Royal style: forget all your stresses as we talk royal dresses

Previous thread

Now. A request. Can we please keep this to critiquing the clothes rather than the wearer?

So if you want to talk about what Meghan's wearing then fine, go ahead. I'm not even saying you have to like everything she wears. This applies to all royal women - if you don't like an outfit then do feel free to say so.

But if you want to talk about "Megxit" then please go to one of the many many other MN threads about it and leave us to our clothes chatter!

She has absolutely tiny legs so I imagine this is a problem. My legs have filled out as I've got older so while they're still very slim, they're actually better now with a bit more definition. The biggest benefit though is that buying boots is much easier as I had the same problem - they'd flap around and look silly and drive me mad!

@QueenOfTheAndals the ankle boot thing though continues to be more of a challenge so I feel your pain, especially as I have large feet for my height (size 39 but I'm only 5ft4). I saw a woman on the school run yesterday with a pair of quite practical looking, but attractive, ankle boots that looked narrow. Am planning to corner her next time I see her.....

Sooverthemill · 15/01/2020 09:32

Haha I came on to say how much I liked her boots today ( Meghan that is). So much so I googled and they are Le and obviously I can't afford them! I can dream of a sale! She doesn't have huge feet imo.

paradyning · 15/01/2020 09:46

The boots are Le Chameau (?sp)

paradyning · 15/01/2020 09:46

Jameson quilted boots

paradyning · 15/01/2020 09:47

Jameson quilted boots. She wore the jumper in Suits apparently.

And the jacket was Barbour. I quite liked it.

paradyning · 15/01/2020 09:50

These bloggers are amazing how the ID random jeans and scarves from seemingly thousands of identical items in such a short time.

Sooverthemill · 15/01/2020 10:04

@paradyning yes, my link totally failed to show make which I'd intended. I got there all by myself though. I would say they are very practical for Canada. And that she got them this year for their trip though DM says older. They are a new style this year.

ElspethFlashman · 15/01/2020 10:05

I bought a pair of Carvela ankle boots in the sale that seemed tighter on the ankle than expected. Disconcertingly tight, but I managed to zip them! I'm delighted with them though, will go with everything.

You skinny ankled people may find them good.

Everything up to a 5 still available half price in Littlewoods, not sure what's the story on other sites, they're called Sabel.

paradyning · 15/01/2020 10:31

Are they comfy Elspeth? I'm eyeing up some Carvelas at present!

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 15/01/2020 12:10

Like the length of this, but not sure about the colour (sludge) or chest flaps (make her look totally flat-chested somehow).

AudacityOfHope · 15/01/2020 12:18

Hmm those flaps do look odd. Yawn yawn a fitted coat.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/01/2020 12:19

Really like the proportions on Kate. That length between midi & maxi really suits her. She really should have worms gloves & boots, and probably a thicker coat in hindsight. She looks freezing

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2020 12:27

Yes she does look cold! Is that one of her St Pat's coats?

OP posts:
UrsulaPandress · 15/01/2020 12:30

I like the length of the coat. It is actually quite a pleasant day Oop North today but Kate does look cold. A nice hat and a pair of gloves wouldn't have gone amiss.

paradyning · 15/01/2020 12:31

The return of the boob flaps

paradyning · 15/01/2020 12:32

The cut of the coat is quite modern for her. But alas the flaps.
The earrings look interesting if we can see a better image.

ElspethFlashman · 15/01/2020 12:32

Yes they're incredibly comfy! Not too high, quite a practical height.

Really don't like that coat tbh. But then I haaaaaate military detailing. And that reminds me of a squaddies jacket in WW2 with the big chest flaps.

AppleKatie · 15/01/2020 12:33

I’m not a fan of the coat it looks a bit costume drama. And agree that she looks cold, either that or very stressed.

paradyning · 15/01/2020 12:33

Thanks Elspeth

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2020 12:36

There's a glimpse of what she's wearing under the coat - possibly black and shite houndstooth?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2020 12:36

White!!!

paradyning · 15/01/2020 12:37

Shite. 😂
I like her shoes and Mulberry too!

TheNavigator · 15/01/2020 12:38

I don’t get the dislike for Kate’s knee high black boots, they are very similar to Leti’s posted above which are equally as gorgeous.

It is entirely a personal taste thing - I didn't like them on Leti either. For me, the stretchy fabric upper makes the proportions all wrong. They look like a wierd hybrid of a sock and a boot - a frankenboot.
