I've got a ridiculous amount of unopened skincare (in a storage box) that I can't use because I've got dermatitis Sad. I had just imported something special from the US and now I have to wait until my stupid face is better. Stomping my feet!

@CherryMargo that’s impressive auditing and categorising you’ve got going on! 😃

@ememem84 thank god its BM then. If it had been anything else, I’d prob have been tempted to spend!

For anyone tempted by stuff - I feel your pain!! It’s so, so hard to stay away from shopping.

@RiskIt4Biscuit I’m always confused as to why people rave about the Hourglass palettes - what’s so good about them? Genuinely keen to know, but will prob regret asking 😃
I really, really want the Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift, but it’s £40!! (And also sold out at the only UK stockist I can find, which is prob a good thing!).

I find that the Hourglass finishing powders make my skin look blurred and glowy/lit from within.
I do think it’s quite a subtle effect, but every time I’ve used the finishing powder, I feel my skin looks better than when I have used translucent powder or Mac Mineralize skinfinish powder.

The bronzer, blushers and highlighter in the palette I have are really lovely and suit my skin tone well.

Used up a face theory clarifying cleanser (my favourite and I have 3 more tubs in the stash. Superdrug glyceric acid pads, 3 more inches pre wash treatment, bottle of micellar water, bar of dolce vivere soap.

Chucked out aqueous calomine cream, collection 2000 powder (so naff and made me look orange), dybrow box which I hadn't touched in 2 years

@tigerbear TBH those stats are just the tip of the iceberg 👀 IIRC it took me almost six weeks to create my inventory database, as I decided to go through each product I owned and learn about its ingredients, expiry date, price, brand’s animal testing policy, etc. It was tiresome 🥴 but so worth it, as it was such an eye-opener, and really helped me curb spending.

Tracking my product usage throughout the year helps me figure out how many gr/ml of product from each category I am able to use up in a calendar year, so I can plan my future purchases accordingly (if my willpower doesn’t fail me, of course 😒).

Tracking how many of my products are full of nasties and had expired before I used them up motivates me to pay closer attention to the ingredients, be less lazy with my skincare routine, and buy less overall.

Tracking the cost makes me cry gives me an idea of how much money I could spend on something more important should save up towards my future S&B purchases.

I'm back in - for about the third year in a row. I succumbed to the M&S calendar and also bought a couple of gift sets with face creams etc because they were great value and were mostly stuff I use anyway, but I do know I will end up with a few items that will join the hoard. I am making progress though. Last year I listed the items that I used up and there were 56 items used up throughout the year. And I do find that I now run out of a couple of things such as moisturiser with spf.

I have ordered £170 worth of beauty products from Look Fantastic since Boxing Day, I am literally addicted to creams, oils and serums!

I'm doing a low beauty spend year- i won't manage no spend as I don't have a big stash of basics like foundation. I do however have a ridiculous collection of makeup. I should do a full inventory but a quick count the other day revealed at least 160 lipsticks or glosses plus 2 palettes, 25 eyeshadow palettes...i don't want to think how much it cost.

Never came across the old thread but I'm definitely a beauty hoarder, and I get monthly beauty boxes delivers 😳 so it never ends. Even when I buy a new mascara I still find it hard to throw away the old one. I really need to have an audit but would need a free weekend to do it.

I have genuinely only finished one item of cream serum or oil, they’re always coming out with new ones and I can’t keep up.

I also love my beauty boxes but I wish they’d stop sending me vegan stuff, I go to LF and I haven’t edited my skin profile to say I need vegan, their products seem to smell of nothing.

Oh oh oh me please! Can I join?!

I used to have a beauty blog back in the day and was a major makeup addict.

I’ve been decluttering my makeup for about 5.5 years now and currently have a total of approximately 60ish products which is quite an achievement for me. I’ve bought a lovely storage container for them and they’re split between that and my everyday makeup bag.

My plan is not to outgrow the container and I want to reduce my collection over the course of this year to 1-2 products in each category.

I wear makeup 3 times a week on work days, never when I’m at home and I don’t go out too much. I’d say in total I wear it about 12-15 days each month so it takes me FOREVER to get through it.

