Royal style: forget all your stresses as we talk royal dresses

Now. A request. Can we please keep this to critiquing the clothes rather than the wearer?

So if you want to talk about what Meghan's wearing then fine, go ahead. I'm not even saying you have to like everything she wears. This applies to all royal women - if you don't like an outfit then do feel free to say so.

But if you want to talk about "Megxit" then please go to one of the many many other MN threads about it and leave us to our clothes chatter!

Found the most perfect royal earrings
www.wildernessjewellery.com/collections/all/products/corgi-earrings

I give them to HMQ for Christmas, I bet she'd love them as they're only £6.

@TracyBeakerSoYeah

You should send them to the Queen for her birthday. I bet you’d get a nice letter back from a Lady in Waiting.

BigGreenOlives · 20/01/2020 07:09

I’ve got the peridot & blue topaz Kiki McDonagh’s, my style has changed quite a bit, hardly ever wear them at the moment as everything is so much less formal than it was 15 years ago.

NoGravyForYou · 20/01/2020 07:26

I like those earrings, they seem to be a nice way to inject colour into an outfit. Some of the prices are eye watering ( for poor old me!) for some earrings though, 4K a pop!

ElspethFlashman · 20/01/2020 10:06

I think the blue and green ones were just a loaner. We've only seen them once and they were very matchy matchy to a dress so I suspected at the time she just borrowed them for the event.

ElspethFlashman · 20/01/2020 10:08

Also I think some of them were definitely a gift from Kiki herself, who is presumably deeply grateful to Kate for making her brand so successful.

So I don't think they were all purchased, though apparently William has purchased some of them.

BlingLoving · 20/01/2020 10:21

I love the Kiki stuff but do find it odd how many many pairs Kate seems to have. I mean, we know she's not particularly adventurous, but it's just bizarre that she has basically 15 pairs of earrings that are all more or less the same in different colours or with minor changes. I guess she does it with coats so why not ear rings.

Having said that, if I had a spare £4k lying around I'd definitely be in the market for at least one pair.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/01/2020 11:38

A diversion from our usual discussion but if you're bored with waiting around for royals to wear posh frocks and rocks, here's the best gowns from last night's SAG Awards.

I bought mine years ago, she’s been popular since the late 80s. I didn’t spend anything like £4K (iirc DH went on a sporting holiday with a friend & I spent the same amount on a pair of earrings as I was left with children etc).

Two of my interests come together today. Grin Sophie (President of Girlguiding) has a birthday today. Here's a picture of Sophie, with Louise in guide uniform.

NoGravyForYou · 20/01/2020 12:34

Sophie's coat is fab.

Laiste · 20/01/2020 12:51

admits to colour coordinating quite often.

I have a navy Hobbs trench which i'll often wear over a navy skirt, navy opaques and navy heels.

It's more out of a lack of ability to know what colours to put with which so i just co-ordinate Blush

SeaRabbit · 20/01/2020 13:58

I also wear a lot of navy on navy on navy. And we all surely do for black.

I reckon William got Kate some Kiki earrings early in their relationship, which she genuinely liked, and William saw how successful they were and just kept on giving different ones, and she's now a bit fed up and would like something a bit different but can't say anything.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/01/2020 14:02

Well SeaRabbit (love your name) Kate should be thankful it wasn't a Pandora bracelet. Personally I don't mind Pandora though I do realise they're a bit Marmite.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 20/01/2020 14:05

I like full on navy, particularly French navy. I think it looks very chic.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/01/2020 14:06

I've just googled to find out what a sea rabbit is.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/api.nationalgeographic.com/distribution/public/amp/news/2015/07/150723-sea-slug-nudibranch-sea-bunny-ocean-animals-science

It's a very cute looking sea slug.
Blimey I never thought I would see the words cute & slug in the same sentence!

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/01/2020 14:16

I've somehow managed to dress from head (well, knee) to toe in purple today. I'm not sure if it looks good or if I look like a giant bruise!

OP posts:
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/01/2020 14:17

Purple is my favourite colour Queen so I'm sure you look fabulous!

TheReef · 20/01/2020 14:34

I love that all navy look on Kate Grin

FlyMayBe · 20/01/2020 14:43

I love Kate in the navy too.

Agree about the PR own goal from HMQ re Andrew at church.

Love HMQ in the trouser suit.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/01/2020 14:56

That brooch HMQ was wearing on Sunday.
Does anyone know what it's called or it's history?
Just curious to see if we can infer any hidden meaning from it Grin

But I’m not sure if there is any hidden meaning to it.

Guide salute to you Becles. Guiding is also my passion (Division Commissioner here). Grin

itswinetime · 20/01/2020 15:38

Anyone know a time for the reception at Buckingham Palace today? It isn't an evening thing is it? Are we going to be treated to some much needed glamour?

Becles · 20/01/2020 15:43

@FATEdestiny Come and join us guiding folk in the extra curricular forum. Crown Grin
