In case anyone is interested I thought I would share the names of two instagrammers/bloggers I found and enjoyed when I was missing MNV over the last few months: Kerry Lockwood Style (she also has a beautiful eye for interiors) and Carolines Style Hacks. Both have a lovely casual, chic style. Saying that, I am stripping back my instagram to accounts that are not trying to sell me things (although these two come across as really loving clothes and what they wear).

Applefairy · 01/10/2020 19:21

@shopafrolic, I think a lot of people (me included) feel like you.

I miss seeing the clothes style at the bottom of my work building - lots of cafes and bars in the street around the entrance for good people watching Smile.

libertyonhertravels · 01/10/2020 19:21

Good tips applefairy. I'm not on Instagram but thinking about it. The rust sweater is from Jean's West. I just checked the website but not on there even though I only bought it a few weeks ago.

The key with masks is nose breathing IMO. If you breathe through your mouth you get a mouthful of mask which triggers the sense of your breathe being obstructed when the mask hits your lips on the in breaths.

Just wanted to pop in and say lovely to 'see' you all and catch up with your news. And the ring on the left gets my vote lib!

Stokey · 01/10/2020 21:04

The mask & lipstick thing is so tricky. I find eye make-up quite irritating so would always compensate with lipstick and now it's all about the eyes. Feel like I'm going to have to up my game. I do find the disposable medical masks more breathable but they're awful from an environmental perspective.
I read a good thing about how the 6 month downward spiral is really common in people who are in disaster situations, think that's where we all are collectively right now. It's been so long and no prospect of let-up going into winter.

Like hearing OOTDs though. I had quite a few meetings so wore my blue leopard Kemi Telford midi dress over a black long sleeve tee & black Chelsea boots. Broke out the opaques for the first time this season too.

justasecond · 01/10/2020 21:30

lib both rings are lovely but I think I prefer the single stone. The gold looks good with the green stone but then I am all about the gold and green at the moment with my kitchen!
Apple I love both those jumpers, exactly my sort of colours. Never had my colours done but am probably an autumn.
caroline lovely cardigans esp like the ted baker blouse.
shop I hear you, masks are no fun at all. Have you tried a small scarf tied like a bandana instead a bit like olivia palermo?
Lipstick seems a waste at the moment I wear this a lot instead nars afterglow
Bernice hello!

justasecond · 01/10/2020 21:38

Speaking of eyes has anyone tried a good concealer recently? My usual is just not cutting it atm, In fact don't tell me off but I'm considering under eye fillers. The darkness is one thing but the craters that have appeared are really bothering me.
I use a combo of Armani power fabric and Trish Mcevoy currently.

Everyonelovessparkles · 02/10/2020 11:47

Great outfit stokey. I’ve never been a big lip stick fan (thin lips Grin) so covering up my lips is less of an issue for me.

I had that trish mcevoy concealer too but toning down the red on my nose. The under the eye I use her ‘instant eye lift’ which I like but it isn’t as heavy duty as the other one do maybe isn’t what you are looking for.

Nice buys caroline. I like that style of cardigan.

I had a preview email from Boden. Nothing really caught my eye and I thought it was all really expensive - £120 for a 100% polyester dress! Even with the usual discounting that’s still £100!

I wore the forest green dress yesterday so am wearing the black knitted dress today. Shoes are always a bit problematic with it as it’s a funny length (a couple of inches below my knee but not really mid calf), any way I was pleased to find a pair of knee boots in the porch that I had totally forgotten about and they look great with it! Though it’s sooooo cold here today that I am wearing my old uni hoody over it Grin.

shop the clothes on your school run are definitely a couple of levels above the ones on mine! No Chanel face masks round here!

Everyonelovessparkles · 02/10/2020 11:49

iPhone has annoyingly autocorrected some words in the above post (I hate it when it does that and you don’t notice until it’s too late) but hopefully you get the jist of what I meant to say!

Applefairy · 02/10/2020 12:35

Well I bared my legs here today! OOTD not c exciting. Old J Crew faded denim mini and white tee (with some blue text on it ) with leopard flat slides also J Crew (had done a hot/dark pink home pedi also). Lost a stone recently so I’m happy to be shedding the clothing layers! I’m going to miss J Crew Sad.

