Fancy being a Goddess for 2020?

Bear with me. I’m 45, size 14, about as far from a Goddess as you could possibly imagine.

But...I read a comment from a MNer on one of these boards a few months back, I think it was on a thread about stopping overeating, and it’s really stuck with me. The OP was asking how she could stop bingeing on crap, and a pp said something like, ‘Eating good food in the right amount is more goddess-like. Treat yourself like a Goddess.’

I really liked that. It stuck with me. I like the idea of channelling an innner goddess much more than princessing. So I thought I’d start a thread of ideas about how to be a goddess for 2020.

So far I’ve thought of:

Take regular exercise - not in a sweaty gym, but running outside, yoga, stretching etc. Good for the mind as well as the body.

Eat well, and not too much. There’s not much goddess-like about shoving your hand down a tube of Pringles and getting crumbs down your front.

Drink more water.

Looking after skin, maybe use natural products?

Be creative and try to use more positive self-talk?

I don’t know if I’m barking up the wrong tree, but I’m feeling my way towards treating myself better and hoping it has a knock-on effect.

Any other potential goddesses out there with more ideas?

So far today my goddessing has included

  • lighting a beautiful candle (that I was saving for best)
  • wearing my yoga balm ( again saving l for who knows what!)
  • 15 minutes of yoga enjoying balm and candle
  • full skincare and shower (not rushed as usual)
  • some make up and perfume (don't normally bother at weekends)

Afternoon Goddesses
Dying of tiredness here as both DC's have the terrible barking cough (not actual medical name) so was up getting cough medicine and drinks and cuddles.
Have gone a few more coffees than I want to but hey ho, busy day.
Had an appalling day yesterday and so did have a medicinal bar of Aero. Wedding dress turned up from eBay an utter state and nowhere near what was described. Was in tears and felt silly for being so afterwards. Seems it may be salvageable as it does actually fit bar my broad shoulders meaning I need to alter the modesty panel that sits under the corsetry. But it will seriously need dry cleaning and some repair work. I did get a refund as when I messaged the seller she got arsey but immediately actioned a full refund when I was simply going to ask for her to cover possible damage repair and cleaning costs. So not so bad as can use that to sort it.
But saved money today as was quoted £300 for flowers for our church (eek) but church does them for £50.
Need a very good night's sleep but going to my new regular Sunday activity of church in the morning and that leaves me with a real sense of warmth and calm for the week. I've also met some lovely people there who I had never met in the community and probably wouldn't have done.

The heartburn could be from stress, AnnieJ1985, but I'm fairly sure the initial cause was the severe vomiting I had over Christmas & new year, when I had a few bad migraines in a row. Must remember to try to sip lots of water in future.

We've seen the homeless shelter - it's actually a lot nicer than we were expecting, we'll have our own tiny flat (as opposed to the accommodation being single-sex dormitory style with communal facilities). Seems clean & the only communal facility is the laundry room. Picking the key up on Monday. So DH & DD seem much less worried about it now. We're now into the mad packing phase - stressful, but definitely superceded by the mad cleaning phase.

I have already packed all my favourite skincare stuff to take with us. Priorities. Wink

I am certain that goddesses say ass. "I fell on my ass." "What an ass." "My fat ass you will." (The last one to be used when someone absolutely promises they will do something that you know they have absolutely no intention of doing, & they're fooling nobody.) All to be used in a serene, lofty manner. Standards, after all, must be maintained.

BiBiBirdie - hope you do manage to get the dress sorted. It's good that you got a refund (from your post it sounds like you still kept the dress?) So hopefully it'll work out ok. DH & I got married on a budget & I remember the feeling of thinking that the costs were just never going to end.

Flowers to everyone who's not feeling especially divine, hope you feel better soon.

Good afternoon goddesses 💐 hope you're all well.

Ill health has meant I have fallen off the goddess wagon in a bid to keep everything else going.

@AwdBovril Hope everything is ok in the shelter.

@BiBiBirdie hope your dress is sorted now.
