New year, new decade, new thread. Come join us for friendly fashion chat, you can agonise over the right length to wear your jeans or deliberate the exact tone of lippy. A frivolous space in tricky times. All welcome.

Is there anybody therrrrrrrrrrrrre?

Are we giving up again?
Just in case we’re not. The TS Dad jeans are going back as they weren’t wide legged enough. I’ve ordered some Zara ones to try instead and will link if any good.
DH said if I see anything I like the look of for Christmas to get it now if it’s in the sale. So I’ve just ordered these gloves

libertyonhertravels · 19/11/2020 07:34

Nice gloves shop. Shame about the jeans. Tricky when you are trying a new shape to get it right. I remember us all discussing brands for skinnies and boyfriend jeans endlessly at one point.

Nice gloves Shop, my boots came and they are fab, look good with skinnies (still can't get away from them!) and with opaque tights and leather skirt etc.
I shall be wearing them just to walk to to shops!

Stokey · 19/11/2020 12:18

I'm here Shop. Just got this wool dress from Uniqlo which I'm wearing today, I really like it. And have finally got round to getting my Whistles green cord boiler suit taken up so I can actually wear it. Shame about the TS jeans, I'm in a Jean vacuum, think I will go wide too. I remember that too Lib, think I got my Paige ones as a result which I wore till they collapsed.
Good news on the boots Viva. I'm still on a boots search, keep ordering and returning. Next ones I'm trying are some crazy gold Esska ones which I'll link if I keep.

shopafrolic · 19/11/2020 14:45

God I loved my Paige Jimmy’s @Stokey - I wore mine to death too.
I bet you’ll rock the boiler suit - perfect for you.
@libertyonhertravels I doubt I’ll be able to leave my skinnies behind but I’m so bored - and isolation flab is driving me to change.

maradesbois · 21/11/2020 12:09

I’m here too @shopafrolic just don’t have a lot to contribute atm under the circumstances! Following your jeans quest with interest though as desperately need new ones. Going to start with a high st buy, really like the shape of the H&M @BlairWaldorfLovesShopping got recently.

@VivaVegas dynamic product ads for your new boots are following me round! They are really nice and perfect for now - elevating the everyday.

My recent Ganni purchases from Matches are definitely keepers. This white shirt with huge collar feels very now. I’ll wear it under cardigans for winter, the low neck doesn’t work with jumpers. It is lower than it looks in the pic which made me hesitate but have decided all is good. Also like the idea of a skinny polo underneath as styled here. This dress is also great, lovely shape, print and feels very me. Have literally nowhere to wear it rn but I will someday, maybe to the next mu!

Just been on a morning walk for coffee and croissants and planning a cosy day at home reading on the sofa for most of this afternoon. I’m going through scented candles like nobody’s business, a great budget recommendation is this Aldi pink pepper, amber and rose.

VivaVegas · 21/11/2020 17:45

Mara I love the boots, wore them yesterday on a solo walk to break them in and then wore them this afternoon for a coffee and walk date with skinnies and this girls coat which is perfect for a shortie like myself!

My Lisa Eldridge lipstick set arrived and it's so nice, never had one before but a friend recommended it and it's lovely, the little bag is so cute too.

I'm going through lots of candies too, they brighten up a dad afternoon and love a nice scent in the house.

maradesbois · 22/11/2020 12:57

Glad you love the boots and lipstick @VivaVegas. I’m so tempted by the Rouge Hermès range, 100% for the packaging not gonna lie but they are refillable.

Stokey · 23/11/2020 10:06

That coat looks cosy Viva.

Can so picture you in the white shirt Mara, and the dress, both are perfect.

The Esska gold boots arrived and I love them. I think they look better in RL than in the photo, and are fur-lined so incredibly cosy. They'll keep me warm in the outdoor entertaining sessions in December!

MNV Vol 88 - start of a new roaring 20's??
VivaVegas · 26/11/2020 23:20

Lovely purchases Dry.

I keep thinking about some leather skinnies, I have faux leather which really do the job I suppose for the odd occasion I'm now going to be going out Sad

I bought this Mint Velvet Sweatshirt which is really nice and I'd been waiting for a discount code to buy.

