That clip suggests he’s never even seen someone iron. I thought you had to iron your own stuff in the army/navy?

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/12/2019 11:12

Even if he did that's going back a good 50 years since he last picked up an iron!

Totally love Sophie’s hat. She does do great headgear. Not a fan of the coat/trousers combo but will forgive her as individually they look lovely.

I reckon the Sussex’s will return to find the Cambridge’s have very deftly edged them right out.

G&C are set to appear on Christmas morning I hear?

TSSDNCOP · 23/12/2019 11:23

Apostrophe fail everywhere Blush

SenecaFalls · 23/12/2019 12:14

Thanks for all the corgi love on here. They really are a great breed if a bit challenging because, although very intelligent, they like to do things their own way. Meg is small for the breed, but very outgoing and confident. She has lots of other nicknames; at the dog park one of the regulars calls her "Queenie" because of the breed's association with HMQ, but mainly because she likes to be in charge.

As to the tail docking, they are still doing that in the US, but more and more breeders are stopping it. Our dog's tail is docked, but we got her at nearly a year old from a rescue organization so there wasn't a choice to be made.

Speaking of association with royalty, some of you all may know that in the US, Halloween is a very big deal, and often entire families dress up in themed costumes. The year that Will and Kate got married, there was a lot of interest in the RF. Our neighbors decided to go as the UK Royal Family, for which purpose, they asked to borrow our Corgi, Meg's predecessor who was a red and white, like the Queen's. She was the perfect accessory.

SenecaFalls · 23/12/2019 12:15

I love that clip of Charles with the iron. Smile

SunshineCake · 23/12/2019 12:50

Thank you for the book recommendation @SenecaFalls.

queenofarles · 23/12/2019 13:22

Seneca your Corgi is So adorable, I actually thought it’s your Christmas cards, Xmas Grin.

P Charles. Oh bless him. He looks confused with the iron.
I really want a fancy laurastar ironing system, but worried they’d get ruined pretty quick, Xmas Hmm.

BigGlasses · 23/12/2019 13:48

Maybe I’ve missed it but apart from Charles and Camilla, have any of the British Royals officially released their Christmas cards? Are they not ridiculously late this year?

Horsemad · 23/12/2019 13:58

Lol @ PC!
Officers in the armed forces have someone to do their ironing, so I imagine he's never used one! 🙂

Yep to whoever suggested Meg the corgi as thread mascot, she is beautiful.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 23/12/2019 14:00

I was wondering whether the Royals May be starting to become more green & not send any cards this year. We’ve definitely received less again this year. Which is great as we don’t put them up.

AppleKatie · 23/12/2019 14:44

Hilarious Charles Ironing. Kate’s poker face was incredible there 😂 can you imagine how much she rolled her eyes at William when she got home 😃

gingercat02 · 23/12/2019 15:01

Lovely photos of the Cambridge and Tindall families in OK www.ok.co.uk/royal/gallery/prince-george-charlotte-tindall-outing-21147197

Spudlet · 23/12/2019 15:21

Those are from Burnham Market at Easter - it was bloody freezing, it snowed! I was there, saw Zara heading for the start box, didn’t see the others. Xmas Smile

gingercat02 · 23/12/2019 15:43

I knew they were old (my cousin's husband is a professional event rider) but thought they were cute while we wait for Christmas outfits 🎄⛪👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

BreasticlesNotTesticles · 23/12/2019 15:46

I LOVE Charles ironing. DoC clearly knows how to iron to the corner!

megletthesecond · 23/12/2019 15:50

The Cambridges probably benefitted hugely from going to university and low key living together before marriage.

Apparently Charles went to cambridge but I'm sure they have domestic help there? Unless I imagined it.

NearlySchoolTimeAgain · 23/12/2019 16:05

The Dartmouth insider sitting next to me said that these days Navy recruits would only have to do their ironing in the first 12 weeks. After that you can get it done for you if you pay.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 23/12/2019 16:10

All the Royal cousins must have a great time together at Sandringham. Although I don't remember seeing the Tindalls there for years.

GlamGiraffe · 23/12/2019 16:22

Oh dear, it looks like PC and my DH went to the same ironing school🤔. The only difference is DH can wear his with an interesting pattern pressed into it with the iron like that. I'm not sure Charles is wearing the look hes creating.
It is so funny. Royals obviously get briefings about all the complexities of the visits they're doing in advance, but Charles gets there and is confronted with an iron and is clueless, that's fantastic. They obviously have to reclassify what counts as unknown information for some of the royals I'd imagine.

BlingLoving · 23/12/2019 17:04

Is anyone else finding Philip in hospital alone with no visitors odd? I get that it's a certain type of family/person from a certain age. Certainly, after routine surgery for my mum my dad left the hospital at 5pm with no intention of returning until the next day but that's very different to Philip being in hospital for DAYS.

I have always liked the queen but I'mr really starting to feel like her personality and approach to the world is just so incredibly out of date that it jars. Really badly. It also makes me start to wonder if there's more going on with Philip than we know - eg maybe they don't visit because he's got severe dementia and frankly it's just upsetting for everyone, including him.

AudacityOfHope · 23/12/2019 17:08

God I'm late to this thread!

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/12/2019 17:17

I don't know @BlingLoving, he looked his usual self when he made an appearance with HM over the summer so dementia seems unlikely unless it's had a very rapid onset. At 98 it could be any number of things but yes, it is a bit odd that no one's visiting.

OP posts:
paradyning · 23/12/2019 17:20

I guess we don't know he isn't having any visitors.

BlingLoving · 23/12/2019 17:22

@QueenOfTheAndals I agree dementia is unlikely. I was more trying to spitball how odd the whole thing is. And charles apparently told someone that he's been looked after well at the hospital so they just have to wait and see.

I think if there were visitors we'd have heard something. It seems unlikely people could sneak it. I'm sure the Mail etc are all camped out outside. But you're right. Or he could be doing multiple Skype/ FaceTime calls a day and obviously we're not seeing those. but it just feels weird. Not least because at 98 any hospital stay is worrying. So you'd think someone would want to be with him.