I see Jenna has a television show coming out soon in the US - anyone else heard about it?

I use the Trish McEvoy instant eye lift concealer too. Also have an hourglass one I bought to replace it earlier in the year - it’s very good. I’ve also like Nars and Bobbi Brown preciously. But the Hourglass I like the most (not that I have worn it since March!)

Applefairy · 02/10/2020 12:36

Sorry for all my typos !

CarolineBingley · 04/10/2020 08:55

Morning!

@Applefairy you’re making me miss J Crew now Sad. I am normally in the US several times a year and j crew is a staple stop.

@shopafrolic you actually had me googling Chanel face masks to see if they were real Grin. I got mine from Shein when dd did a shop there, hers are all funky tie dye colours and mine are great florals. Haven’t seen anyone do designer face masks on our school run but definitely funky ones.

OOTD yesterday was white layering top from Primark, a Trespass hoodie and Superdry black joggers. Pulling out all the stops Grin. I can tell that we are now in deep autumn Chez Bingley as heating was on, lots of candles being burned and a Pinot Noir at lunch instead of a Pinot Grigio. More of the same today I think!

Dreamqueen · 04/10/2020 13:35

For the first time in ages I'm happy with my ootd. I'm wearing a dark denim pinafore type dress that Stokey suggested years ago. It's a bit light because of lockdown weight gain. A boden striped top with Frye low boots. Jewellery is Cartier Un Clou in diamonds and one plain one. Taking DSs and his girl out for lunch.

I'm loving all the purchases but can't get my head around looking at stuff until I've lost some lbs.

So happy to see the MNV back up and busy.

shopafrolic · 04/10/2020 17:16

@CarolineBingley I tried to take a closer look at the Chanel face mask and it’s definitely a rip off.

Such horrible weather - I thought some of you might share my love of a chunky boot

MissKittyKitty · 04/10/2020 22:09

Will do a longer post tomorrow but just wanted to say that I saw a woman today in the gym who had your style Shop she was wearing Grensons with black skinnies/leggings and an oversized grey sweat shirt. Very simple but very effective,

I love Grensons/chunky boots on everyone else but they are just not me.

Themarvellousmrsm · 05/10/2020 08:39

I'm with you Kitty, love the chunky boot look but can't pull it off myself. Can do chunky trainers/flatforms though.

Topaz congrats on retirement; very frustrating that the travel plans are on hold-fingers crossed for 2021.

Justa I went to Bobbi Brown for help and they gave me a corrector and concealer-a great match so I repeat buy. Not sure if makeup counters are doing that at the moment though.

Caroline love both your MV purchases.

Shop I stopped watching the news months ago as it was giving me sleepless nights and I'm not a particularly anxious person. I catch up on a couple of news websites most days but it's still a shitshow!

I'm looking a knee length boots atm, will link what I order. I also did another Sweaty Betty order which arrived on Sat.

Ootd is very old black Boden Jeans, black stripe polo neck from Uniqlo and mv trainers. Very plain and boring but have a day of jobs and dog walking

shopafrolic · 06/10/2020 11:00

@MissKittyKitty sounds like my dream outfit - I always feel as though I’m a bit dull but I’m sticking with what works
@Themarvellousmrsm a shit show indeed. I should probably do the same and limit what I watch
I’m currently sat waiting for a haircut, temperature taken, mask on. Glasses are steaming up Grin
Wearing black Reiko chinos, Vera trainers and black and neon yellow Hacienda t-shirt with old beaten up black leather bomber jacket from GAP.

maradesbois · 06/10/2020 12:29

Hello!

Am a v minimal makeup person so mask/lipstick thing isn’t an issue but can understand how it could be if a strong lip is a big part of your look. The best masks I found are these linen ones, very breathable and the cut means doesn’t get in the way of seeing. I have a few different colours and one for ds too.

@Everyonelovessparkles I use Laura Mercier secret concealer for under eye plus the secret illuminating powder.

@Dreamqueen I dream of a juste un clou bracelet, you lucky lady!

We have a roof leak ☹️. Glad it got identified now due to all the rain rather than in middle of winter but is still grim. Am currently wfh surrounded by buckets waiting for the roofer to arrive and dreaming of being chez @CarolineBingley with all the candles and pinot noir!!

