Help me choose an amazing dress

I 'may' be having a significant birthday soon. I was hoping to get a dress made but two local dressmakers have proven useless, so might want to buy one instead.

I'm size 14, used to be hourglass but now a bit rounder, busty. I'm very fussy! I want something that feels dressy but could equally well just be worn with ankle boots and a biker jacket to the pub. Would prefer it to have at least short sleeves, and not be polyester. Black or red probably my best colours, or maybe a dark print.

Budget up to about £200 for something really amazing.

I think this is lovely but possibly too long if you are 5’2

Oh I like BikeskiRuns whistles black dress. I already have an order in for whistles and have bought a lot in the sales so I shouldn’t really buy anything else.

I know you’ve spent the budget really but just wanted to post this one.
I used to really like Day Birger et Mikkelsen and have a fab vintage silk dressing gown style dress that I will get into one day.

BigFatBloomers · 31/12/2019 23:32

And a few from eBay
All Saints red
All Saints black
All Saints emerald (apparently)
Day Birger Et Mikkelsen silk
VW cotton

I think I've read the full thread but I don't think anyone has suggested Kemi Telford? After a night out in a lovely but polyester-sweaty maxi dress one of her skirts is def on my list.

Hoolajerry _ coincidentally I tried that green Cos one on the other day. I really liked it but it did look a bit institutional and I'd have preferred a lower neckline. It's a great dress though.

BikeRunSki

That Whistles one is fab and you might have won the thread! I will try it on and report back. And would definitely wear trainers with it, or heeled bike boots.

Trying to check all the other links now. Thanks to everyone who's posted.

Happy New Year @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

I have a significant birthday towards the end of this year. Possibly the same one. I’ll be looking for a dress in time to come.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2020 14:19

Plenty of time to save up for a Westwood the, Bike! This beauty

Do I like anything I’d wear Remus! I’m working on getting back into a 14, the I’ll start looking. I’ve “temporarily slipped” into a 16 for a bit longer than intended now!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2020 23:27

Thanks, Tiger and Toast. I don't think I want a midi dress though.

Which is your favourite, Myrtle? I'm still drooling over a couple of them!

This in the sale is very tempting and I love the jumpsuits! Have leaned towards everyday/work wear rather than evening stuff!

Not that i actually glide round at work in £200 dresses - I think I meant more multi-purpose wear! 😯

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/01/2020 00:23

Imagine being able to swan around in beautiful expensive dresses all day every day!

Tulips - I like that velvet one but do worry that velvet only works at Christmas and new year.

Ok, can people please stop linking to gorgeous Nancy Mac creations? I'm supposed to be saving for a new oven.
