a nightmare so my new year resolution has been to take a daily lunchtime walk and to cut out the lunchtime carbs, which I never used to have.

Hope everyone is managing to do little things too. Maybe @libertyonhertravels you need to shop and exercise for the rest of us poor Voguettes in the northern hemisphere! Happy SundayGrin

Links didn't work! French connection blouse and Somerset by Alice Temperley tie neck jumper

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/01/2021 12:21

I forgot to say, I got some bling for christmas, I was given a gold, diamond and opal necklace which was a huge surprise and very unexpected! I feel very blingy when i wear it and ive been wearing it a lot as I like a bit of sparkle!!

Applefairy · 24/01/2021 13:28

Your necklace sounds lovely and a real pick me up One.

I hope things improve for you Caroline. Your links are impressive. There is a real art to making and impact in video conferences with personal style. Those tops are perfect.

Very hot here. I am surviving in midi-linen dresses, straw hats, Birkenstocks, raffia flat sandals etc.

Any more sales purchases from anyone? I kept a few of the Ganni dresses I ordered. They will be perfect for work (I’m hoping we are back in the office while it’s still summer here).

Also I’ve kept this bag which will go well with the earthy tones I love to wear.

DryWhiteagainW · 24/01/2021 22:32

Voguettes I’m an idiot!!!
Carolineb Like you I’ve put on a few extra pounds over this period. You might remember I used to go to the gym a lot and I’ve missed my classes ....anyway decided things have got to change, so, what did I do? One HIT zoom class followed by a 8mile power walk on Saturday, HIT class again this morning .....can’t walk now!!!!

VivaVegas · 26/01/2021 23:24

Hi all,

It's all a bit rubbish isn't it!

So fed up of either working (at home) or walking or cooking and cleaning and now throw in trying to help teach a reluctant teen 🤯

Limited fashion requirements clearly. Bought some more Sweaty Betty leggings in their sale and a rather nice running jacket. I too am desperate to not give up the fight of the dreaded weight gain, I desperately miss the gym!

Bought this fab red hoody real nice. Soft, longer length and just bright and cosy!

Other than that and some new slippers I have zero to report!

Applefairy · 27/01/2021 04:02

I am tempted by that hoody - lovely red and nice cut - it looks just right for a shot of colour.

I remember feeling just as you described @VivaVegas when we were in our long winter lockdown. When you come out the other side it is so wonderful - the sun comes out and slowly you get to dress up more. Going for a fancy summer cocktail at a trendy bar in the sun with great company is just so wonderful. Hang on, it will happen, this won't last forever.

Saying that, I am still working at home and in a Uniqlo midi black tshirt dress. One of the ones with the built in bra. And an old necklace from Harry Rocks. I was just checking their website as I typed this - I had forgotten how much I liked their necklaces.

One thing I did in our lockdown (apart from going for a walk, helping reluctant DCs and feeling like a slug), was to throw all my skincare stockpile on my face every day. I feel like all the months of no makeup and lots of skin care have made a difference.

Applefairy · 27/01/2021 06:21

I recall at least one of you has a Juste Un Clou bracelet. I think I will save to treat myself to one so I stop mindless spending on things I do not need.

Which one is better the thin or thick? Diamonds or plain? I am tending towards the thicker yellow gold with no diamonds. I have small wrists and wear v little jewellery normally (not even rings or a watch). I would like to wear it every day.

Any advice from lurkers also appreciated Smile

libertyonhertravels · 27/01/2021 20:03

I don't have one applefairy but have just looked at them and I think a thicker, plain version would be gorgeous for everyday.

caroline i should be exercising for everyone but I am being very lazy apart from walking. Still very much in holiday mode as I haven't started my new job yet and we haven't bought a house yet. The reality of how much a house is going to cost is curbing my spending atm. Though, that said, I am keen to get a couple of new things before I start work. Ideally I would like a dress, jacket and shoes. I will have a day shopping when DD starts back at school next week.

CarolineBingley · 30/01/2021 08:51

Hi Voguettes hope everyone has had a good week!Smile

@Applefairy I have very small frame with childlike wrists so I tend to suit think rather than thick bangles. The Juste Un Clou is a gorgeous bracelet. I would go for plain gold, no diamonds and because of my small frame, I would chose the thin bangle. So if you’re small frame, thin bangle, if you’re medium frame then thick bangle.

@OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack congratulations on your new necklace! I have continued to wear nice jewellery during lockdown. It would be so depressing if I didn’t! As I have a habit of talking with my hands, I frequently get messages during/after zoom calls commenting on my jewelleryGrin

@VivaVegas love that red next hoodie!

