Fancy being a Goddess for 2020?

Pinkarsedfly · 01/01/2020 11:08

Bear with me. I’m 45, size 14, about as far from a Goddess as you could possibly imagine.

But...I read a comment from a MNer on one of these boards a few months back, I think it was on a thread about stopping overeating, and it’s really stuck with me. The OP was asking how she could stop bingeing on crap, and a pp said something like, ‘Eating good food in the right amount is more goddess-like. Treat yourself like a Goddess.’

I really liked that. It stuck with me. I like the idea of channelling an innner goddess much more than princessing. So I thought I’d start a thread of ideas about how to be a goddess for 2020.

So far I’ve thought of:

Take regular exercise - not in a sweaty gym, but running outside, yoga, stretching etc. Good for the mind as well as the body.

Eat well, and not too much. There’s not much goddess-like about shoving your hand down a tube of Pringles and getting crumbs down your front.

Drink more water.

Looking after skin, maybe use natural products?

Be creative and try to use more positive self-talk?

I don’t know if I’m barking up the wrong tree, but I’m feeling my way towards treating myself better and hoping it has a knock-on effect.

Any other potential goddesses out there with more ideas?

Hello! I had a shower, then breakfast and remembered to take my vitamins this morning. Now I'm off to work, but later I intend to paint my nails too Smile

BlueSkies2020 · 08/01/2020 09:18

Agree that Chanel nail varnishes are shite

I had a good evening filling out my planner. Excited for the year ahead and got more sleep last night so might actually have the energy to be a goddess Wink

itallwentwrongat30 · 08/01/2020 09:36

can someone please link the journal???

BagathaBhristie · 08/01/2020 11:24

Good morning goddesses - I've been to the gym this morning and have had a v tasty/filling/nutritious breakfast.

Am now battling my tendency to procrastinate - goddesses do not self sabotage.

Pinkarsedfly · 08/01/2020 12:44

this is mine, itallwentwrong

Fivefourthree · 08/01/2020 13:33

Me too Carriemac! The stone not the 2lb Blush
Do goddesses join slimming world??

BlueSkies2020 · 08/01/2020 13:40

@itallwentwrongat30 I have the same planner that @Pinkarsedfly linked to. The soft cover version is available on Amazon Prime for £18

NeonFlamingos · 08/01/2020 13:57

@Werking thanks for your well wishes! Started my new job and although it was a shock to the system, I think it's going to be great. Kept thinking of being serene throughout the day and it really helped.

Today I bought myself some truffles and aim to have a few each night to satisfy my sweet tooth - rather than scoff a huge lump of chocolate/crisps/anything I can find floating in the kitchen depths. Also picked up some beautiful flowers for my kitchen.

I also reached out to my cousin who've I've not heard from in a while. We've ended up having a lovely conversation which lifted my Goddess Spirit. My new book, 'The Untethered Soul' arrived yesterday and I aim to get started on that tonight.

Hope everyone is having a day full of goddess moments!

Pinkarsedfly · 08/01/2020 15:17

Fivefourthree this has one lost a stone and a half there up to now.

My first day back at work too. I resisted the urge to scoff the shortbread and Quality Street left over from Xmas as I knew that was entirely unGoddess like. Instead, I drank 2 litres of water and made myself a v.low carb lunch bowl of two hard boiled eggs, mixed into a tin of tuna with a dollop of mayo. Have also joined the Low Carb boot camp on here too. We go on holiday in exactly five weeks so would love to drop at least 10lbs by then.

Pinkarsedfly · 08/01/2020 18:10

Well, first day back at work went well.

Then I came home and ran 5k on the treadmill.

Now I’m cooking a healthy seafood pasta with Mediterranean veggies - and no wine!

Feeling the Goddess vibes!

Tis difficult to be a Goddess with a snotty nose . Normal service will hopefully be resumed in a day or two as I need to recline under a blanket with herbal tea and chocolate rather than do yoga and eat salad.

Love51 · 08/01/2020 18:54

I have an issue with binging on sweet food (I'm aware this doesn't make me unique!)
So, I've started tracking sugar free days. I'm aiming for 300 sugar free days over the year. I'm also being more consistent with exercise and planning for days when husband is away so I can still exercise.

Since starting goddessing, I've had lots of compliments at work, including have I had a makeover, I can carry off a coat (?!?) And someone likes my makeup. I also got asked yesterday if I'd been to an interview! Odd compliments but clearly the changes have made a noticeable difference.