Oh, additionally. Most of my makeup collection is high end with some luxury brands. I have one item from Loreal (pro glow foundation from amazon) and the rest is from Chanel, Hourglass, Nudestix, NARS, Benefit, Dior, Charlotte Tilbury, etc etc etc. As I use up all the products in one category I want to shady going back to Superdrug and Boots to replace them, especially mascaras!

Can anyone recommend good beauty organisers? More for creams than makeup though.

Thanks in advance.

@Inappropriatefemale I use the Muji drawer sets

I have got to start getting rid of stuff. Have cancelled my LF subscription, or tried to. They're saying because I cancelled on the 14/12 I've got it for another year. Should've cancelled before 02/13 apparently. So I cancelled the PayPal subscription and told them I categorically cannot afford it.

I've got a big Ikea box full of palettes, 2 sets of triple muji drawers and a little trolley on wheels. Not to mention the huge Godmôrgen mirrored bathroom cabinet that look like I have half of spacenk.

I made a start on binning old things and filled a small bin liner. Only made one (small) purchase in the sales: Kevyn Auvoun jewel palette and I don't need anything for at least 6 months now, apart from toothpaste. Bought 6 Clarins melting cleanse when I heard it was discontinued so I've got 6 months to find a replacement. Have numerous unopened mini mascaras to get through and lipsticks to last the rest of the decade!

Unfortunately I also got the Paul &Joe advent for Jadvent, so more minis. Grrr.

On leave for a fortnight now and I'm going to have a serious cleanout.

I will give those organisers a try, thanks.

I too tried to cancel my yearly subscription to the LF beauty boxes and I wasn’t able too and nowhere did it say that once I signed up for the yearly subscriptions then I had to keep up with them, except for maybe being in the small print.

Can I join? I’ve been having a good old clear out today. I threw out 4 mascaras, 3 mashed lipsticks, a few eyeliners, primers and a finished serum. Found loads of products I forgot about under a load of paperwork including a clay mask, loads of face masks, shower gels, moisturisers, 2 eyeshadow palettes amongst other stuff. My new favourite is Kat Von Ds Go Big or Go Home Mascara I’m vegan so gradually replacing all my make up with vegan stuff. High end or Primark I love it all, bought two 90p lipsticks yesterday 😀

Welcome @doloresthedonkey!!!!

@cherrymargo wow that is some analysis you have done! Great goals! We used to announce lists - like 13 by Halloween... right now we would probably be on 14 for Valentines - but whatever works for you. I definitely find being focused in my approach helps.

@livingdeadgirluk sorry, forgive my ignorance- what is MLM?

What a bollackas @Ferrisbuellersdayoff - really hope your skin gets better soon!

What is quite disconcerting is to discover that my hoarding extends to nappy creams for Kwicklet... and this is quite something as fortunately he has never really suffered from nappy rash and on the odd occasion he has done olive oil has done the trick... anyhoo I am trying to see if any friend mummies want and if not I will send to woman's shelter.

Nice to see you again @applesandpears33 👋🏼

Welcome @Mummyshark2018 !!!!

Welcome @DefinatelyAWeeGobshite !!!!

So nice to see so many new addicts! We are in good company!

Welcome @DjMomo !!!! Happy to extend to sock hoarding?

Welcome @sweetkitty !!!!

I have an empty:

  • Alpha-H cleanser: was in advent, meh... ok and non-drying but I am sure is quite expensive and there are loads of cleansers I prefer that are cheaper

MLM is multi level marketing a lot of people know Youniqe or Airbornne but Body shop also use this model for their 'Body Shop at home' reps. Its a business model that is based on pyramid schemes and actual reps are very unlikely to be able to make a living from it. Totally unethical.

@livingdeadgirluk thanks for clarifying! I did not know this!! Bastardos!

I feel good that I have finally made a start on a White Company candle that was given to me as a gift when Kwicklet was born!!! I have a terrible habit of storing gifts like this and not using them - the new me does not want to fall foul of this no more!

I know that cluttering is a totally different thread but I too have a whole bag full of scented candles that I just don't use because I have a fear of leaving candles burning and destroying the house... the beauty products are such a small part of my minor hoarding tendencies (lets not even get started on the clothes wedged into every cupboard and draw...)

Used up two advent calendar products today, an origins clay mask and living proof hair treatment. My hair feels nice and bouncy
