Help me choose an amazing dress

I 'may' be having a significant birthday soon. I was hoping to get a dress made but two local dressmakers have proven useless, so might want to buy one instead.

I'm size 14, used to be hourglass but now a bit rounder, busty. I'm very fussy! I want something that feels dressy but could equally well just be worn with ankle boots and a biker jacket to the pub. Would prefer it to have at least short sleeves, and not be polyester. Black or red probably my best colours, or maybe a dark print.

Budget up to about £200 for something really amazing.

Thanks anyway, Falalala.

Those Nancy Mac dresses are so beautiful. I want them all, and the lifestyle to wear them - maybe with wellies, in the grounds of my country house.

I don't think people are trying to act sensible and civilised @multivac. I just don't think you were being very nice and the OP quite rightly didn't want to waste her time replying to you when there are so many helpful comments.

Mars - thanks. Will have a proper look at the rest of the All Saints site.

I would wear this everyday if I were queen

cultmaskid · 27/12/2019 21:42

@CremeDeSudo love both of those

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/12/2019 21:43

Xing - you're so right re the need for cool but flattering dresses for older women. There seems so little out there.

Cheers, Pinkyy.

akittencalledjesus · 27/12/2019 21:48

Are you ok with viscose?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/12/2019 21:48

Sprouts - I think you should get it and just wear it to Tesco/work/wherever, if it would suit your colouring. It's so pretty!

Any of these? I shouldn’t come to style and beauty.. I end up spending money I don’t need to 😩

Screw - 'blessed' isn't the word I'd use for my 34Fs!

I like that Hush one but their viscose creases so badly. I've got a black shirt dress from them and it looks like a rag after half an hour.

OOh I like that MD one.

And I like your name, SexlessBoulderBelly but I'm sure you're not! Grin

Apologies if I've missed this suggestion elsewhere OP, but given that you love lots of dresses but wish they had sleeves, could you "add" them with something like this?

Poly but maybe worth a try? I really like it and would never have looked in Ted Baker without this thread

Creme - I like nearly all of yours but they're the sort of thing I already have quite a few of for work.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie ha! Thank you, I’m going to try and shift the Boulder after my c section on Tuesday... but I’m sure I’ll still be sexless for a little while😅

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/12/2019 22:00

I like the 3rd one, Kitten.

Sexless - good luck next week. xx

Sorry I have a horrible computer at the moment which wont do any links but I remembered a Spanish company I used to like (AdolphoDominguez) and they have a really simple swirly mididress with sleeves and v neck and an easy waist knot detail that's just so plain and perfect you could wear it everywhere, on sale for 115euros. Please look. It's not edgy just really wearable. But I can't cut and paste a link.... it's in the knitwear section but you have to scroll past the sparkly ones. In black or bronze.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/12/2019 22:01

Obviously poly but rather lovely. Would look great with a biker jacket.