Another weekend of casual wear beckons for me! DD’s new favourite shop is Pretty Little Thing so this is all new to meGrin

LoveFromDeauville · 30/01/2021 10:56

Morning all. Another early start for me. Have an hour of work ahead of me and then plan to enjoy the weekend. @Applefairy I did have a Juste un Clou bracelet but I’m not a fan at all. DH bought it for me. I have no idea why as it’s the very opposite to what I like. I suspect it was bought at the last minute, in a panic! I wore it a few times but it really wasn’t me. I have it put aside in case it’s something DD might like in years to come. Sorry I’m not very helpful am I? Hmm
Looks like a chilly but sunny weekend here. I’m looking forward to getting out for a run. Have good weekends Voguettes Flowers

maradesbois · 31/01/2021 13:08

Happy Sunday Voguettes,

@Applefairy I really think we have almost identical taste, I see you as an antipodean smaller-wristed version of myself Grin. I’ve wanted a juste un clou for years and still waiting but would go for the thicker gold one as am not delicate of wrist like you and @CarolineBingley but definitely agree the finer one best for you. Personally I like them plain given that it is based on a nail, diamonds feel a bit like gilding the lily but obvs wouldn’t say no if I was offered one!

@CarolineBingley same here on the bag front. I bought a burgundy APC Genève the week before lockdown last March and it has never left the dust bag so no more bags on the horizon for me.

My mood was so low this week, a combination of work stress and managing home school but realised yesterday I had literally not left the house all week. Just home from a 2-hour walk and feel so much better. Like others am exercising indoors around 4 times per week and while my squats and lunges are 👌🏻 it doesn’t compensate for the daily activity I’d usually be doing.

Have my eye on a couple of things in NAP new season 15% off, still debating but will link if I go for anything. Also £20 off for £100 spent at Space NK, am thinking of trying Kate Somerville skincare, does anybody have any intel? Maybe @shopafrolic or @justasecond

shopafrolic · 31/01/2021 15:02

Which Kate Somerville @maradesbois? Drop me a text and I can let you know...... I used the code for my Hourglass powder and bronzer and order a Charlotte Tilbury hydrating lipstick / balm thing to try.

Ordered a new jumpsuit from Whistles (via Selfridges) - will link if good.....

shopafrolic · 01/02/2021 17:16

Evening Voguettes - how are you all?
Meltdown chez Shop today - I am so over home schooling. MrShop ventured out of his office for lunch and said it was like a war zone Hmm you can imagine how well that went down.
But in style news I took delivery of my jumpsuit of dreams - the search is finally over. The right leg length, the right level of slouch, silver hardware, pockets. Dreams (and two year searches really do come true). It has stayed on, red lipstick added. Smile
My SpaceNK order also arrived today taking advantage of the discount - I topped up on Hourglass powder and bronzer, and got one of the new Hyaluronic lipsticks from Charlotte Tilbury to try.
Sending love to all.

maradesbois · 02/02/2021 13:48

Oh no Shop - I hear you on the homeschool front, just caught ds staring out of the window on a zoom call with his back to the teacher, I despair! Half term is going to be both a blessing and a curse.

maradesbois · 02/02/2021 13:59

Also thanks for skincare recs, looking forward to receiving my Medik8.

General opinion wanted on flat shoes for spring/summer. Is the slipper or backless style still relevant? Does anyone have a preference re any of these?

Right, going to stop procrastinating and get back to work.

shopafrolic · 02/02/2021 14:14

I always think that backless shoes must be a bugger to walk in but I have no experience to know. Of the first three I prefer last pic but I really like those collapsible back ones. In terms of what is on trend currently - not a clue Grin - no help!

I'd just love to be even wearing shoes at the moment. I am living in UGG slippers - I'm growing to hate them.

maradesbois · 02/02/2021 19:15

I’m in my house clogs @shopafrolic but a girl can dream of better times!

libertyonhertravels · 04/02/2021 09:50

I can't do backless shoes either. mara I adore those cream loafers. I have an off white pair of Dune loafers with gold trim and they are really versatile so I think you would get lots of wear from them. It's as easy to wear nice shoes around the house as Uggs you know Wink

I had a shopping day today...

this dress. So swishy, nice fabric, has pockets.

cropped rust wide leg trousers these fit really well and will go with lots of my existing tops and jackets.

striped linen T Nice fit, works well with the above trousers and also with jeans.

sage cotton cardigan really cosy and great colour for me. I will be wearing this a lot over next few months.

leopard print linen T I think I will wear this to death. Really useful piece both for work and casual wear.

I almost bought this shirt dress. I haven't worn black dresses or tops for years since I discovered I am an autumn. But I really liked it on (has pockets too!!) and it looked great with my Adidas trainers. I also tried it with some low heeled pumps and it instantly looked very office appropriate. I left it but I am very tempted to go back and get it.

I need to catch up properly but was just mating on the start date to this thread. The roaring twenties will come but how much we didn’t know what was coming!

I’ve also neglected to say that for Christmas I got an APC bag and Paul Smith silk shirt.

Dh faces hard times these days as I no longer ask for specific items. He has to go it alone.

Ok going to catch up

Applefairy · 04/02/2021 18:04

Great haul @libertyonhertravels, I’m tempted by the leopard print T.

@maradesbois, we really do have similar taste as I was just on the Gucci website yesterday and looking at the same shoes. I have the taupe Princetown on my list of desires.

Applefairy · 04/02/2021 18:07

@libertyonhertravels, I’d get the black dress. I’m a dark autumn and I wear black. Although now my hair is lighter I’m more conscious of it looking too severe.
