New Year, new thread!!!! Continuing the great work already started!!!

This thread is for those that LOVE beauty products... so much so they hoard them, and covet them and behold the beauty that they contain 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Would also like to know about the beauty pie productsCrown Grin

Being by Sanctuary salted caramel & macadamia bubble bath- lovely warm winter scent for me. Even better with the matching body butter which im still working through!

Nivea body lotion (white bottle) - bought this thinking it was just going to be abit boring and wouldnt excite me. Was really moisturing and sinks in fast. Perfect for morning when in a rush!

CantChoose · 21/01/2020 13:42

That Sanctuary stuff sounds right up my street @Caggie09 - that’s the trouble with this thread, I’m not sure if it helps or hinders Grin

Empty no. 3 🚮

Boots Time Delay Anti-Ageing Wrinkle Reducing Eye Cream (15 ml), full of parabens and mineral oil (yuck!), expired back in March 2017 🤢 I hated using it, that’s why it took me so long.

From day one (i.e. when it was still fresh) it was a very runny, light pink cream with unpleasant, chemical smell. Due to a huge amount of mica, it never fully absorbed and was VERY visible on my skin. And a cherry on top – it made my eyes itch.

I paid £12 for it, and would never buy it again, but it was discontinued anyway (and rightfully so!).

A total number of products left in the eye cream category: 3 foil sachets, 1 deluxe sample and 3 full-size products.

@Elloello some people follow the expiry dates religiously (checking the manufacture dates helps a lot, too), some wait for noticeable signs of expiration to show (changes in colour, scent, texture). I think a lot depends on the quality of preservatives used in the product and where/how you store it.

Personally, I find it extremely painful to let my stuff go, and just like you I have products which have been sitting in my drawers for years. My message above is a sad evidence of that 😟

RiskIt4Biscuit · 22/01/2020 09:22

I generally think that a product is fine unless it has changed texture, colour, smell or doesn't do what it used to.
A few exceptions would be spf, eyeliner and mascara. I can't think of more at the moment.

I have decided I don't want to punish myself twice for having bought a crappy product by forcing myself to use it up. I am not going to feel better using up a product that doesn't work or that I hate using - it will just annoy me every time I use the product and what's the point of that?

I've finished a 10ml hand cream from Rituals. A freebie I was handed in Bicester Village as I walked past their store a few months ago.
It's the ritual of Dao night balm, and I really liked this one. The scent is very nice (but strong) and it works very well.
I am not going to repurchase as I have loads of hand creams.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 22/01/2020 11:54

3 empties today: mini Sisley primer. Lovely but too spendy, Clarins Hydro-essential sorbet. Going to replace this as it's great. And Clarins Radiance booster drop things, already replaces.

Oh my goodness, I have just read from the start of this thread....can not believe we started way back on 2015... where does the time go?!

I have a few recent empties: a small tube of Philip Kingsley Hair Elasticised ( from a beauty box, wouldn't purchase on its own); a full size loccitane lime shea butter handcream ( love it, have two or three different scents in the stash) and a couple of mascaras that had been open for well over a year. Loved the Tarte man-eater one but i have so many mascaras stashed that it was time to let it go.

Oh and an elemis facial oil. Loved it and it didn't make my skin itch so will use again.

Since the start of these threads many moons ago I definitely have a more mindful attitude to consumption of stuff, and I did a big clear out to The Hygiene Bank at Xmas, but I still have more than I will ever use. My downfall is that once stuff comes into the house, it takes so long to use up and it only takes a small slip up and then Boom, the stash has grown. The one thing i no longer buy is eyeshadow palettes as I have so many, several unopened, and they are neverending! ConfusedBlush

Caggie09 · 22/01/2020 20:48

@CantChoose, im sure its discontinued now, so it should hinder that for you!😂

Eylure Dyebrow and Dyelash kits. Think ill stop buying these and get them done professionally, could do with them being darker. Im not risking doing it too dark, ill look very strange if i do😂

Next Nude 30ml perfume, good for throwing in the handbag and using on the run. Didnt Wow me, wouldnt repurchase

LizziesTwin · 22/01/2020 21:36

Finished Aveda Cherry Almond softening shampoo & conditioner (from 2019’s Liberty Advent Calendar).

ememem84 · 22/01/2020 21:51

@CherryMargo I find that if I don’t like something on my face I use it elsewhere. I had a st ives apricot scrub a while ago which broke me out. So used it on my body and feet instead. Much quicker to use up.

