How can anyone get a "Fuck off" from the Sussex card? I think it's delightful. Archie is the cutest.

peridito · 24/12/2019 09:08

Having looked at the link ( DM) for The Yorks Christmas card ,I'm confused .Are there 3 versions all with different images ,dogs rear end ,road ,and something else that I've already forgotten Blush

Spudlet · 24/12/2019 09:09

I mean given a choice between Andrew and a dog’s arse, I’ll take the dog every time...

Spudlet · 24/12/2019 09:11

The Cambridge one is cute though. As is the Sussex one.

On one of the several Sussex cards dissection threads, someone was moaning that Archie and Meghan were both in focus while Harry was not... I ask you Xmas Confused

beanaseireann · 24/12/2019 09:14

The Yorks card is ghastly.

vivacian · 24/12/2019 09:22

The York's card very clearly shows what they think of their position and the country. I think it's pretty disgraceful.

I'd always presumed that the royals saw themselves in position at the will of the people, and they'd go quietly if public opinion deemed it so. That image of the Queen with the photos on her desk makes me question my belief.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 24/12/2019 09:24

Sorry I didn’t mean the card was meant to send that message. I meant the fact that they’re happy and relaxed and having a great time with Meghans friends in another country sends the message that they’re much happier there. I’m sure they didn’t mean to send that message necessarily but that’s what I take from it. It’s a lovely happy card.

Spudlet · 24/12/2019 09:32

Skipping back a bit in the thread, but those old Norman Parkinson pics are odd. They all look like they’re wearing extremely posh versions of a hairdresser’s protective gown Xmas Confused

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/12/2019 09:32

On the news they’re saying Andrew will still come to Church on Xmas day. ( only if he’s wearing a sign saying shame) .
That dog’s arse card is awful,

Speculation that Charlotte & George Will do the Xmas walk.
It’s in line with the continuity / slimmed down rf pr

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/12/2019 09:36

Just watching the royal year in review on the news.
Lovely to resee Harry talking about the birth of Archie.

Charles eye rolling at Trump. He really doesn’t like him.

BlingLoving · 24/12/2019 09:40

The queens continual support for andrew as a mother is understandable but doesn't work well. I think they consider the church walk at Christmas a personal/family event rather than an official one even though it's done in public. On which basis Andrew probably will be there. But suspect he will scuttle off so as not to be glad handing the public! because they might pelt him with eggs

beanaseireann · 24/12/2019 09:43

I thought it was a bit sad and odd that the very elderly Duke of Edinburgh didn't have a family member with him leaving hospital- surely one of the dc or dgc could have pitched up. He is frail and "shook" looking. I know in most families a relative would not be brought home with just minders/ police protection.
Perhaps I'm wrong and didnt see enough on the tv clip and there was actually a family member there.

frugalkitty · 24/12/2019 09:48

I like the Sussex card, I have a wonderful photo of my three with the youngest doing exactly what Archie is doing.....he didn't crawl on all fours, looked more like a wounded soldier dragging himself across the ground, and every time we lined the three of them up he'd got out of line! Very natural though. Anyway, H&M look happy enough and I agree with the poster up thread that there will be an additional one in next years card.

We celebrate our family Christmas today but my dad has been taken desperately ill in the last couple of days, so plans have been tweaked and I'm popping in and out of my parents house (brothers too, we all live close by) so although everything is being kept as normal as possible for the children it doesn't feel much like the season of joy here for me. Still, there's a dinner to be cooked for tonight and champagne in the fridge so I'll take this chance to thank you all for a wonderful thread, and wherever you are and however you celebrate I'd like to wish you all a truly Happy Christmas Xmas Smile

Love the Sussex card - Archie is so cute
Love the Cambridge card - lovely family photo
Love the Wales card - great picture of C&C in the sports car

The York "dog bum" card is just ...... bizarre totally tasteless

As for the DOE I can see him demanding "no fuss" and wanting family to be ready at Sandringham

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/12/2019 09:55

Oh @frugalkitty I hope you dad makes a speedy recovery.
( don’t forget a glass of champers for HH. Must be hot in that airing cupboard)

SunsetBoulevard3 · 24/12/2019 10:04

I think it just wouldn’t serve any purpose for any of the family to appear with the D of E. it would attract more press attention, drag whoever it was away from Sandringham and make ‘fuss’. Men of his generation don’t like fuss. They also don’t like to be seen when they are ill.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 24/12/2019 10:06

I notice lots of presents on the back seat though!!

SunsetBoulevard3 · 24/12/2019 10:07

@frugalkitty 💐
Hope your dad gets better soon.

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 24/12/2019 10:17

Sorry to hear about your dad, @frugalkitty. Hoping having family around will lift his spirits and speed his recovery, and you can all enjoy the time together. Thanks

Spudlet · 24/12/2019 10:22

Best wishes for your dad, frugal. Hope he is soon on the mend.

Happy Christmas to all, may Santa bring us all a sparkly tiara and someone else to do the washing up Crown Wink

BlingLoving · 24/12/2019 10:23

Sorry to hear about your Dad frugalkitty. Hope you can get some good family christmas time in even with all the worry.

I am now completely comfortable with Philip bein alone. Partly because I think it's what he would want and partly because I think the fuss that would be made if anyone else turned up. And for men of his generation, accepting help from retainers probably easier than from family.

itswinetime · 24/12/2019 10:23

I think the press is right I think Andrew will be there but I think it's a mistake on behalf of the queen/whole family. All this focus on the direct line of succession forget the others will go out the window if he is there especially after that card! I'm guessing the dog bum isn't the front of the card?

George will definitely walk this year I guess it makes sense for Charlotte to start as well.

itswinetime · 24/12/2019 10:25

Sorry about your dad frugal flowers] and Wine for you!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 24/12/2019 11:02

Wish your dad better Frugal

paradyning · 24/12/2019 11:28

I really like e the Sussex and Cambridge and Wales cards are just lovely photos.
Sick of all the PR and political bollocks with queenie's photos and York card. (Yes I know it's all PR)
