New year, new decade, new thread. Come join us for friendly fashion chat, you can agonise over the right length to wear your jeans or deliberate the exact tone of lippy. A frivolous space in tricky times. All welcome.

@Applefairy, as @MissKittyKitty said I do like a basket bag! Think you and I have similar taste so sharing some info fwiw:

APC has been releasing some sort of raffia bag each summer for a few years now. I have last years Garance but with brown leather trim. This years is the Colette wicker bag. I like mine as it is really well crafted, lined and isn’t rough against clothing. The Loewe one is nice to look at but a bit basic for my liking at the price, more like a beach bag. That reminds me, remember your BBB @Everyonelovessparkles Grin

A friend has this Céline beauty which looks great from a distance but haven’t examined it up close.

Everyonelovessparkles · 07/10/2020 14:37

GrinGrin mara, when I saw apple’s request i was going to say about my BBB!! That bag! It has actually turned out ok in the end as I can get a lot of stuff in it in a trip to the beach or park, but I was sooooo hacked off when it arrived. Still wasn’t worth the money though.

Thanks for all the concealer recommendations. Have a couple of John Lewis vouchers so might try something new.

caroline did you get the new boodles ‘secret garden’ catalogue? It was beautifully
shot. Circled anything for your DH’s attention for Xmas?!

Hope the roof got sorted mara, at least it’s dry today.

Any news on your bag blair?

How was the clomp boot search shop? Did you find any contenders?

I’ve just had my hair cut. First time in probably a year Blush and it feels soooo good! Nothing dramatic, just a decent trim. It looks so much thicker and healthier when it’s shoulder length.

Any decisions on the ring ‘lib*?

MissKittyKitty · 07/10/2020 16:53

Every your BBB sprang to mind too at Apple's request. Glad the bag has worked out okay in the end.

Mara I knew you'd come good. Hope you got the leak under control.

shopafrolic · 07/10/2020 18:39

Boot search got postponed @Everyonelovessparkles as my friend put her back out so rescheduled for next week.
I’ve just ordered the NaP beauty advent calendar in the hope that I can keep some bits and give some as Christmas gifts. It was a toss up between that one and the Liberty one but the Hayou swung it for me. It’s my first beauty advent calendar. Have any of you ordered any?

Applefairy · 08/10/2020 16:48

@Everyonelovessparkles I remember the BBB saga from my lurker days.

@maradesbois love those APC ones. I almost bought the Garance with tan leather last year and regret that I didn’t. I’d like tan leather trim so I can wear with navy.

@BlairWaldorfLovesShopping it was a different Mango one (black handle, which is why I hesitated). I do like the one you have linked. Will search on eBay.

None in Zara here atm. I need to be patient and something will come up. I have put the Collette APC wicker one on my ‘maybe’ list.

shopafrolic · 09/10/2020 15:40

Afternoon everyone. I’m just back from a lovely Gastropub lunch with the gorgeous Mara who came to see me here in Herts. So lovely to catch up after such a long time (and to have something to dress up for).
I wore my Grenson Boots, Joseph leather skinnies, Markus Lupfer sweater and grey CdC coat. She looked gorgeous in an amazing print dress, beautiful necklace (where was that from?), opaques and ankle boots. Such a treat. Smile

shopafrolic · 09/10/2020 15:42

Amusingly she came back to my house for a cuppa and DHL arrived with a NaP order - so Vogue! It was their beauty advent calendar which I plan on splitting up for Christmas gifts for my nieces.

shopafrolic · 09/10/2020 15:43

Very chic

maradesbois · 09/10/2020 18:48

So lovely to see you @shopafrolic and visit your beautiful part of the country. Really loved the hair and your whole look. I could easily have stayed and chatted all evening fireside with you in the cosy living room!

My dress was the attached Ganni and necklace from Alighieri, am a big fan of this brand both for the designs and bc I love Dante. Haven’t yet swapped my shoes over properly for the new season and am mostly wearing trainers atm but managed to dig out some v old Tod’s Chelsea boots with commons rubber soles which are great for wet weather.

For the advent calendar I’d suggest keeping the Niod serum for yourself too, it’s an alternative to retinol which I’m getting on v well with.

maradesbois · 09/10/2020 18:49

Also so Vogue that I answered your door to DHL man and it was NAP delivery Grin

shopafrolic · 09/10/2020 19:00

@maradesbois your skin looked fab so I will take your advice and snaffle the Niod for myself x

Stokey · 09/10/2020 20:23

Oh how lovely both, sounds like the perfect Vogue day. Love that Dante necklace Mara... Scuttling off to Google the Niod serum.

