Help me choose an amazing dress

I 'may' be having a significant birthday soon. I was hoping to get a dress made but two local dressmakers have proven useless, so might want to buy one instead.

I'm size 14, used to be hourglass but now a bit rounder, busty. I'm very fussy! I want something that feels dressy but could equally well just be worn with ankle boots and a biker jacket to the pub. Would prefer it to have at least short sleeves, and not be polyester. Black or red probably my best colours, or maybe a dark print.

Budget up to about £200 for something really amazing.

MtotheG · 31/12/2019 16:23

I think you need to do a post with your updated criteria all listed OP Wink

Best of all worlds...fitted and flouncy...too daring? I love it!

Don't like any of the latest ones, sorry.

I'm little and round and old. Anything too fashion forward, like that flouncy black thing, would be horrific on me.

Updated requirements are black or dark print, mini or shortish, sleeves, not too high a neck, not poly or that horrible scratchy viscose. Jersey would be fine. The ideal would be a silk mix. It probably doesn't exist.

The perfume is Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume. It's absolutely gorgeous.

And you’ve got big norks OP I think? (Like me.)

NomDeQwerty · 31/12/2019 17:54

I'm little and round and old
That's so not what you look like in my head Remus🤣

MtotheG · 31/12/2019 17:57

Reason I’m asking about your norkage is to see if this website applies: St Bustier
This dress is viscose jersey. Good price.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2019 17:58

Non {grin} - well, not round exactly but definitely more round than I used to be.

Yes to norks (spellcheck just changed norks to Boris!!!) - 34FF these days

No to all of the latest ones. Just can't get enthusiastic about blue or about normal LBD type.

I like that Mto but it's the sort of thing I'd wear to work.

Yes I agree it’s workish.

This one? Not workish. Silk. Stunning. You might want something more fitted though.

LeithWalk · 31/12/2019 18:05

Mto - I followed your link - I like this - lovely close up, with the two colours - but maybe the fabric prevents Remus?

MtotheG · 31/12/2019 18:11

This one? Black leopard print but you have to look close to see the print.

MtotheG · 31/12/2019 18:14

@LeithWalk I’ve gone link happy so which dress do you mean - the St Bustier one? If so it’s a jersey viscose which I think Remus said was ok.

BikeRunSki · 31/12/2019 18:15

mini, black, cotton jersey. I’d wear it with those Paul Smith trainers you bought!!

MtotheG · 31/12/2019 18:18

Or this one. Not entirely sure of the material and £46 over budget.
