Royal style: forget all your stresses as we talk royal dresses

Previous thread

Now. A request. Can we please keep this to critiquing the clothes rather than the wearer?

So if you want to talk about what Meghan's wearing then fine, go ahead. I'm not even saying you have to like everything she wears. This applies to all royal women - if you don't like an outfit then do feel free to say so.

But if you want to talk about "Megxit" then please go to one of the many many other MN threads about it and leave us to our clothes chatter!

I have the same problem as Meghan with boots! My knee length boots are all at least 10 years old as the ones available now are way too wide but my real problem is ankle boots. I need a new pair but my feet are size 8 so ones that size just end up massive around my ankles and look like clown shoes!

The boots with the red skirt make her feet look witchy/odd! These Stuart Weitzman boots are much better.

I love that picture of Leti MotherofPearl. The skirt is lovely and yes, I can imagine Kate in that outfit.

Inniu · 14/01/2020 22:37

I like Max’s dress but it doesn’t fit her properly and Meghans boots are way too wide.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 14/01/2020 22:42

I think those boots would have looked hideous with the tartan skirt 😱 fine with the skinnies though.

pallisers · 14/01/2020 22:51

@SenecaFalls off topic but where do you go for a good bra fitting in the US?

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/01/2020 22:53

According to Google, Meghan has size 7 feet which might explain the boots. Shoe manufacturers seem to think that if you've got big feet then you must have calves to match! But I don't know how reliable Google is - it also claims Kate is a 5.5 which is quite small for someone as tall as her.

My guess is that size 7 is an american size seven- which is a size 5 in UK.

paradyning · 15/01/2020 03:45

Kate does have small feet. There's a pic of her in one of her evening gowns that shows the size stamp on her LKB shoe

BreasticlesNotTesticles · 15/01/2020 07:41

Just dropping this pic in. Love the skirt

My problem is actually getting boots over my calves. I have to go for extra wide. I’ve always coveted the dubarrys but even the extra wide doesn’t fit. Blush it’s a shame as I’m quite petite but my calves obviously didn’t get the memo.

Thisenglishlife · 15/01/2020 07:54

Kate wears size 5, 5.5 and 6.
The biggest size she wears is in summer, as feet swell.
The LK Bennett are size 6 and the Jimmy Choo shoes are 5.5 in these photos. I think she has worn Rupert Sanderson in the 5.

Spudlet · 15/01/2020 07:54

I loved that blue skirt, it was beautiful! So gutting that it looked see-through Sad I don’t suppose it will be worn again because of that. The colours were lovely.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2020 07:55

I did wonder about that @pallisers. But I assume Kate is a U.K. 5.5 as otherwise she might topple over!

Thisenglishlife · 15/01/2020 07:56

Meghan has big feet for her height, they're definitely not UK size 5. I'd believe 6.5 or 7.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2020 07:56

Yes that was lovely @Spudlet and the pearl clutching over whether it was or wasn't see through was hilarious Grin

Not keen on the boots-like-wellies. If they fit that badly, just don't buy them. They look proper draughty! She is a beautiful woman but she was definitely at the back of the queue when giving out calves, bless.

NoGravyForYou · 15/01/2020 07:59

Meghan was seen at a women's centre in Vancouver today. Seems to be different boots than yesterday?
I like the outfit, she does casual very well. I imagine boots are probably the most practical in Vancouver right now.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2020 08:02

Wellies are definitely needed there! I think Vancouver isn't as cold as other parts of Canada but it's very wet.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/01/2020 08:02

The boots are enormous.
Maybe they are fancy wellies

She needs some big socks to come all the way up, for coziness! You can get some great ones. I have a raspberry pink pair, they are so warm I hardly wear them - but when I do I’m toasty.

latedecember1963 · 15/01/2020 08:05

Meghan looks beautiful in the blue outfit. Navy can look a bit flat, but the sheen gives it life.

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 15/01/2020 08:06

It’s snowing in Vancouver (I have a friend who lives there). So Meghan’s boots might actually be wellies. It’s unlikely they are just regular boots (or at least I wouldn’t wear regular boots in the snow).

I’m another one who has trouble finding boots that are narrow enough to fit my calves, and I agree that it has become more difficult to find anything suitable.

latedecember1963 · 15/01/2020 08:08

I think you can get wellie socks that are made to fit over the top rim of the wellies.