DryWhiteagainW · 09/10/2020 22:17

Brilliant get together Shop and Mara

shopafrolic · 10/10/2020 08:23

This is the serum @Stokey

So there were two mini MUs yesterday as I met up in London with @MarshaBradyo and Sleep. Amongst other things we went for a champagne tea at The Wolseley. No idea how Marsha is feeling this morning given she drank no tea and stuck to champagne (I reckon I must have had about 6 glasses), but I have been glugging water since I woke up 2 hours ago

@maradesbois love love your outfit for yesterday, so you❤️

Eek @shopafrolic you have reminded me I need to decide on my advent calendar! How much of it are you keeping?

@Everyonelovessparkles the new collection is gorgeous. There is a ring in there that's caught my eye but since dh got me this bangle it hasn't exactly had a lot of wears given Covid so he might be waiting to see me wear it more than twice before I get anything else from him!!

Itsmybirthday19 · 10/10/2020 16:57

@CarolineBingley strong work on the bag thread. Feels like a return to normality, a sneery bag thread.

How lovely you had a couple of MUs. I hope we'll be able to do something larger scale in the not too distant future!

Itsmybirthday19 · 10/10/2020 16:59

And in fashun news I finally got the Dior Tribale earrings this week. Wore out last night with a grey denim shirt with diamanté fringed collar (sounds insane and it is but also awesome), PVC leggings, suede slouchy high heeled boots and my pink coat. Just a low key look, you know? 😄

maradesbois · 10/10/2020 18:39

Happy Saturday Voguettes,

@CarolineBingley that’s so fab about your mini mu! Love the Wolseley 💕🥂.

@Itsmybirthday19 I was just messing about on IG and noticed your shirt right away, love it. Am all about a big collar atm, have this Ganni beauty bought pre-lockdown and covering this zara but have banned myself from Zara for quality reasons plus don’t like how they operate. Dilemma.

That bloody bag thread! It would be funny if it weren’t so sexist and classist. I have a LV travel bag from around 15 years ago that I still use and is ageing beautifully.

Having a cosy night at home with ds just the 2 of us. Candles lit, cottage pie made for dinner later and about to watch a Miyazaki film beforehand. Happy days.

MissKittyKitty · 10/10/2020 19:11

I love that blouse Mara your cosy night in sounds bliss.

birthday I was admiring your shirt on FB, will take another look at the earrings.

Loving the sound of the mini MUs.

Is the bag thread the LV one? I only read a few posts; it was starting to get on my nerves. Why do people get so worked up over a bag? Hmm

Themarvellousmrsm · 10/10/2020 22:01

I had a quick peek at the bag thread, they never end well!

Talking of which, I'm considering this bag See by Chloe but not sure which size. Maybe heading into London next week so was going to pop in and have a look.

However, I've just used some of my budget on the JL advent calendar! wonders whether to play sales chicken

Sounds like you all had a lovely time with the mini mu's; lots of lovely fashion and Mara, fab dress. Shop have you already had everything out of the calendar? Am wondering if I'll be restrained enough to open one a day in December doubt it

Am keeping these black boots - will wear a lot with dresses over the winter.

Ootd was Scotch & soda navy skinnies, Hush camo print star jumper, leather biker jacket and giant heather colour scarf, grey beanie - was so cold and drizzly.

For Sunday lunch with friends tomorrow, will wear HL coated skinnies, Anthropologie orange print blouse and Office shoe boots. May struggle with the latter as last time I wore heels was early March!

CarolineBingley · 11/10/2020 08:47

@maradesbois sounds like such a cosy evening, hope you had a nice time!

@Themarvellousmrsm I adore Chloé bags but big caveat is that they tend to be quite heavy because of the metal they use. The one you linked is lovely and reminds me of my Marcie (which is heavy). HL coated skinnies....I remember when that was all the rage on this thread

@Itsmybirthday19 lol! You confused me on the other thread as I didn't initially recognise your name change! Ahhh remember the days we spent battling it out on the bench thread?Grin

I honestly don't get the LV Neverfull hate. I think it's a beautiful bag, handy for chucking loads of stuff in and light. The idea that you get a Neverfull to display your wealth just made me chortle given its probably the most copied fake bag in the world! If you use it out and about, people in the street are far more likely to think you got a really good fake than you have real thing.Grin

Itsmybirthday19 · 11/10/2020 18:16

I am not backing down on that thread.

I love a good scrap on t'internet.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 11/10/2020 18:59

ugh, bag threads always get nasty. They are as entitled as anyone else not to like soemthing or to like soemthing but just because someones got different taste toy ou and like sa designer bag or ten, doesnt make you morally superior. Get fed up of the brigade that always pops up saying how tacky they are and how they would NEVER spend that much on a bag. Well, good for you but ti doesnt make you a better person, looking down your nose on people actually enjoying something

libertyonhertravels · 12/10/2020 10:07

Where is the bag thread? S&B or AIBU??

Love the MU stories.

Here it is Lib

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4045259-to-think-you-only-buy-a-LV-handbag-to-show-off-how-wealthy-you-are

I mean would you really judge your friends unfavourably if they're sporting an LV bag? Really? Hmm