Doilooklikeatourist · 08/01/2020 18:55

First day back at work done and I am exhausted
Just had a pork chop with creamy spinach and broccoli , and starting to feel a little more human
Complexion is looking better ( I think , and I’m very self critical ) due to the fact that DD bought me some of the oils of youth skincare for Christmas
Having a couple of glasses of water In preparation for LC Bootcamp ( water , water , water ) and might have a bit of brownie ( on a plate ) later as it needs to be out of the house 👍

Pinkarsedfly · 08/01/2020 21:30

Love51 it’s great that others are noticing your Goddessness!

DS2 woke up at 5.20 this morning but this did mean I got in a MUTU intensive session before work, plus 2k walk from car to office and MUTU core session. Also drunk 2l of water and had 7 portions of fruit and veg.

Clothes and lunch sorted for tomorrow.

Also, today I pushed to take the lead on a new project. Have felt sidelined since returning from mat leave. Am going to read 'how to be a badass' after I finished my book club read!

PhoenixMama · 09/01/2020 09:19

Yesterday I was dealing with a frustrating situation and so I took a step back & asked myself what a Goddess would do... Then sent a very friendly email to the company & they went above & beyond to help & sorted it perfectly! I'd taken a different tact on the phone so definitely goddessing working.

I also went into London to the Vidal Sassoon Academy & got an amazing new haircut, all for only £3 (regular is £6 but I'm a student!) Feel all swishy & goddessy!

BiBiBirdie · 09/01/2020 10:07

Morning Goddesses
Have been doing well this far. Am stupidly tired down to cutting back my coffee intake and swapping fizzy drinks for water and orange juice.
I'm not missing sweets and crisps really though. Early days however!
I've just started my period though and that's peak "eat crap" time so I'm struggling a little today.
I'm sleeping better though and that's nice as my sleep has been appalling for years.
Had one victory- my partner and I usually go and have a cafe breakfast on Tuesday mornings, I swerved it and had one of my alloted coffees while he had his fry up. Luckily it wasn't at our usual place as it's being returned and the one he had looked rank actually so I wasn't as jealous as I may have been

Fivefourthree · 09/01/2020 10:12

I'm impressed and inspired by all the goddesses on here.
Am still working on upping my game. Make up on, two days in a row (and also taken off again properly!)
Forgot my vitamins this morning though...

thebabessavedme · 09/01/2020 14:28

hello fellow goddesses - having a goddess like slow day today, all jobs done, including mending a shirt I intend to wear out this evening when I go to dinner with some girlfriends, I have also had a go at mixing and matching my spring/summer clothes out on the bed, I was quite pleased with the result, with a little thought I can mix stuff up into several 'different' outfits, thus saving money Grin

Magnificentbeast · 09/01/2020 14:51

I love this thread OP.

I have very recently started working on my 'Goddess' posture. I'm the same age & size as you and have noticed that my shoulders have become quite rounded and hunched. Not a great look - quite ageing in fact. Now I've become more 'mindful' of it I can feel how much I've let my posture go. I'm only short. I can't afford to lose more height!

I've started 30 days of yoga to get in the habit and I'm trying to be more aware of what I'm eating and whether I'm actually hungry rather than eating by the clock.

Good luck OP!

2020nymph · 09/01/2020 23:05

My posture is awful @Magnificentbeast, definitely something I need to work on.

Been more hoggess then goddess today.

Not so good.
Work was crazy busy so couldn't go for my lunchtime run as planned
Ended up working an extra three hours
Binged on chocolate, two large cookies and a flapjack

Good
All the important tasks have been ticked off my work to do list
And some from my personal to do list
Walked 2k
Complete MUTU core
Drank 2l of water
Ate five portions of fruit and veg

Doilooklikeatourist · 10/01/2020 07:34

Good morning Grace of Goddess Team
Some of my resolutions are working ( eat more colour , more water , more moisturiser ) the others , not so well

I want to go to bed early , and read , but the tv programmes I want to watch start at 9 , so that’s not going to plan

Nails are looking good , as I have a new habit of checking the shape , and piling on the handcream every evening , working in a cafe I can’t paint them , that’s one of my chief ambitions for when I retire !

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 10/01/2020 07:34

Morning goddesses, is there room in the Grace for one more?

I caught up on the thread last night and would love to join you all.
I've lost my way a bit over the last few years since having DC and am now on a journey to getting myself back again.
I'm gently getting back to being active by walking with DD every day and treating my body with a bit more respect and love.

For me the goddess mindset also means living more mindfully and being more gentle with my children. They're lovely but they're such hard work at the moment and I'm not as nice to them as I should be!

I know exactly what you mean about posture @Magnificentbeast, I'm focused on it at the moment and I already feel like I'm moving a bit more gracefully!