Had external zoom calls today so made some effort with said minimal makeup, Alighieri drop earrings and Marant print puff sleeve blouse. Absolutely love Alighieri jewellery and is within my price point as I wait for dh to gift me the Cartier Grin

Applefairy · 06/10/2020 15:50

@maradesbois linen facemasks are the best - more breathable than anything else I have tried. I took up an olive green linen dress recently and have kept the offcuts to make my own!

@Dreamqueen and @maradesbois I also have a juste un clou bracelet on my wishlist - do you think the one with diamonds around the head is more versatile than the plain one (I would go for yellow gold). I also yearn for a Tank Francaise ... maybe for my next milestone birthday....

Shocking weather where I am and my OOTD was my much loved red Karssen sweatshirt, J Crew charcoal grey gym leggings and black leather rag & bone trainers. It really has helped me in our neverending lock down to have some nice 'homeclothes'. Almost everything in my beautiful winter work wardrobe did not get worn once last season (especially the coats, the cashmere and suede knee boots/heels that I would normally wear to work/dinner, as I only wore ski jackets/parkas on our limited dog walking/park outings).

I have some chunky boots I bought earlier in the year from Top Shop. I decided they weren't right for me but forgot to return them so they have been in the back of the wardrobe. Maybe they will grow on me for our next southern hemisphere winter.

I also have some Chelsea boots from three years ago, similar to these (mine aren't furry though) - not my normal shoe style (I am very committed to my GR heels/Lanvin flats) but they are good with jeans - I might try them out in the next few days while the cold endures here.

Applefairy · 06/10/2020 15:56

One thing I would love to get for our summer here is a nice basket bag. I have looked at the Loewe/Jacquemus on Vestiare but they are not for me.

Any suggestions? I did see one in Mango but it's now sold out.

shopafrolic · 06/10/2020 19:02

@maradesbois poor you with the roof leak. I sympathise - out Grade II listed place is constantly damp / leaking somewhere although touch wood this time around we seem ok.
@Applefairy Zara had some good straw bags at the start of the summer here. Might be worth a look?
Final old colour has been cut out of my hair so I am officially fully grey with a sharp new cut. Really pleased and most people who have seen me have been really complimentary so I’m hoping it’s not too ageing.
@Everyonelovessparkles I use the LM under eye powder that Mara mentioned too - I really rate it. Before that I use the Becca illuminator pot and then Nars creamy concealer.
I have friend coming over tomorrow who wants me to help her online shop for some chunky boots having seen me in my Grensons - perhaps I should ask for commission - I’d bloody love to be a personal shopper.

shopafrolic · 06/10/2020 21:11

In skincare news - I tried this range having seen Caroline Hirons recommend it - so hydrating and seems good value for money. Would definitely recommend if you are dry or dehydrated.

MissKittyKitty · 06/10/2020 22:06

Apple I think Mara is queen of straw bags talking of queen has anyone heard from QueenC

I'm really loving the links and have a renewed interest in looking a bit more pulled together even if I'm only going to the supermarket. I think people are dressing up more to go food shopping I spotted some Chanel espadrilles in Tesco the other week.

During lockdown I didn't buy a lot, I did a basics haul from JCrew - jeans and tanks.

this Russell and Bromley Trio bag in black which I've used practically every day.

these black espadrilles am not sure if they're really me but thought I'd try them at that price.

Not a thrilling purchase but I wore them everyday I really liked the big buckle

Shop why don't you set yourself up as a personal shopper. You have a FB account, Insta etc round up some friends to take shopping, ask if you can post the experience on social media in exchange for your time. Set up a separate account under a different name people do it for cakes and other businesses so why not personal shopping? Go for it.

Lib I like the ring on the left. Is it for special occasion or everyday wear?

MissKittyKitty · 06/10/2020 22:07

Forgot to say what an amazing bag story Blair your very own bespoke bag - wow!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 07/10/2020 08:51

Thanks kitty Smile

apple was this the Mango bag you missed out on? I got it and it is a very good dupe for the Loewe. I thought I would hate having all my stuff in what is essentially a drawstring bag but it was actually fine for a holiday. Shame it is sold out now Sad

MNV Vol 88 - start of a new roaring 20's??