CherryMargo · 22/01/2020 23:53

@IPokeBadgers I’m so glad the discussion is still going strong! 💪 It motivates me so much!

@RiskIt4Biscuit I am indeed punishing myself for wasting my tiny income on bad products (especially if I paid a lot!) 😢 I say to myself ‘it is my fault, I should have researched better, I should have resisted the marketing tricks, I shouldn’t have bought so much’, etc. I wish one day I’ll have a healthy relationship with my stash, and stop ‘hate panning’.

@ememem84 good point! 👍 Now that I am thinking about it, I could use that eye cream as a liquid highlighter, as it had SO MUCH mica in it! Its light pink shade would look fine on my pale winter skin.

tigerbear · 23/01/2020 09:22

Oh dear, I have sinned again this week, following the duty free splurge of last week! 😬
BUT this was too good not to (enable alert):
I had £20 gift voucher for M&S so had a look in their beauty and skincare section.
That night cream everyone raves about from their own line - Absolute Sleep Cream was £23 a pot, but TWO pots for only £30!!
So I reckoned using my £20 voucher and spending only £10 on two pots was too good to miss.
Happy to report that it actually works! I haven’t had much sleep the last few nights, and my skin has looked decent after using the cream. Yay!

Caggie09 · 23/01/2020 20:32

Lush Snow Fairy bubble bar. I love these, and its always a nice bath. Might buy some of the valentines bits next month. Even though i have plenty of bath things!!

Experiment627 · 24/01/2020 00:16

Welcome @Elloello !!!! Sounds like the pads are too harsh, maybe try on feet and if still no good, chuck.

@tigerbear I am a massive fan of the M&S night cream... feel like I should stock up!!!!!

@IPokeBadgers we have indeed been going strong since 2015 - that was when I started my TTC journey and I needed something to keep the spirits up so I looked for solace in beauty products and this thread Grin

tigerbear · 24/01/2020 15:15

@Experiment627 i noticed it’s out of stock online, so I guess everyone is stocking up!

I have a dilemma - prob one of the few things I’ve nearly run out of really quickly is Paula’s Choice BHA Exfoliating Liquid was bought before Christmas, and I’m nearly through the bottle.
It’s turned out to be an HG product but at £31 it’s really expensive.
I’m sure someone else on here recommended cheaper dupe, but can’t remember who/what it was. Maybe Vichy??
If anyone has any suggestions, would be most grateful.

ememem84 · 24/01/2020 21:58

Oooh. I want to try the M&S night cream. But don’t actually think they sell the beauty products in our one here. Are they just dotted about or is there a specific section?

tigerbear · 24/01/2020 22:42

@ememem84 in the larger stores there are usually large beauty sections. Even in the smaller ones, they should have their own line as standard.

Experiment627 · 25/01/2020 06:37

@tigerbear I feel that way about the Murad AHA/BHA cleanser I got in one of my advents - it is so good and when it finishes I may just have to fork out as I think it is HG now for me....
I really like the Loreal Age Perfect cleanser - really cheap and contains salycilic acid so good to mildly exfoliate too.

@emememe my nearby M&S is a Foodhall one so no beauty products there (thank God!!!!) but I can do click and collect. I did not even look online though as have a lot of creams in my stash to get through first.

Costacoffeeplease · 25/01/2020 12:16

Bit of a pamper this morning. Skyn firming eye gels and a rodial vit c energising face mask. Both seem to be an improvement

Also used up the perfume from last year’s liberty calendar and a full size Elizabeth Arden Green Tea perfume too

Have found a stash of face and eye masks hidden behind everything else so will try and use them weekly

Costacoffeeplease · 25/01/2020 12:58

Plus Estée Lauder advanced night repair, which is lovey but spendy!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 25/01/2020 20:37

I think I have to bin (or back2mac) my mac patisserie lipstick as I can't tell if it is bloom or mold on it :(

CherryMargo · 25/01/2020 21:12

Empty no. 4 🚮

A foil sachet of Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex (0.5 ml) which I received as GWP in November 2019. It is a thick gel, but it doesn’t take long to absorb; smells of nail polish (or am I hallucinating? 😵), but fortunately the scent is very subtle. A little goes a long way – 0.5 ml was enough for three applications.

I’m on the fence about buying a full-size jar: people rave about it but my tiny sample was used up before I saw any results. Has anyone here used it? What is your opinion?