Have a few bits from Sweaty Berry coming, so pleased my gym is opening again.

Had some girls nights out (just dinner and drinks) in December but as we are tier 2 can't do them unless we eat outside 😩 I just want to get dressed up and go out and drink wine and I can't, the only person I can eat out with is my DS!

Stokey · 27/11/2020 09:24

Viva we're planning on doing it outside anyway, have got a fire pit in my garden so think can manage some wine with friends. Or outside in a pub with a pizza to tick the food box. May need to invest in a duvet coat though! I just really need to have some social life in December, I care about that more than Christmas when we're often on our own anyway.

Dry brilliant links, I particularly love the metallic pleated skirt. I don't really shop in M&S much but have been inspired by you.

I got a sample of Erborian CC cream from Space NK and it's amazing. Can't believe how easily it covers the bags under my eyes! Think I may need to invest although it's about to be advent calendar season so will probably wait till that's over.

Hope everyone is ok and Flowers for anyone going into tier 3.

VivaVegas · 27/11/2020 10:00

I know Stokey I normally love December, lots of social things going on, work nights out, basically a month of getting dressed up, eating and drinking! DS is too old to visit Santa now but we're going to go and see the local nights one evening and have our usual traditions with putting the tree up etc. Just all feels a bit flat.

Hopefully this time next year things will be normal 🤞

Themarvellousmrsm · 27/11/2020 19:02

Not been here for a while, been working a lot but pleased we're still going just!

However, I've very much enjoyed the recent links especially your gold boots Stokey and yy to the erborian cc cream, it's a great product.

Dry love all your purchases but the grey knit is my favourite and Mara love the Ganni dress

Viva must be very difficult trying to date atm; I nearly bought the same MV s/shirt but resisted. It's still on my mind though so may purchase.

Whilst I've ordered and returned masses of items, these are what I've kept:
Chunky chelsea boots which I wear with boyfriend jeans (Next petite which amazingly need no hemming)

Sparkly top - on the off chance I may have a chance to wear it Hmm

Tiger jumper - this was linked on another thread a few weeks ago and couldn't resist! Absolutely love it

Cant remember who mentioned advent calendars but I have the JL one and cant wait to start opening next week. Does anyone else have one?

VivaVegas · 27/11/2020 20:03

MrsM the sweatshirt is really nice, a very dark nearly black navy.

I have the Amazon beauty advent calendar, I usually buy the M & S one but they haven't done it this year so this seemed a good option based on reviews.

I do love a beauty advent calendar!

CarolineBingley · 28/11/2020 09:54

Helloooo! It’s been a frantic couple of weeks but back in the land of the living.Just been reading all the posts and links over the last 2 weeks. @maradesbois that Ganni white shirt has me intrigued. It’s sooo not me that I am really keen to hear how you’ve ended up styling it as you have a flair for such things.

@VivaVegas it’s so good to have another Voguette who unashamedly shops in the girls departments too Grin. Love the MV sweatshirt. It’s very Shop too.

@Stokey I reckon you have hit on the magic formula for this lockdown Christmas tier 2 socialising with those gold boots!

@DryWhiteagainW that Lipsy top is fab and very similar to an Alice &Oliver sweater that I tend to wear during the month of December. Love the M&S metallic skirt. I never know how you pull off such lovely skirts.

@Themarvellousmrsm I love that sparkly top! You have got me thinking.... Normally in December I wear a sparkly top each Friday in the office as my ode to Christmas bit given its going to be such a dull December I might just brighten it up by wearing lots of sparkly tops and sparkly earrings during the month.

Hope everyone okay. This weekend I am going to up my Christmas game. I was totally disorganised and have sorted out advent calendars for the dcs and dh but none for myself Sad. I am normally strict about not doing the decorations until 12 days before Christmas but given the kind of year it’s been, think we’re going to do it next weekend. We normally have 6 Christmas trees (Mix of real and fake) but I have decided I am going to need one in my study to cheer me up so I am gearing up to tell dh that i want another one Grin. What’s everyone else doing this weekend? Any Black Friday bargains?
